For Tom Blackwell.  Tom was a very active funk drummer on the Portland ME scene in the 80s and 90s. I played with Tom for about ten years until 2017 or so. We had a lot of fun. Tom's ability to write music is unusual for a drummer. Tom's compositions were always well thought out, fun, and interesting. He usually sang his songs too. Tom was also a first in class sound engineer. I had hoped to spend time learning sound from Tom after I retire. Alas, I'll be using a Quija board to get tips now.

I'll keep plugging away at this piece. I have to say, it felt like Tom had input. Maybe I don't need a Quija Board after all.

It will probably be the only piece I ever compose in my life because I’m not a musician and I believe I lack many of the qualities and virtues to be one. So, don’t expect much from me. Still, thank you for your support and for sharing.

🎧 🎹 This is a short piece for piano that started as an experiment and gradually took shape. In memory of the woman whose love and sacrifice made me the man I am—my mother 🌸

🎶 I will forever cherish the memory of her immense happiness in learning a short passage from Beethoven's *Ode to Joy* on the piano. Every night, before going to sleep, she would play those simple yet heartfelt notes. *Alma Edilma* is also a heartfelt tribute to a woman whose essence touched so many hearts 💗❤️💗

I always like the stripped down version of songs and when I heard this one, by Gretchen Wilson, I love the raw honesty of how she is asking for space, after an argument and knowing things will be better if she can have the respect of being left alone to process the pain and come by loving again. such an important part of any relationship is to trust and know that things will be okay if ya just give it a day and some time for peace. anyway, this is my very humble rendition of this simple, but real song, that we can all likely relate to. My new track 'Pietà Waltz'. A soft, gentle folk track that I made entirely by myself. My music lately has been leaning a little softer than usual. I am learning that minimal production can heighten the melancholic emotion of a song. It is easy to hide behind heavy production but on this track, I wanted to let the simple melody come through. Every aspect of this song was recorded by myself aside from the drums. I hope you enjoy!
