RAVE CLASSICS-SERIES - A Journey Through Time 

From time to time, I create nostalgic mixes with music from the 90s and early 2000s - a time when I was younger, and every beat, every melody left a deep impression on me. These were the sounds that shaped my love for electronic music and the energy of the rave scene. These genres were more than just music; they were a movement, a culture, and a way of life.

I created the Rave Classics-series as a way to keep the energy and spirit of those years alive. Each mix is a tribute to a time when music was raw, powerful, and full of emotion. It’s a chance to relive the euphoric memories and introduce new generations to the timeless sound of electronic music.

Let’s celebrate the past, dance in the present, and keep the beats alive for the future. Rave Classics is more than just music - it’s a tribute to an era that will never fade.

Techno

Låt mig få presentera ett stycke ravehistoria i min Rave Classics-serie. Här blir det en riktig nostalgitripp med gamla techno-låtar från 90-talets början! 🤟

Den förra Hardtrance-mixen innehöll låtar merpart från 90-talets mitt. Nu skruvar vi tillbaka tiden några år till och befinner oss i 90-talets inledande år.
Själv var jag en ung grabb när jag fick höra L.A. Styles "James Brown is dead" första gången på radio.
Den här mixen är väldigt givande att få dela med sig eftersom den tidiga techno-musiken är den som fångat och format mitt intresse för de elektroniska musikgenrerna. 
Så givetvis ska L.A Style få inleda, och följs sedan upp av låtar från bl.a Interactive, U96, Egma, Fazer och Human Resource 🎶 

På Soundcloud har jag gett varje låt en Discogs-länk till releasen på vinyl, förutom Ecstasy Historys version av Misterias "Who Killed JFK". Den kom bara på en CD-samling.

Lyssna lite extra på Techno Trash "Noise!!" av Ramon Zenker (medlem i bl.a Hardfloor). Det är en låt som inspirerat en ung DJ Paul Elstak, för det syntljudet var ständigt återkommande i hans Nightmare-releaser.

Passionsfrukt X Sauna On The Move Open Air MIX

Den här mixen får man kalla för en remake. Jag gjorde den först i februari 2020 för Forced2Dance´s DJ-tävling där man kunde vinna en spelning till Owl-festivalen. Det var precis innan pandemin bröt ut. Sedan satte COVID-19 som bekant stopp för det mesta resten av året. 
Jag döpte mixen till Lucky 21, helt enkelt för att det var 21 utvalda låtar. Den blev 40 minuter lång, men jag har sedan dess känt att jag velat utöka mixen och göra den som brukligt för mig på en timme. Så nu har jag gjort min remake, som numer innehåller 31 låtar där de 11 sista är nya. Alla låtarna är från 2003-2007.

Jag gillar verkligen den tidiga eran av hardstylen. Genren har på allvar brutit sig loss från 2000-talets tidiga hardtrance och gör sitt avstamp med ett hårdare sound, som har en del influenser från 90-talets hardcore. 

Ett roligt minne var när jag skulle spela på Nermins födelsedagsfest, där han hade hyrt en MC-klubbs lokal. Jag började med trance och psy. Knuttarna gillade onekligen inte musiken. De bad mig flera gånger att byta men jag svarade att jag blivit ombedd att spela detta. När jag switchade till hårdare musik och Max B Grant´s "Hardstyle Champions" började dåna så bröt de musiken... De fick nog haha.

En annan kväll så inledde jag mest på skoj med hardstyle när Page-Danne hade fixat en mindre fest ute i skogen. Jag hade lyssnat slaviskt på "Puta madre", "Cocaine motherfucker" och ville se folkets reaktioner. Det blev ett jäkla drag!
Sen blev det psy trance inpå småtimmarna med en massa grogg, och kvällen slutade med att jag däckade på "dansgolvet".

Schnippenkopf presenterar ett stycke Psy Trance-historia i Rave Classics-serien.

Den här mixen innehåller 25 spår som merpart är släppta runt millennieskiftet. Det var en galen tid i mitt liv, med mycket festande och där psy trance-musiken hade fått ett större inflytande på mig efter de tidigare åren med mycket hardcore och trance.

