A year to remember has seen Scott Andrews emerge triumphant in 2013, further cementing a career that has risen steadily since he burst onto the underground house scene in 2011, as he now enters 2014 with his "Expressions of the Soul" for Proton Music. Under his Scotty.A contraction, Scott's notoriety in hometown DJ circles from the turn of the millennium in Norwich, has quickly blossomed into events across the UK and beyond. Subsequent appearances at Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, and Pacha in the London capital have been augmented by a series of impressive international gigs. Alongside such luminaries as Dave Seaman, Guy J and Oliver Lieb, Scotty.A has delivered a compelling blend of cross-genre underground sounds that have led to appearances at John Digweed's Bedrock night in London and an extraordinary performance at Sasha's New Year's Eve, Last Night On Earth event at London's famous Brixton Academy in front of 5,000 celebrating fans. A similarly impressive production career first saw the Scotty.A name up in lights as a result of winning the Denis A remix competition for the track "Heroin". A subsequent release on DAR Digital launched a production career that has continued a steep upwards trajectory and has seen almost 100 Beatport production credits to his name on imprints such as ARVA, Axon, and Balkan Connection. A productive year for Proton has seen a remix of Tvardovsky's "Path of Light" and a full release of "What makes Us Smile" for Particles, followed by the release of two original works for the flagship Proton Music label in the shape of "The World Turns" and "Natural Senses" EPs. Supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Ben Coda and Jacob Henry, Scotty.A now returns to Proton Music at the start of 2014 with the stunning twin-track, "Expressions of the Soul". Opening track, "The Way She Smiles", sees Scott embracing his inimitable "hypnotic amalgamation of house, techno and electronica" with a tech house gem full of luscious sheen. Shimmering chord stabs weave a rhythmic pattern beneath swaying percussive hats and a bass line that prints its melodic underpinnings upon the listener's very soul. As textured layers evolve, ebbing and flowing with unconscious ease, the listener is treated to something very special indeed. Partner track, "Soul Blossom", revels in underground progressive glory. Subtle melodic motifs full of glassy reverberated texture, play charmingly against a collage of soft hypnotic stabs and straight house beats to form a bed on which they lie in perfect harmony. A cadenced bass line completes the picture as is drives the track relentlessly onwards allowing the melodic components to flourish with majestic ease. As Scotty.A continues on his path of musical enlightenment, his "Expressions of the Soul" are a source of rich spiritual nourishment.

German legend, Oliver Lieb needed no introduction to the techno cognoscenti when he joined the Proton Music roster at start of 2014. Already a producer of considerable repute, his powerful "Dark Energy" EP thrust forth with pulsating precision, returning now to Proton Music for the first time with a pair of remixes from two of the brightest shining stars of 2013 as Tim Penner and Scotty.A now revisit Oliver Lieb's Proton debut.

UK artist Scott Andrews, operating out of the cathedral city of Norwich, has been a revelation since winning a remix competition for Denis A's "Heroin" on the Russian's DAR imprint. An accomplished DJ in his hometown since the turn of the millennium, further recent successes in the live arena have seen him perform at the John Digweed "Bedrock" night in London and Sasha's "Last Night On Earth" New Year's Eve gig at the capital's famous Brixton Academy. Over a century of Beatport production credits have been simultaneously amassed as a cross-genre style has seen Scotty provide best sellers for ARVA, Visceral and Axon, supported by such leading lights as Hernan Cattaneo, Barry Jamieson, and Tvardovsky.

A rapidly rising star in the Proton firmament, Scotty.A's first remix of Nick Stoynoff in 2012 was followed by two masterful solo EPs in 2013 as "The World Turns" and "Natural Senses" releases provided commercial success. 2014's recent, "Expressions of the Soul" cemented further triumph and confirmed a special rising talent. Remixing "Caldera", Scotty.A's richly textured offering is a joy to behold. Light shaking rhythms glide effortlessly across a path laden with percussive groove, vocal cut and an evolving rhythmic pad that warms the soul. As it develops, an ethereal lead line provides an emotive ambience, combined with liquid arpeggio that rises and falls in panned and filtered subtlety, expertly hinting at themes integral to Lieb's original.

Shooting to public notoriety in 2011 after winning the DAR remix competition for label owner Denis A’s “Heroin”, the Norwich born producer saw immediate support from no lesser luminaries than Way Out West and Hope Recordings leading light, Nick Warren, and Argentina’s finest and Sudbeat head honcho, Hernan Cattaneo. Powered by deep, rhythmic chords, the hypnotic bed provides ample opportunity for an effortlessly smooth and undulating pad to wend its path from the mid point onwards combined with a reverb-soaked, top-end pluck, creating an ethereal work of intrigue and depth.
 
