This is a serialized work based on the number pi, the first 224 decimal points in fact. This is a recording of the premiere performance given in June 2015 at the  nief-norf Summer Festival of Contemporary Music at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. It was just named as a Finalist-Honorable Mention in the 2016 American Prize for Excellence in Composition Chamber Music Professional Division.

Two Superposed Quarter-Tone Improvisations With Barysax

Okay, it's been a while.  Working on all sorts of new rhythms.  This is on the eight-stringed lyre, tuned 6 7 4 8 9 10 11 12.  It's the eleventh harmonic that sounds funky- you can really hear its primeness.

This work is a 16th Century Style Kyrie.  The work was performed by the Repertory Singers of the University of Georgia under the direction of Jean Gomez and Daniel Bara.  The work was a final project in a 16th Century Counterpoint class taught by Peter Van Zandt Lane.

Kaiho ('Saudade') for Carrillo Piano (upright piano with 97 keys, one octave divided into 96 equal steps). First performance at the Muziekgebouw aan t'IJ, Amsterdam, Feb 25, 2018. Ere Lievonen, pianist.
Uses mostly the scale of 18-21-5-13-18-3-5-13 steps in 96edo. The temperament system is known as Porcupine; fifths and minor thirds are tuned wide, and fourth is divided evenly into three steps.

Pentad

Triadically-based modernist music usually suggests some variety of minimalism, but this intensely ergodic piece certainly does not belong to that  category despite certain points of contact with work that does.  

Title refers to two of the ten kinds of waterfall, the two noted for their high energy.

Cataracts And Cascades for piano six hands

This is a piece for piano based on Neo-Riemannian theory. It is a MIDI version performed by a VST piano from the Vienna Symphonic Library. You can also hear a real version played by Edward Cohen, a pianist from Scotland:

Nowadays I'm a classical composer, experimenting with unusual modes, Just Intonation, free improvisation, electronic composition, unusual instruments, and so on.
