When you’re in the car, the sun’s shining, and a wry smile creeps across your face because that track makes you feel so good. When you catch someone’s eye on the dance floor and that simple nod of acknowledgment resonates with you both in that moment.

Stratus : Songs For Susumu

This mix was originally meant to be recorded live at my next gig in Edinburgh at the end of the month. When it looked like I’d have to cancel, I decided to record it at home instead - just to share the vibe I had planned.

But the gig’s now back on, and the mix took on a life of its own. I kept going, extending it into a five-hour session that moves through all the sounds I’ve been drawn to lately - from new to old, much deepness and some feet shufflers.

Wanted to also pay tribute to the late great genius that was D'Angelo. May he rest in power x

Scott Proper : A Day In The Life

This one is for my best mate - someone who’s been in my life for more than thirty years. Ade’s asked me for a mix for ages, but I think I needed all that time just to choose which tracks to put on the damn thing, as he loves music as much as me and wanted to give a spread of the music we both love.

It’s a little tribute to the life we’ve lived together - the adventures, the heavy conversations, the times we held each other up (him, more than me), and the countless moments that somehow stitched our lives together.

There aren’t many people you grow alongside in this world. Ade is one of them. Someone who’s seen every version of me and never flinched. Someone I love like a brother, and someone I’ll always stand by.

This is for everything we’ve been through, and everything still ahead of us.

p.s Also a little dedication in there for my other (hairy) brother, Jackson. RIP.

It's been 30 years since I started playing records to people, so I thought I'd dig a few of them out and go back to 'about that time'.
