Connecting techno, EBM, acid and electro with vestiges of dub and experimental electronics, on ‘Endurance of Pain…’ Du Palais conjures an abrasive, intoxicating depiction of lust, hedonism, technological obsession and millennial alienation.

"Onyx” is an early 1980’s Boston based new wave / avant-garde band, that was an international duo of American songwriter and instrumentalist Judd Stone, and British vocalist (and then Boston fashion model) Beveur. – Note: pronounced like “Bevoir”.

“Call of the Wild” and “S.O.S.” – recorded at Wormwood Street Studios, Boston; 1982
“Robot World” and “Planet X” – recorded at Newbury Sound, Boston; 1983

Except for a primitive drum machine track that is used on “Planet X”, the only instruments used are drums /percussion and synthesizers. All of the instruments are played, and there is no syncing or sequencers used on any of the recordings. The bass tracks are keyboard bass.

All songs are written and produced by Judd Stone.

The music is made to be played LOUD!!

The grand hotel overlooked the sea, it was the crowning jewel on the seafront; a spectacle for all to see. But on closer inspection it had become weathered and run down, the kind of place that many socialites and aristocracy had frequented once upon a time but no longer saw many visitors. The owner would dine outside each night, remembering how this place had once been the talk of the town. He had been at the epicentre of these social soirees, flaunting his wealth and the empire he had built. He had been a cruel man back then, someone who only had time for those who could offer him something in return. But now things were different. His greed had been taken away and replaced with remorse...

Following his release on Rotterdam's Pinkman imprint Kris Baha quickly follows up with a long player for Berlin-based party and label CockTail d'Amore. Flaunting the industrial sounds he's become known for, Palais explores Kris' musical sensitivity and is based around the concepts of alienation, detachment, melancholia and lust.

Chris Imler, who alternates between eternal street boy and dubious magician, has succeeded in upgrading to a prophet with his third record. The 12-inch, completed in January and released on May 22nd on vinyl, is exaggeratedly up to date. Though it would never occured to him in his wildest nightmares while doing it, Chris Imler produced the soundtrack for the state of emergency. „Ich mess die Zeit in Katastrophen / Die Skala ist nach oben offen / Das Haus stürzt ein, es brennt die Stadt / Ein Laserstrahl weist mir den Weg zum Country Club“ says the chorus of “Country Club”. The music itself sounds like an emergency from the first second on. Synths like deeply pitched sirens, a beat like ground troops. And also the second song with the again ridiculously contemporary title “Protect Myself” provides appropriate voodoo vibrations.

Imler couldn't have found better remixers than INIT (Benedikt Frey & Nadia D’Alò / two thirds of the R.i.O. label) and Debmaster (Julien Deblois / Nyege Nyege label), who consistently drive the sound into dark rotations.

With the best of intentions, the worldwide public sitting in their rooms cannot expect more than the cathartic distraction gathered in these four songs.

The first Lux Rec release after summer is a split EP that puts together two musicians from different regions, different backgrounds. On the A side there’s an old acquaintance of the label, Kinder aus Asbest, with Life after Death and Washed Away. As hopeless as it gets. On the B side there’s Rosa Nebel, and upcoming artist from Austria that matches perfectly, with his dystopian views on society, the core dissatisfaction for humankind that Lux Rec has.
