Tackling the highlights of Nick Höppner's recent full-length Folk is rock solid BR fav, The Black Madonna, who has (surprise, surprise!) turned it into a stormer. Accompanied, as usual, by an eminently "Relate"-able message of humble gratitude, the real calling cards here are the rising, rousing synths that wouldn't sound out of place on a vintage Severed Heads 12". We're informed that it's a Panorama Bar melter, which makes sense: what begins an inviting outstretched palm winds up a slamming clenched fist.

The Folk remix 12" is out very soon, via Ostgut Ton. Keep eyes peeled.

Having collaborated with him twice before i was thrilled when he agreed to add his ridiculous skills to my tribute to the classic Beat Street films soundtrack.
Personally this is my favourite film from way back. The soundtrack is phenomenal,has so many legendary cameo's plus it's main focus is on 2 brothers,1 a DJ and 1 a breakdancer which were  the 2 things i was at the time. I had the names B Boy P and DJ Def Fader back then :)
I have left the ballads out but i think you can forgive me that ;)

‘We Do What We Want’ will be the first release on Alan Fitzpatrick's We Are The Brave label. A cut that took on a life of its own after fan videos from Junction 2 and Hideout Festival sparked hysteria among followers on Twitter for the as-then unnamed track.

Finally revealed during BBC Radio 1’s broadcast of Alan’s set from Hideout Festival, ‘We Do What We Want’ is a euphoric slice of summer rave that’s already showing signs of being Fitzpatrick's biggest track to date.

Berlin based Arttu has been dropping his dusty fat beats across numerous techno labels including Philpot, Clone and 4Lux for a few years but it was 2016’s track ‘Hoodies’ on Arttu’s own imprint Cyblo that caught the attention of Accidental label boss Matthew Herbert (and which remains firmly in Herbert’s record bag). Arttu was invited onto the Accidental Jnr roster and has delivered a chunk of techno with so much swing it made Donkey Kong blush.

Arttu takes the most simple of jazz bass hooks and loops across a rigid kick, it’s when those hats kick in that the groove goes fucking wild. The presence of US native Roberto Q Ingram on vocals brings a full Detroit gangster flavour to the party. Initially Arttu and Roberto had an idea to record a simple and sweaty track with Roberto on the mic and Arttu at the control of some dusty old machines. The result, ‘Bass Trakk’ is exactly that: Roberto dropping lyrics over a raw beat and a massive bassline. The EP is rounded off with a deep bit of techno ‘Debris’ with all the trappings of the darkest hour of a Berlin winter in which it was recorded.

Kevin De Vries delivers big room drama on his ‘Aratak’ EP for Afterlife Recordings. 

Spirited synth lines, drum rolls, gripping moments of silence and weighty kick drums make the title track of De Vries’ Afterlife debut formidable club gear. ‘Sciamachy’ is more subtle, centred around a euphoric arpeggio which spirals to its apex. <p>In the same vein as her recently launched MOOD imprint, Believe is suited to a number of atmospheres and settings. Across the nine original productions and one collaboration with label boss Adam Beyer, Nicole has crafted a sonically diverse long-player of sounds which draw on the plethora of styles electronic music has to offer. From her accustomed techno to twisted house and everything in-between, the stylistic variety on offer means cuts Believe will easily feature in more intimate settings and big-room venues alike. Believe features a host of tracks aimed squarely at the clubs. From the moody Movin On, the bass-heavy Do Your Thing, to the industrial techno grooves on Come And Lay and the hypnotic chanting vocal on Get On It, the techno-aficionados will not be disappointed with what is sublime set of cuts that will no doubt destroy any dance-floor. </p>

<p>In contrast however, there are more intimate moments to be found. For example the rhythmically entrancing yet uplifting Fly With You, to Liberum Spirita with its mazy ethereal breakdown, and the synth-heavy percussive builder Lumière Tamisée. Nicoles further flexes her production muscle with the stripped back dub-flavours of Big Love With No Apology, and a robotic groove-laden funk on the standout Can I Get Some. Believe delivers a consummate body of work with which Nicoles considerable abilities in the studio are clear for all to hear. A wide-range of sounds that is sure to appeal to the idiosyncratic tastes of the various sub-sections of electronic music community. Furthermore, it lives up to the high-standards of previous Drumcode long-players and is an engrossing and impressive debut; and one that offers a smooth segue into the next chapter of an already exciting career.</p>
