Followed up by 'Caught Slippin'' on A2, a groovy, old school-rooted garage house cut completes the A side. 'Ghetto of My mind' featuring RR introduces the B side with a floor-filling, groovily slamming and deeply organ filled 4-to-the-floor club roller, while 'Revue' finishes up the record with a heavily jazz infused, tripled- tuned swing to get down to.

After the chart-topping Keep on Swindling part 1, that included summer anthem ‘All I want’ and the live jazz rework of ‘The break up’ by Emma-Jean Thackray, Dam Swindle are now back with part 2 of their 10-year anniversary series. If you thought the first edition had the goods, you’re in for a treat with this one. Keep on Swindling part 2 includes a new afro-tinged DS original, alongside a never-released remix of an obscure Guadeloupean record and remixes by rising star of the Detroit music scene Ash Lauryn and Rush Hour favorite Arp Frique. To top things off, the boys release their afro-brass dancefloor burner ‘Call of the Wild’ feat. Jungle by Night for the first time on a single.

The Ep closes with a Dam Swindle original for the 2018 album High Life that really needs no introduction: ‘Call of the wild feat. Jungle by Night.’ It’s a track that seems to keep the dancers happy wherever we play it and hasn’t lost any of its appeal in the past four years. Originally only released in album format, this track now makes its way on a single 12” to round off an exciting new release by the Swindles. Enjoy the music, play it loud and remember…

Canada’s Tyler Mesa returns to the imprint with a heady heater, showcasing his range and innovation in the studio. Serene Dream is all about the synthetic hook, which ebbs & flows perfectly over a masterful melody. A soon-to-be club classic from Mesa to kick off the year.

Closing out our third edition of Blanche is our beloved Brazileiro - Maty Owl - who provides an instrumental version of his recent remix for Erdi Irmak. Keep ears tuned, as we have lots more Maty Owl material coming in the near future!

It had been a very long time since he'd come home - he could barely remember the year or season of his last visit. But despite the passing time, little had changed. The same conductor greeted him as the train pulled up to the station; the shop fronts bore the same names and were run by the same faces; and that familiar smell from the bread factory on the corner of town still permeated the air. Even so, there was still a feeling that something was missing, something unexplainable that he couldn't quite put his finger on... maybe it wasn't home, maybe it was him that had changed.

Black Forces made his entrance in 2020 with his politically, emotionally-charged eponymous debut. Released via Mike Simonetti's 2MR imprint, the EP was an introduction to his deep, hazy brand of house and his deftness at crafting infectious energetic beats that stir the mind, body and the soul. His follow up, Black Forces 2, keeps the groove going. Again, finding its place on 2MR, the four-track EP weaves together dusty house jams, shuffling grooves and warm, sultry acid.

Here, Scissor And Thread, the Brooklyn imprint headed by Francis Harris and Anthony Collins share JVXTA’s debut album - Euston Blues. 

The album is a collection of moods and textures, from woozy soundscapes like opener No One Needs to Know and Voyager, to grooving, dusty house tracks like Hold On, Water Temple and Lost in Place. 

Tracks develop from ambient textures into leftfield beat excursions (Beyond) and incorporate thoughtful samples such as the spoken word poetry in The Stolen Child.

Elements of free improvisation and experimentation pepper the album, while a strong thread of atmospheric cohesion winds its way through the eight tracks - making Euston Blues a truly rewarding and rich listening experience. 

"Euston Blues synthesises deep chords, classic house rhythms and jazz laden influences to chronicle an intimate journey of physical and psychological isolation." says Charles Field, the man behind the JVXTA project.

We started working on that track with the take of Niko's vocals and we immediately thought that we were creating some kind of a safe space, like an emotional bunker not only with this track, but with the whole project, so we figured that this could be the EP's title. The "words" that are sung in this piece are totally invented language and they reflect the creative safe space that we want to suggest with this track, which was also the first one where we brought in Kyle's modular sounds. The remix by Thommie G is really deep and we like it very much.

Following on from a number of releases on Pulp, Downbeat, Urban Imagery and the “Discover You” EP on Scissor & Thread, here is Nature Of Reality, the single taken from DaRand Land’s second album Wander Being, released on Scissor & Thread in late November 2024. 





“In particular, the single, The Nature of Reality”, says DaRand, “was written to convey a sense of what it feels like to be in a state of suspended animation. There is a natural tension introduced via the organic, swirling pad progression juxtaposed against endless vocal echoes and the low-end groove of the bassline. Noticeable is the space given to each element across the tracks - the hi-hats sparkle, the snare snaps, and the basslines roll and rumble. Add to this the magic melodic flourishes provided by the pads and synths, reminiscent of the late Mike Huckaby in places, made this whole album a thoughtful, joyful experience.

Boogie is a musical genre that understands a short period of time between the late 70's and early 80's and is marked by the vast use of electronic paraphernalia along with organic instruments in a dancing and overflowing groove context. A musical wave that is the direct daughter of disco music, with the same elements (bass line in the face, the famous beat "four on the floor", wonderful vocals and arrangement of strings) added to the brand new synthesizers, which were the last music technology at the time and fashion in all recording studios.

Exclusive: Axel Boman - Pink Mist

It was back in 2010 when Polish artists Grzegorz Demiañczuk and Wojciech Tarañczuk founded PETS Recordings, the same year when the duo's  sophomore album Escape from Zoo was released – not on the newly founded imprint though. It took another three years then until Grzegorz and Wojciech, commonly known under Catz 'n Dogz and former underground act 3 Channels, put their first EP with Eats Everything out on the label. However, with PETS Recordings the artists have always followed a balanced selection of releasing music from aspiring and renowned artists, from local acts to global players, from Deep House to Techno but always meaningful and foremost beautiful music. For the label's 10th anniversary the duo compiled a 12-track strong various artist compilation coming in three parts and portraying the label's past years musically and hosting tracks from affiliates like Bawrut, Jeigo, Das Komplex, KiNK, Catz 'n Dogz themselves and Studio Barnhus label head Axel Boman. The Stockholmer contributes his take Pink Mist, a rather deep musical approach to the collection. An intriguing chord-sequence underlaid with organs and stalactite sounds as well as sparely used but thus even more catchy spoken vocals Boman creates a track that not only finds a home on the compilation but will do in many DJ playlists as it combines a decent groove with deep melodies that taint one's mind like only love can and therefore hits close to every music lover's heart.
