JAY ME started bursting on the South African music scene in the end of 2016 with her charismatic blend of styles. In the meantime the high-flyer played the „big 5“ of South-African electronic music stages: Cape Town Electronic Music Festival (CTEMF), We House Sundays, Search Festival, Bazique Festival and so many more.

About the CD:
002 of the Classic Mix CD Series and yet another absolute stand out classic. After getting into house at around 15, I guess my only source of info was Danny Rampling's seminal LGDP (Love Groove Dance Party) Saturday nights on Radio 1. However I can't remember Carter getting much coverage on there, yet he, much like Danny Tenaglia seemed to have a level of legend unlike most. This CD cemented my love of house music with an all might smash in the face. The tempo, the bass, the disco, the filters, and fucked up vocals... this was heavyweight. Nothing could compete at the time. I'll always remember driving to college with my 2 nerdy class mates and insisting they played this CD in the car. I'm raving in the back and they are like "What the fuck is this shit, turn it down!". It's with immense pleasure that DJ's like Sneak and Carter seem to be booking all the massive clubs and parties again. I'm not so keen on the whole 'I'm a House Gangster' vibe... but this is as bad as it gets.

As a hobbyist I collect Techno but haven't had chance to record a mix for a long time. I picked a handful of tracks to play and then just got stuck in on two CDJs, having not mixed most of the music before. I tried to build an immersive if sometimes chaotic journey, constantly working to layer tracks on top of each other a part from the occasional break to get more beer, piss or smoke. It won't be for everyone but I would encourage anyone who likes Techno to give it a listen

I've found myself going back and forth about whether I'm feeling "musical" on any particular day, struggling to find new things that inspire me, and using the many emotions this pandemic has brought up to explore new sounds and tell my story in different ways. 

But it's been positive in an unexpected way, too. I've rediscovered my love for deeper, minimal sounds and the simplicity and power that exists within them. 

This edition of my Forms | States mix comes from an afternoon I spent taking a batch of new tunes and playing them for the first time, finding a groove on the fly that spoke to me in the moment. Dive in and see how it speaks to you, too.

Neon Vice Art Car VR Burning Man 2020

Josh Demello stepping up for the latest lock-in mix bringing a power hour and a half showcasing the true Ruckus24 sound. 

Hailing from the Yorkshire's capital of Leeds, Josh Demello started his journey at illegal warehouse raves built around the Acid House sound during the late 90s, he has built himself a name from the beginning. Whether it be promoting parties, showing support for his local scene as a clubber or playing sets, Josh has proven himself to be a worthy player. Starting out with residencies at venues such as Mint Club, The Warehouse, Club Mission in Leeds and later the legendary club Sankeys in Manchester and became the youngest Ministry of Sound Resident at the age of 18 at the brands club in Egypt. Having played alongside some of the world’s biggest names, Demello has earned his stripes as a DJ playing at some of the most respected clubs on the party haven of Ibiza: Privilege, Amnesia and Sankeys to name but a few.

Most recently Josh started his own event Ruckus 24 which has been putting on some incredible parties hosting at unique venues, Mint Warehouse and of course our own Distrikt with an incredible NYE party last year with Julian Perez.

Frenchy has caught our eye on numerous occasions over the years with his ecletic sets & selections across the UK ranging through all things House and Garage. This time round, he has provided us with an insight into his UKG collection.
