It is so nice to put out a mix on soundcloud again, after a very long break. Due to personal reasons and a giving my focus more to live performances, I neglected my favorite platform a bit.

This set is the first of my new mix series for Proton Radio- "As within so Without". Well-respected Proton family have done so many valuable contributions to the electronic music scene over the last years. Now they are pushing for streaming to be fair for everyone- labels, artists, DJs with this new mix series initiative. The set includes only tracks that are released from Proton affiliated labels and it is originally released on Spotify and Apple Music. Subcora - As Within So Without - 001

Number 23 from Continental Drift Records is seems to be all
about the journey. These are slowly evolving
groovy tracks, never staying totally loopy and
often being a bit sly about the direction they're
headed. ‘Perspectives Shift’, the first track and
release namesake, starts out as a floating tune
centering around the Mathew Jonson-style
wandering bassline melody; it gradually churns
thick with rhythmic action and counterpoint
chords. ‘Deep Summer Techno’ is trippy acid that
plays with time and space, maybe channelling a
bit of that CABARET Recordings spirit from
Ospovat's time in Japan. Finally, the whole
B-side is dedicated to Conoley’s re-work of label co-owner
and dear friend c_olvrin’s ‘Cryogenic Freezing Of Friends’; a 
more Chicago-house excursion, full of groove and many-textured details.

The next release from the re-activated Frank & Tony drops on Scissor and Thread. Following on from Dream Vibration - which broke a five year hiatus from the much-lauded production pair of Francis Harris and Anthony Collins - Eastern Meantimes brings us a sublime set of tracks and remixes. 

The original features New York artist Eliana Glass, whose sultry vocals ride above a deep, atmospheric groove and lush pads and washes. 

The track is also presented here with two stellar remixes from Timmy Regsiford, the New York legend who has been defining the sound of house in the city for nearly 40 years. 

Here his vocal and instrumental remixes are smooth, deep and infectious, sure to light up discerning dance- floors the world over. 
Frank & Tony’s Absence is the other original track here, a thick, pulsing bass-driven roller punctuated with sharp snares and the pair’s trademark ethereal pads. 

There’s also a digi exclusive where Regisford teams up with DSOL for a ‘retouch’ of Eastern Melodies - giving the track another flavor, rich in additional percussion and a slightly heavier groove.

Finally getting a vinyl re-release is Frank & Tony’s seminal work with breakout duo Bob Moses. Back in 2012 Francis Harris and Anthony Collins (Frank & Tony) worked with their fellow New Yorkers before they went on to sign to Domino Records.  

The four track EP is a deep, introspective dive into Frank & Tony’s early production work with the understated melancholic vocal stylings of Bob Moses (Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallence) that would pave the way to a new sound in house music. An essential release now for the first time on vinyl, capturing a vital period in both outfits' development.
