The main street of Vác, Széchenyi, was pretty full of people. In the background, you can find some electronic music playing - for some reason, a DJ was blasting some music to... children. He was playing on a stage with 6 years old, really.

Lot of people at the Danube too, and strong winds, so recording this was a bit hard.

The bells of the Ferences temple at the Danube, and a car - you can hardly walk around that place without hearing some cars, as some people like to play with their cars at the place nearby.

In front of the temple, you could hear what's going on inside, and also, dogs, and for some reason, quite a few of electric cars.

We went to another temple, this time the biggest one in Vác, the Cathedral. At the front of it, there's a space with a lot of reverberation, that's where this was recorded from.

We could ALMOST find some silence in front of a building of my old highschool (Boronkay Tanüzem). The sound of a transformator (and some cars, obviously...) prevented it though.

We went to Piac street, which is normally almost empty. Should be somewhat silent, right?

It's practically impossible to find silence at the Szent István square, it's one of the primary traffic junctions in Vác.

Same with the bus station, no surprise there. :D

Yes, I have already premiered two tracks this week (see Plïnkï Plønkï and Resina), and yes, this is another premiere of a track, and yet it is immensely needed, wanted, and necessary during these somewhat anxious times. “Rjóður” comes from the Icelandic composer Snorri Hallgrímsson, whom I’ve profiled on many occasions before (see also his In the Studio with… feature), as well as celebrated for his film music, which has been backed by the wonderful Moderna Records (home to many fantastic modern classical and solo piano composers, such as Jacob David, Ed Carlsen, Tim Linghaus, Tambour, and even yours truly). This particular piece appears on Hallgrímsson’s second EP titled Landbrot II – the first having been released last November with five pieces, and now, a year later, with five more. “The collection takes its name from the location of Hallgrímsson’s family cabin in rural Iceland, which he describes as his ‘happy place’. Landbrot translates to erosion or ‘land fractures’, and from this, we can imagine the search for inner calm and acceptance amongst the many obstacles of daily life.”

Sketches: Floating Landscape

Today I wanted to do something a bit more energetic. After yesterday's attempt, I realized that I need to do something to make the mixing of the parts more dynamic, so I put together a control template in TouchOSC which allows me to mix levels and the lowpass filters of the different parts of the Volca Sample without having to switch back and forth between them all the time.

Sketches: Corner Shop

Today's keyword was "Silence".

Now I don't know how you would approach this, we walked around my hometown Vác, and could not find a lot of silence. Found a lot else though :D

Also: it was quite fun to walk around with my M-Audio Uber Mic, and record with that, using my phone on the other end of it. It looked ridiculous.

Note that the recordings were taken on a Saturday, around 5-6 PM.
