The Ministry of Sound DJ/Producer’s back-story includes numerous Aria charts appearance’s, Inthemix DJ poll findings, residences (One Love’s Prince of Wales, Billboards, Q Bar, La La Land, 161, Platinum, Sorry Grandma, Lady Luck…) and flawless appearances countrywide. Pete Tong ploys on bbc etc – Thanks to the Essential Collection. And the man’s name continues to rank on the Australia Festival scene, closing Falls (with Mr. Andy Murphy…) for both 2010 and 2011 – Mind you, throwing down one hell of a New Years bash. Backing it up on each occasion with Summadayze main-stage gigs come New Years Day.  

Having just been signed to Ministry of Sound, ‘Sassafras’ with Timmy Trumpet has smashed it  #1 on the Aria Dance Charts and surpassed the Beatport Electro Charts Top 30. Follow up records/mixes with Trumpet, Andy Murphy and Oliver Twist to come. Backed up with radio-play, remixes and collaborations for/with Chuckie, Joachim Gerrad, Romero, P Money, Wiley, Carl Kennedy, The Stafford Brothers and DJ PP (Hot Fingers). Kid Fonque has become a vital part of South African electronic music and club culture over the last 20 years. Uniquely accomplished in both influence and scope, he is an over-achiever in every one of his roles; DJ, Producer Label Owner, promoter and more recently, Radio Presenter.

Firmly established as a tastemaker in South Africa, Kid Fonque’s influence can be felt and heard in the music of the many artists he has helped nurture with his role as label manager of Africa’s seminal dance label Soul Candi Records and now his new venture with Jullian Gomes in their new label Stay True Sounds.

Kid Fonque’s talent is the type that refuses to acknowledge boundaries of any kind – be they genres or borders. The respect he is paid by the industry is a result of his no compromise attitude to playing and making music. Rather than following trends, Kid Fonque has always done things his own way. Importantly, every record he reaches for bares all the hallmarks of the Kid Fonque sound - a golden thread that ties all his sets together somehow. 

Like a painter dabbing his brush into different hues, Fonque’s palette embraces everything from bass and broken beats to bossa nova, hip hop and every shade of house - and with this open-minded approach, he’s been deconstructing dancefloors at home and abroad for well over a decade. Over the last couple years he’s played dates in Hong Kong, Dubai, the UK and Switzerland.

Kid Fonque has just recently started his own radio show called Selective Styles on South Africa’s very own 5FM.  Selective Styles has given Kid the platform to showcase the hidden talent from all over South Africa electronic, house, soul & Hip Hop Community while delving into international releases weekly.

In 2011, Kid Fonque launched his long-running monthly night, #2SIDESOFTHEBEAT as a platform to showcase underground music from all genres at the same venue. Dubstep and house rubs shoulders with hip hop, broken beat and everything in between. Kid Fonque handpicks the line-up which has seen esteemed musos like Dego, King Britt, Swindle, Mala, Nightmares On Wax, Zaki Ibrahim and local stars like Jullian Gomes, Cuebur, Kenzhero and The Brother Moves On all on one stage.

In 2014 Kid Fonque moved into the producer’s chair and released his critically acclaimed debut artist album Kid Fonque and Friends and a string of remixes. 

Two singles from the album “BE”, “Usangikhumbula” and a recent collaboration with D-Malice “All This Time” did serious damage in the charts – all claiming the number 1 spot on the YFM Urban Top 20. His recent studio output has paired him with luminaries like Clara Hill, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Nia Andrews, Jonny Miller,  Kev Brown, Okmalumkoolkat and Atjazz. 

2016 has been music as usual and the year started with a Boiler Room set where he was asked to represent his newfound label ‘Stay True Sounds’ and got to share the platform with label partner Jullian Gomes with a back-to-back set recorded and played in Cape Town’s Langa.

2017 sees plenty of new projects on the horizon for Fonque including a full length collaboration with UK’s D-Malice under the alias rkls due for release on r2 London which features a rich and varied cast of artists including Kev Brown, Melo B Jones, Sio, John Robinson and many more.

