For our seventeenth addition We are graced with the presence of London's own aircode, whose electronic obscurities have been found on such labels as DJ Pitch's 'Tobago Tracks' along with a recent EP on 'Alien Jams'. Julia's productions are truly worthy of being heralded by a label with the word 'alien' in the title - her work is enigmatic and astoundingly unique. It beckons notions of a faraway entity who occupied her mind and attempted to craft their world's music through her eyes using earthly soundscapes.

It is pensive and moving throughout, where aircode has used the absence of space and an unlikely palette of reverb-drenched, distant sounds to accentuate a sense of alienation. Nods to dubstep and UK-influenced genres leak through at times to reinforce the still-present movability and flow that Julia effortlessly melds into the sound design she has mastered. The tracks loop in and out of themselves, where she has broken down each track skillfully into a concise selection of resonances that undergo a perpetual sense of motion that subvert the tropes of contemporary club music. There is an uneasy air of endlessness and repetition throughout; a spiral further and further into an unknown unknown.

Active since 2006 with multiple projects, evolved in countless DIY or festival performances & putting out a handful of hardline releases, on their latest project 'Kleis' out in May via Gin&Platonic, the Saint-Etienne based musician and respected performer Amédée De Murcia alias 'Somaticae' examines the disturbing concept of dichotomy, fundamentally shaping the world around us.

Being a follow-up to his noise, electronica and techno-oriented past releases via Brainstorm Lab, Lost Dogs ent. or In Paradisum, Kleis (meaning key in ancient greek) offers two iterations (the third is a cassette-only bonus) of an epic and raw, yet genuinely fluid sonic riddle. Composed and recorded during 2020 in Lyon, Kleis is a rebus encrypted with grubby drums, entangled irregularly like sonic tentacles of an octopus, unpredictably rolling on tossed with the cold streams of sharp noises. „The symbolism of the key has a double connotation since it has the power to open and close. It commands access to a place, inside a box, and to an acquaintance. Conversely, it can forbid this same access, so the key has both a role of initiation and discrimination,“ says Amédée.

“The Overload flooded us. Consumed Us. Made us whole again”. As the time when "Transmute" was taking shape, so did the multiple global crisis. "Transmute" is an effort to represent the human spirit and its resiliency amidst the uncertainty, hopelessness and chaos of the current era.

Burnt Offerings is a duo consisting of Arthur Bdt (Incendie) and Andres Leon (Laopé). Their music oscillates from Drone to Cuban music, incorporating everything from traditional Latin instruments to modern sound design tools. These influences converge outside of their original contexts through heavy digital audio processing, deconstruction, and arrangement.  The sound can be best described as a disjointed yet symbiotic relationship between the past and the now.

+++ GUN UNITED 02 : P I T - Biotic Network +++

We’re truly happy to open the new year with another addition to our UNITED series, which for each EP in the series, one member of the GUN community collaborates freely with other producers and artists of their choice.

For the second piece in the series, multi-faceted producer and Biodiversità Records founder P I T brings together three up and rising talents : ASJ, myen and migu, whose activities of the past few years consistently kept pushing the boundaries of the electronic soundscape.

Biotic Network is a breeding experiment, a virtual field research that started with an open call to the GUN community to share data such as images, texts or sounds. These gathered multimedia specimens - an aggregation of personal experiences with nature, served as a substrate for the growth of a new life form inspired by mycorrhizal networks and internet archives.

From the moist synthetic echoes of Fungi on My Face.mkv to the interweaved chaos of Sculpting Mycelium.mkv and the encompassing symbiosis of Aggregate.mkv, Biotic Network transcends classifications and carefully crossbreeds counter-balancing sound species. 
The resulting EP is an interconnected web of sounds and imagery, providing us with a fertile ground for future generations of sonic ecosystems.