Jag gjorde den här mixen först år 2019 som släpptes på Mixcloud, men jag har sedan dess inte känt mig helt nöjd med vissa övergångar i slutet. Så jag tyckte att det var dags för en liten remake, så att den dessutom kan presenteras på Soundcloud. Yaaay.

Mixen inkluderar spår från bl.a brittiske Space Tribe (Olli Wisdom), svenske Hux Flux (Dennis Tapper) och GMS (som inkluderade spanjoren Josef "Bansi" Quinteros) som tyvärr inte finns med i jordelivet längre. R.I.P och ett stort tack för den underbara musiken! 💖

FRANKY JONES @ RETRO HOUSE PARTY (17.01.14 FUSE)

Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlbäck, Joel Mull and Peter Benisch are the teenage quartet of boys who, in 1993, decided to go to Berlin for the music and peace march Love Parade. The festival celebrated its five-year anniversary and attracted a few thousand visitors and, above all, some of the world's best DJs. 
On the train to Berlin, the gang - some of them just newly acquainted - decided that at home they would gather all their gadgets and machines and start a studio together. The result was Globe Studios, which they shared for many years.
The journey to Berlin became the catalyst of what seriously started the techno scene in Stockholm. Shortly thereafter, a few of them started working together at the Planet Rhythm record store at St Eriksplan.

Drumcode Records is a Swedish techno label managed by Adam Beyer. The label was founded in 1996 and has enjoyed a streak of success in its releases, talent scouting, radio efforts, and general international label camaraderie.

Schnippenkopf presents a little bit of psy trance history!

This is the sequel from last years "Trippy 27" with most of the tracks taken from the early 2000´s.
It´s recorded with Rekordbox and my partner in crime are the DDJ-1000.

When we are talking about psy trance, I must say that I am proud to be a swede. For example, in this mix we have tracks from Swedish acts Miraculix, Logic Bomb, S-Range and Hux Flux - may you rest in peace. "Idiot" from Dennis is one of my absolute favourite tracks from this "era".

But theres so much more legendary awesome tracks, from the likes of Space Tribe, X-Dream, Etnica and Oforia. I was  going to have a track from Oforia´s sideproject Pigs In Space, but decided not to. Maybe in a third chapter, with a little bit more "party" to it.

You might have heard Erik L's (Erik Lidén) melodic music played by tastemaking radio DJ's like Gilles Peterson and Benji B, both from BBC Radio. Erik L has worked with artists such as Frank n Dank, Kissey Asplund, Dynamite MC and Hezekiah to name a few, creating a buzz in the underground scene and on sites like 2dopeboyz and Okayplayer etc. His song Soul Symphony was ranked as one of the best beats of 2009 by Benji B of BBC Radio, who have been playing Erik's stuff frequently in his shows. On Display is mixed by Devastate, a talented Swedish DJ that released his debut album on the legendary English label BBE Records. This mix features a selection of hip hop and soul productions made by Erik L in the past few years along with some new and previously unreleased material. Lately he has been focusing on getting a new album ready with his group Favorite Flava that also consists of Stray (Mattias Axelsson) and Paul Mac Innes. Favorite Flava released their critically acclaimed debut album ”Different Phase” in 2009 on Ubeat Records. The music is a perfect blend of soul, RnB, pop and jazz with an approach to melodies that is unusual in the music busines these days. Schnippenkopf presenterar ett stycke ravehistoria!

Den tidiga hard trancen från 90-talets mitt är en genre som format mig mycket som ung. Tänk glädjen man kände när man fann en ny CD-samling i skivaffärn och skyndade sig hem på cykeln, med skivan i en påse. Då gick man i högstadiet/gymnasiet.

De första skivorna jag samlade på var de allra första Techno Trax på tidigt, tidigt 90-tal. De satt man och spelade bl.a när vi var på campingsemester, överförda från CD till kassettband. 
Men sen kom Thunderdome-skivorna och technon blev hårdare och aggressivare. Parallellt till detta kom Psy Trancen men också den mer melodiska och Acid-inspirerade Hard Trancen, med skivsamlingar som Ravermeister, Rave Mission, Acid Flash, Cosmic Cubes och Nimm. Mycket kom från tyska bolaget Sub Terranean.
