Before I did stuff under the name Lowfish I recorded as Pest(e). "Wrinkle" is from the 1995 cassette release "Test(e)" by Pest(e). I thought I was pretty clever with all the brackets…I did the art to this as well - I was just starting in graphic design then...

This track and a few other Pest(e) tracks were re-released on Suction Records (which we started in 1997, the year after this cassette was produced).

The CD was produced here in Canada and released on our Suction Records label. The excellent K-RAA-K label in Belgium pressed and distributed the vinyl version for us. I think this was my best selling release.

FatBlex (2000)

From the 1999 album (CD only) on Suction Records (suction004) Canada. I was still very much in an experimental mode mixed with my love of wave and industrial and IDM showing. All these track are recorded live - meaning no multi-tracking - just me and a room full of synthesizers, drum machines and effects. This is one of the only releases that I didn't do that artwork for and I'm not in love with it.

From the 2003 release "1000 corrections per second" on Suction Records (suction018). Available on CD as an full album and a 12" version. This was the time/album where I played live/toured the most.

Fric Frac (2003)

From the 2010 release "Memories are uncertain friends" on Suction Records (suction021). This a collection of old DAT recoveries of previously unreleased Lowfish stuff from 1997 forward. All analog synth+drum machines with no multi-tracking. I spent a lot of time with my Jupiter-6 and Roland s-750 sampler. A lot.

Suction Records is pleased to present "Dominion" (suction029, 8-track LP), the debut full-length LP by June﻿, after a string of 12-inch EPs for his own June Records label. June is the solo project of Tsampikos Fronas, originally from Greece, and now based in Berlin, Germany. June caught Suction Records' attention with the 2013 EP, "Golden Era," a sublime selection of intricate, instrumental synthesizer music made with classic analog machines, at times reminiscent of artists such as Legowelt, Solvent and Perspects. June has also been making waves with another side to his hardware analog sound, with much of his output falling firmly into the classic Chicago acid realm. 2014 saw June turning many new heads with "The Human Target," an EP divided evenly between June's synthwave and acid tracks, catching the attention of prominent DJs like Helena Hauff, Intergalactic Gary and Slow To Speak.

"Dominion" is focused on June's synthwave sound, utilizing hardware step sequencers to sync and control his arsenal of classic drum machines and synthesizers including Roland's SH-101, TR-606 and Juno-60, and *the* minimal synth percussion staple, the Korg KR-55. The romanticism and elegance of early '80s synth pop is clearly evident, not only in the production and instrumentation of the music, but in the artwork and song titles. Even more prominent is the influence of modern minimal synth master Sean McBride of Martial Canterel and Xeno & Oaklander, who's sophisticated classicist sequencer composition looms largely over the material on "Dominion," minus McBride's distinctive vocals. Save for the gorgeous and meditative "Queen Of Flowers" cuts that end both sides of the LP, the music on "Dominion" is driving, danceable synthwave that references the past while maintaining a thoroughly modern edge.

Occasionally one reads about some musical instrument with an illustrious past, Jimi Hendrix's guitar, John Lennon's piano, selling for exorbitant amounts of money at auction. And typically, that's the last of it, the instrument disappearing into some rich collector's display case, never to be heard from again. Here then, is a bit of a different story. In April 2006, a Yamaha CS5 monosynth, having been owned by Richard D James (Aphex Twin), with the actual liner notes for his landmark "Selected Ambient Works Volume II" etched into the bottom, was sold at VEMIA auction for approximately $1200 - a bargain in retrospect. The winning bidder was, in fact, a friend of Solvent's, and the synth resides not in a display case, but in Solvent's studio, on generous long-term loan.

"RDJCS5", a new 4-track 12-inch / digital EP by Solvent, is the result. This is Suction022. Each and every sound on this record came from RDJ's old CS5, painstakingly programmed and multi-tracked by Solvent over the course of several months. The limited capabilities and sound palette of this humble little synth provided quite a challenge, but ultimately the results are not merely an exercise in technical synthnerdery; "RDJCS5" speaks more of Solvent's musical kinship to thee Analord. Opening track "Curtains" bears similarity to early Rephlex signing Bochum Welt, while "Radiator", "Mould", and "Tassels" each contain hallmarks of the classic AFX sound. At the same time, each track also sounds distinctly and unmistakably 'Solvent'.

The 12" vinyl edition is limited to 300 copies, in brown chipboard sleeve with sticker, and also contains an additional noise/drone piece at the end of side B. Entitled "Sandpaper", this cut will be individually hand-etched by Solvent, for a 1-of-a-kind cut/click/loop experience.
