Livity Sound is proud to present a 12” of lean, refined club tracks from UK stalwart Beneath. The Mistry and No Symbols boss has spent the past 10 years exploring a sound which nods to the legacy of bleep techno, dubstep and UK funky while leaning forwards into its own distinctive space. 

His stripped-back blend of crisp drums, sprightly hooks and sub bass are instantly identifiable, but across four new tracks Beneath displays the versatility within his reach. Stomping four to-the-floor rollers on the A side face-off with minimalist dub and weighty, synth-rich expressions on the flip that move beyond the demands of the dancefloor.

Roma based modular magician A-Tweed returns to Inside Out Records with Cubism. Necker Cubism starts things off with a heavy bass and layered with playful funky acid leads. Beeswax Hexagon adds distorted vocals and percussive modulations to create addictive dance floor ready hooks. Nabla Shape Operator sets the tone for a darker distorted reality. Climbing Helical Path provides a steady groove with accompanying modular and acid madness. Thomass Jackson and Stevie R & Parisinos take the original tracks to new mind bending directions.

'Musica E Computer' is a momentous release from Slow Motion label head Fabrizio Mammarella and Rodion recorded in the legendary Marche Synth Museum (Museo Del Synth Marchigiano).
A fully functional recording space that houses a fusion of several private collections of Italian electronic musical instruments gathered over the many years since their creation. The Marche region, being home to some of the most ground-breaking and foundational instruments, has created the likes of Crumar, Farfisa and Elka with innovative use from the likes of Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd and Vangelis.

The opening track ‘Iris’ sets the exceptional tone for this release. Fully exploring the realms within the Marche with an eerie, metallic tropical soundscape showing their discoveries' breadth. ‘A Corrente Alternata’ brings us back to Mammerella and Rodion’s revered partnership as unmatched creators of enigmatic, timeless earworms. The driving bassline sits beautifully within the characterfully saturated drums and tweets of an equally enigmatic synthesiser.

‘Un Segnale Di Speranza‘ launches us into the infectious, mind-bending signature arps of Mammerella and the rising harmonies of Rodion, with another ground-shattering bassline and arcane vocoders that transport you to peak time at Slow Motion’s Italorama Bar. ‘Musica E Computer’s’ soundscapes provide rich blends of the synthetic and organic sounds of the Italian region, acting as a geographic coda that can also be heard in ‘La Domenica Del Villaggio’.

‘La Memoria Dei Sistemi’ slips us back into the energetic, electronic environment that Rodion and Mammerella have so delicately crafted. Driving us through the celestial alchemy of this atmospheric track, which leads us to the chiming finish of ‘Una Nuova Era’. This ties together a transcendent homage to Musica E Computer’s recording surroundings and a bar-setting conclusion to another captivating masterpiece from the duo.

Sordid Sound System made a storming entrance on Special place by remixing Treasure Island's track 'No Loss'. He returns to the label with his own productions, showing his mastery in the assembly of sonic atmospheres. Every element seems to fall right into place, every sound triggers yet another emotion.

This EP is the closest that Sordid has come to flirting with the 1980s. Throughout its duration, you can hear the sonic imprint of early 80s neo-noir cinema such as Bladerunner, Scarface, and Escape From New York.

'The Great Psychic Outdoors' is a masterpiece imbued with the DNA of the bastard lovechild of John Carpenter and The Cure. One of those tracks you could play on a tape loop for hours. Because it feels intriguing and frightening, but draws you in. Just like hiding away in a tree house and watching the world from above on a rainy day.

'I Dream Of Electric Sheep' delivers Sordid's so-called 'motorik dub', one foot in disco, one foot in the Caribbean, with a nod to Compass Point classics by the likes of Talking Heads and Grace Jones. Like the rest of this EP, these qualitative sounds called for a stellar remixer. With close to a hundred remixes under the belt for artists ranging from Radiohead to Isolée or Romanthony and a massive catalogue of productions that dared to leave dance music for ambient sonic explorations, Ripperton was the perfect pick.

His reimagining of 'I Dream of Electric Sheep' transports us into daring dreamlike realms of rhythmic exploration, Deckard's beat-up Spinner escapes the smog of the dystopian city for the clouds high above.

And to close us out with a vital burst of cracked up mechanical energy, 'David, I'm Just A Curious Soul' brings searing phantasmagorical acid-house to the imaginary dancefloor of a late 80s warehouse party on the lower East side of New York.