Whether he’s behind the decks, running Stay True Sounds, preparing for his weekly radio show or in studio making otherworldly music, Kid Fonque’s sonic adventures continue to fill dance floors and thrill earholes, pay attention!

Brenton Scholtens aka DJ Schultzy aka Bagdadi is a DJ/Promoter from the land down under, Australia. Bagdadi’s love of electronic music begun when he first picked up a set of Technic turntables at university in the early 2000’s where he jammed at local bars and house parties. Fast forward a few years to today and much of his spare time is spent with his long-time friend Benjamino on offering their local community an alternative to the mainstream and offer some good quality house music, throwing parties through their brand ‘Circhouse’ www.facebook.com/circhouse. Bagdadi’s passion is taking control of the dance floor by energising the crowd that is on it with many genres, including classic, jackin, deep, soulful, funk, disco and tech house.

- Producer/Remixer at Ad Nauseam, aka ADN (this project is no longer active) - 2003 as "Ad Nauseam," for one release on Schalldruck/Überdruck Records and then the project stopped for almost two decades; "Ad Nauseam" - was then rebooted and was active again producing and remixing hard acid techno including a collaboration with "Jack Wax" (NL), from 2020 to 2024 on Tension Music, Flatlife Records, Zodiak Commune Records, Disrupt The Surge, and the Stay Up Forever & Flatlife Records collaborative imprint "We Are Acid Family." Two remixes were released under the abbreviated moniker "ADN" which were, "Mauro Picotto - The Twilight Zone," on Alchemy Records in late-2023 (a hard acid techno remix of the 1999 underground techno hit Megamind - Taub), and "Andreas Kraemer & Jon Connor - Catch," on Sonaxx Records in mid-2024 (a hard techno/schranz remix featuring the vocal from Kosheen's chart topping club hit "Catch"). Both "Ad Nauseam" and "ADN" ceased being active projects in mid-2024 and are now defunct, with the two producers opting to pursue different creative directions under their solo monikers. A final release, as "Ad Nauseam," called the "Rave System E.P.," was released in early 2025, and included two new 90's rave inspired hard acid techno tracks, "Omega System," and "Alpha System," plus the previously unreleased 2004 hard acid techno track "Always Acid," due to high demand for its release on SoundCloud. The "Rave System E.P." was released on extremely limited edition yellow vinyl in a full-color picture sleeve and digital through Flatlife Records, and topped techno vinyl sales charts, and received major support from techno and acid techno DJs around the world.

Miss Mel is a talented DJ who has perfected her craft with over 29 years of experience in the industry. She began her career as a commercial DJ in 1995, performing at suburban clubs before moving to the city, where she secured guest spots and residencies at some of the most prestigious clubs in Melbourne, including Bubble, Dome, Chasers, Samsara, Evolution, Hard Kandy, Viper, Sinergy, and Altitude.

Miss Mel is particularly renowned for her expertise in uplifting trance, hard trance, and hardstyle, and is considered a rare breed of DJ who mastered her craft on turntables. Her longest residencies were at Altitude in Melbourne and Viper Room, where she played uplifting trance to a packed-out club every Saturday night, alongside John Askew and other notable artists. She also represented 5am at Altitude in Sydney, where she gained recognition in the Sydney trance scene.

Miss Mel's mixing skills are tight and precise, and her ability to keep the energy flowing and take the crowd on a journey of high intensity from start to finish makes her a standout artist. Her mixing style, which she describes as "Relentless," is particularly noteworthy, as it ensures that the energy remains high throughout her sets. She has also mixed the Altitude Volume 1 compilation, which is still considered legendary in the trance scene.

After ticking off the final item on her bucket list—playing at Esoteric two years in a row, with her children by her side in the console for her 2024 set—Miss Mel officially retired in September 2024 with a sold-out Altitude Reunion on the iconic Inflation Rooftop. While she may still share the occasional home mix, Miss Mel steps away feeling deeply grateful for the memories, the music, and her contribution to the scene.

How do you catch a moonbeam in your hand?
How do you describe a sound that knows no genre?
The answer is: you can’t.  His taste is colourful, timeless, genre- blind and all encompassing. His influences are as diverse as his sound is uplifting, somehow reaching for the sun in an intangible vibe you can’t quite define.
