The Blueprints EP marks the welcome return of the talented Toulouse based producer Redeyes. Following a number of releases on seminal labels such as Bingo, Creative Source, Innerground and Brownswood in the mid 2000s, Redeyes then decided to take a step back from music production. Now returning as a more complete and mature artist, his Blueprints EP on Lenzman’s The North Quarter imprint sends an exciting message of where Julien Salvi stands in 2017.

Comprising of an ambitious nine tracks, Redeyes’ Blueprints EP showcases his exquisite musicianship and ability in the studio throughout each piece of music. In true North Quarter style, he effortlessly breaks down the boundaries between Drum & Bass and Hip Hop, whilst fully maintaining the soulful and heartfelt aesthetic that he is known and revered for.

The release sees him join forces with a plethora of exciting talent. ‘100 Porsches To The Stars’ brings him together with underground LA rap hero Hus Kingpin for a lo-fi Hip Hop masterclass. He also collaborates with Mancunian don Black Josh, Children of Zeus’ infamous Tyler Daley, North Quarter chief Lenzman, and many more.

Oliver Ferrer (@oliverferrer) makes his debut for Innerground with a beautiful pairing of tracks on the True Love EP. 

Oliver Ferrer is bringing that Brazilian flair with him as he rolls out "True Love" and "Looking For Someone" - both of which have received some heavy rotation from our very own DJ Marky on stage and in studio mixes for the likes of @djmag and @fabric . 

"True Love" & "Looking For Someone" both draw on some fantastic instrument work - the former working with keys and the latter holding true to the rolling vibe with a string accompaniment. 

All in all another set of tried and tested rollers drenched in summer vibes.

Following on from Pictures Of You ft. DRS and Rain ft. Children Of Zeus earlier this month, Lenzman sparked an uproar of excitement as speculation arose for his next LP. Today, Lenzman makes a return to Goldie’s Metalheadz label to drop the Bobby LP.

Gliding through sub-genres of hip-hop, jazz and soul, Lenzman’s new album is forward-thinking with complimenting crossovers that still connect with the current drum and bass scene. Across this boundary defying journey, Lenzman draws on a cascade of mellow and weighty subs, soft and rich vocal tones from collaborators DRS, Children Of Zeus and Konny Kon whilst guest producers Artificial Intelligence and LSB lend their notable skills to the LP with nostalgic melodies. Amongst the intricate sound design also lies sentimental influence of family and childhood that has served as the essential foundation to bind the LP together:

“I became a father a year or so before starting the album. My daughter had also named her stuffed toy “Bobby” at the time,” Lenzman explains. Although the LP was already taking shape that was fitting for me as a title. Becoming a Dad had made me revisit my own childhood and look at it from a different angle. The memories, influences and music from that period of my life were the most vivid in my mind... the moods and feelings, all translated into the music on the LP. I was raised by my father and he used to draw a lot back in those days, so it was fitting for him to draw the cover, fragments of my childhood put onto paper.”

Since stepping on the scene in 2007, Lenzman has continued to flourish as an artist known for his fluid approach and bold collaborations. Whilst producing his own originals including his debut LP Looking At The Stars in 2014 and Golden Age EP in 2016, the revered producer has also provided the remix treatment for Joe Hertz’ One Another and The Mouse Outfit’s Feeling High. Having released on the likes of Spearhead Records, SGN:LTD, Soul:r and his rising North Quarter imprint over the years, the Bobby LP on Metalheadz is primed to satisfy the bubbling cravings of patiently waiting Lenzman fans whilst capturing the ears of a wider global audience as he releases his most seminal body of work to date.

Carlito & Addiction are both artists who have been at the forefront of D&B ever since its original movement, with residencies at two London club nights that helped shaped the scene we all know and love today - Speed (later Swerve) and Movement.  When not out on the road, they were in the studio crafting some the most prolific music in D&B’s golden era, such as ‘Supergrass’ on Defunked Records and ‘Just Wanna Be’ for Fabio’s Creative Source. 
  
The duo played a vital role in shaping the more musical side of Drum and Bass and are frequently referenced as a source of inspiration by emerging talent. Having reunited after a long absence from the scene they announce their return with a single on DJ Marky’s Innerground imprint, and they’re now back in the studio working on new music. Having never graced the label before Bryan Gee knew he had to get them involved this time around and we’re delighted to welcome them to V Recordings. ’Spinner’ and ‘Rain On Me’ shine with classic V Recordings atmospheres, both with heavy sub undertones, this is a serious release for serious people.

Scott grew up in Seattle, Washington (USA), and was a big music lover at a young age. At 10 years old, he fell in love with new wave music and the synth-driven tunes of the early 80’s. A couple of years later, he began a new passion, collecting Hip-Hop music. 

When Scott was 18 years old, he moved to the L.A. area to attend college and play water polo at Chapman University. When he moved into his dorm room he met his future deejay partner and Neosoul band partner, Tim Andren. Scott and Tim would spend hours talking about music and seeing who could supply the best, most underground Hip-Hop tune with the most addictive beats and sounds. During this period in his life, Scott was introduced to Breakbeat, Hardcore Breaks, early Jungle, and Ambient Dub Music. Scott immediately fell in love with the overall feel and freedom of the music.

At about the age of 21, Scott and his roommates bought their first set of turntables and the passion for the music grew into an intense love. About 2 weeks after he bought his turntables, he was already circulating his mix tapes and getting booked to play at clubs and parties in L.A. After a year or two of playing local shows, Scott began playing shows all over the USA and Canada, exposing these areas to the Neosoul breakbeat sound. He was fortunate enough to play alongside such heavy-hitting acts as DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Bassbin Twins, Simply Jeff, and many other big names.

When the breakbeat scene slowed down around 2001, Scott went back to his roots in electronic music and began enjoying the sounds of Jungle music, only now the music was more refined. He began to go to Drum & Bass events and would catch LTJ Bukem & Conrad, and the rest of the Good Looking crew every time they would perform in the Southern California area. He was drawn to the melodic, jazzy, and ethereal sounds of Drum & Bass music, and he especially liked it with Conrad hypnotically weaving his lyrics over the tunes. He began collecting Drum & Bass records and also started producing Drum & Bass in about 2004. It was also around this time that Scott further developed his passion for Reggae and Dub music. You can definitely hear the influence that these genres of music have had in his music.

His production became more serious when people started hearing his songs and began to show interest in wanting more of his sound. After a few years of producing and getting a number of tracks signed to major labels, Scott decided to start his own label, Soul Deep Recordings. Since Soul Deep’s inception in January 2011, the label has seen a great amount of success and has been established as one of the top Liquid/Deep/Jazzy labels in the music game. 

In addition to releasing many EP’s on Soul Deep, Scott has released music on a number of other top labels including, Fokuz, Celsius, Good Looking, Smooth N Groove, Telluric, Celsius, Soul Rebel, Jazzsticks, Phuzion, Liquid V, Atmomatix and Sheer Velocity.
