Kevan Anthony Cameron graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2003 (BGS '03, CLA '03) after playing four years on the Men's Varsity Soccer team from 1997 through 2000 where he earned All-American Honours and was given the prestigious Honourary Captain's Award. 

Cameron is an alumni of the Canadian Men's National Team as well as Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club.

After a pro soccer career in North America, Kevan Anthony Cameron began to spit his lyrics; SCRUFFMOUTH is the pen, stage, and business name for the spoken dub poetician in literature, orature, media and performance.

Kevan Cameron is a full member of UBCP/ACTRA and has appeared in new media, commercials, print, and film/tv as a spoken word poet, soccer player, or just as himself.  In 2011, Kevan "Scruffmouth" Cameron was awarded a Canada Council for the Arts Spoken Word Program Grant for a a spoken dub poetry project of lyrical audiovisual liner notes. 

That project was

and is showcased on this SoundCloud platform. 

In 2014, Kevan Cameron was awarded a Fulbright scholarship as an Adult Educator for the Youth Ambassadors Program. One of the community service projects Cameron committed to the his work as a cultural diplomat and mentor was HOGAN'S ALLEY POETRY FESTIVAL which was funded by Canada Council for the Arts from 2011 through 2014 in the Lower Mainland, Coast Salish Territories in the historic East End of the traditional lands of the People of the Inlet to celebrate the historic achievement and cultural spaces of Afrodescendants amidst urban renewal schemes of the 20th century. 

Kevan Anthony Cameron is co-editor of The Great Black North: Contemporary African Canadian Poetry, a fellow of the 2017 CALLALOO Literary Journal Poetry Workshop at The University of Oxford Research Centre for the Humanities, and is currently working with Writing Our Legacy as a contributor to their COVERT Literary Magazine Issue 5, themed  'Rest Yourself'. SCRUFFMOUTH has featured and presented his work at poetry festivals, literary events, and spoken word shows in Canada, the United States, Jamaica, Kenya, Ghana, and England.

I've been mixing UKG for half my life and seen many changes in the world of house and garage. From the days of trawling various record shops like Black Market Records, Uptown Records, The Vinyl Cafe in Camden (still to this day the best record shop) and the various Exchange shops dotted around London, HMV and Tower Records to buying vinyl with my dinner money after school from Bassline Records in Kilburn (shouts to Spin-e-b & Double O) to now trawling online for the latest track you heard another dj play by a certain producer and hoping to find some info or a link up on the various social networking sites avalible nowadays.
I've been producing music on and off for 10 years and brought out my first ep on vinyl in 2002 on North West Ultrasound record label, alongside N.W.U.S owner Jay Spax. I put most of my own tracks on my Soundcloud page (www. http://soundcloud.com/sci-fi ) for free download. I also have a dedicated Soundcloud page for my mixes/sets and radio shows, http://soundcloud.com/dj-sci-fi-1 which is regularly updated. 
I've played on many pirate/internet stations over the years - Deep FM, Mac FM, Flare FM, Touchdown FM, Lush FM (new & old) and more recently Laylow FM and ice cold radio.
I've enjoyed guest shows on Image Radio, Addictive FMTV.com and Reaction Radio. 

I currently have a radio show on www.londonlive.fm every Tuesday night between 8-10 pm GMT playing all aspects of UK house & garage from 1994 to the present day.

I started off playing Jungle/Drum & Bass and then moving onto UK Garage. I have seen UK Underground music evolve over the years from the early 4 to the floor piano/synth tracks through to the commercialy named Speed Garage era and on to the 2 Step sound which then branched off into various genres of music including Grime, Sublow and Bassline and the newest offshoot of Dubstep then Drumstep and going full circle with the introduction a couple years ago of 140 Jungle. But i have continued to buy UKG throughout this time and have amassed quite a collection spanning the various sub genres UK Garage and genuinely believe the music will get back to the heights it did around 1996/1997
