Sluggish Selections w/Scoobz invites along Matcha as the next act in the guest mix series. Since her debut in summer 2024, Matcha has graced the decks of some of Belfast’s most prestigious club nights, including a headline set at a sold-out event by the renowned Ponyhawke. In addition, Matcha has played for a number of well-regarded, long-established promoters in the city, such as AVA, Shine, Plain Sailing, Danse Intermission, Haze, and On the Fence, among others. Along the way she has had the opportunity to support talented artists such as DJ Heartstring, Holly Lester, Aika Mal, and Cartin.

Inspired by artists such as Peach, Aldonna, Shanti Celeste, and Angel d’lite, Matcha’s sound is both focused and meticulously crafted, having described it herself as “alien and critter coded”. Blending elements of prog techno, spaced out house, and deep Italo influences Matcha has been forming an exciting sound that’s been captivating audiences.

July's Sluggish Selections featuring a Guest Mix from the excellent Waxpoetic head honcho Ciaron Ó under his new alias Tsundoku

Tsundoku is a vinyl DJ who learned their craft in smoky Belfast kitchens, jumping on the decks around 5am when everyone else was too mangled to work a pitch fader. He’s played out for nights like Dialogue, On The Fence, Fiction and has recently started his own imprint Wax:Poetic, showcasing the best Irish selectors and hoping to restore a small part of the city’s underground spirit.

Scoobz' delivers four cuts of raw club energy on his forthcoming 'A Routine Day' EP. 

Now based in Derry – the cultural home of boundary-pushing festival Celtronic, international underground DJ/producer Or:la and the live electronics of The Cyclist – Scoobz has steadily carved a presence within Ireland’s underground, first gaining national attention with a win at AVA Festival's Emerging DJ Competition—a key platform for rising talent on the island. His profile grew further when Avalon Emerson selected his track "Goth Culchies" for her BBC Radio 1 Residency, spotlighting the producer’s knack for left-of-centre club textures with a distinctly local hue.

The ‘A Routine Day’ EP is inspired by this sense of place, inspired by the timeless sounds of local producers such as Jordan Nocturne. The EPs title track is a cut of ‘lights up’ disco-house, combining percussive drum patterns, kaleidoscopic atmospherics and tasteful soul samples on a club finisher that will send the dancers home with smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes.
