Donna Summer's musical director Scott Hallgren shared with the radio audience and The Time Machine's host Michael McCartney, his memories of working with the brilliant artist Donna Summer.  During a week long tribute on the air after her passing on May 17th of 2012, this Maui afternoon FM broadcast segment was a portion of a non-stop musical tribute in honor of Donna's legacy.

Scott is a Silver Telly & CINE award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist whose early interest in music led him to study jazz piano and arranging at the University of Miami (Florida). He later relocated to Nashville to pursue his dream of working as a recording and touring musician. During the next decade, Scott served as Donna Summer's musical director and pianist, after a stint in Steve Wariner's band. He also toured with Margaret Becker, The Wilkinsons, and Fernando Ortega, and supported other artists such as: Sir Elton John, Aaron Neville, Andrae Crouch, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Skaggs, Eddy Arnold, David Foster, Larry Gatlin, and Marc Antony.

After touring, Scott decided to focus on his composing and arranging skills. He has since scored or provided music for movies that have been seen worldwide.

Tom Waits (on Jim Wilson): "Wilson, he's always playing with time. I heard a recording recently of crickets slowed way down. It sounds like a choir, it sounds like angel music. Something sparkling, celestial with full harmony and bass parts - you wouldn't believe it. It's like a sweeping chorus of heaven, and it's just slowed down, they didn't manipulate the tape at all. So I think when Wilson slows people down, it gives you a chance to watch them moving through space. And there's something to be said for slowing down the world."