Intriguingly titled partner track, “Out in the Boonies”, continues Scotty’s evolution in sound with its subtle tech house flavours. Shuffling house rhythms combine with thumping beat as a melodious pad sweeps forth. Long time friend to the Proton Music project, UK based producer, Scotty.A has been at the vanguard of the modern underground dance for over five years. Presented with the opportunity to curate his own sampler EP based upon a deeper sound, developed in his studio and at gigs over the past eighteen months, Scotty.A's infectious enthusiasm ensured a trio of the underground scene's brightest talents jumped at the opportunity to contribute music that would go alongside a new original track of his own. The resultant EP sees Scotty.A joined by Dutch, Argentinean and UK talents as "Transatlantic (Compiled by Scotty.A)" now opens international borders.

Scotty's "Keeping the Faith" is thus a glorious tech house infused work that bristles with dynamic metrical energy. Developing at pace, smooth, rich chord progressions make their presence felt, juxtaposed against the subtle urgency of rhythmic stabs that nestle exquisitely within rhythmic and bass lines.

Operating out of the Dutch capital, Amsterdam resident Frank Maris has made a significant impact in short order, finding a home on the Che Armstong owned Axon imprint with a whole raft of original productions to his name. Work for Particles sits neatly alongside a rework of Scotty.A's "Chapter's End" for Proton Music, as Maris now adds "Aleph" to his portfolio. A techno masterstroke sees a hypnotic rhythm section balanced with layers of filtered and modulated pads that are a study in movement. Clever chord progressions add to the rhythmic flair in a work that is a joy to behold.

The third offering sees Argentinean, David Calo, make his presence felt. Prowess behind the decks has seen him share the stage with Alan Fitzpatrick and Whebba at clubs such as Pacha and Bahrein in the Buenos Aries capital, while production work for Dopamine, Nuevadeep and Crossfade Sounds has accelerated Calo's career, supported by Nick Warren, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo. A remix of Scotty.A in 2014 marked David Calo's debut on Proton Music, followed now by his first original work for the label. "Restore" is thus a stomping tech house monster that revels in cavernous bass while percussive groove takes hold in languid fashion. Softly ushered melodic elements are a welcome addition as the track evolves through the mid point resulting in a work of impressive flair.

A man renowned for a deep, soulful sound, DJ appearances across the UK and Europe have cemented Anthony Yarranton's growing reputation. Another regular on the Axon imprint, Yarranton has seen his production talent also feature on Lowbit, Particles and Baroque. A debut five-track offering in the "Soul Tax" EP was a high point in a rapidly devloping career, and now, returning to Proton with "Another Half", Yarranton's trademark rhythmic sensibilities are fully to the fore in this deep house offering that revels in metronomic beat and thickly textured pads. A sinister pitched down vocal cut adds further to the deep house nature and an occasional melodic riff adds a touch of intrigue in the latter stages to a work of genuine talent.

A quartet of new tracks compiled by Scotty.A has seen "Transatlantic" united by common musical bonds.

Oscar Ozz launches I'm So Cold / Dynamisch into space from a top secret area nestled within a nondescript Tulipa grove. The gardens prepare to observe the skies as the seminal masterpiece begins raining down vibrant blue sparks from the heavens. Hypnotic composers Sasch BBC & Caspar, Ron Flatter, and Scotty.A take turns modifying the original tunes into musical experiences which symbolize individual conceptions of artistic consciousness. The final moments of I'm So Cold / Dynamisch exist as a wall of sound echoing off of a nearby canyon wall. The music bounces back toward the Tulipa gardens and into the hearts of smitten romantics.

The lone remix of 'Defy Everything' comes from Scotty.A who is making his debut on Movement Recordings . Scotty has just come off a great appearance on DAR Digital's 'Showcase 001' compilation which is still doing quite well in the Beatport charts. Scotty's deep and mesmerizing sound continues to be a favourite of both Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren who began championing his productions well over a year ago now. For Scotty's 'Defy Everything' interpretation the UK producer has once again cast a marvellous shimmering haze over the proceedings which is just a pleasure to listen to. Irresistible electronics hooks, deep impact filled bass lines and sheets of washed out atmosphere create a truly surreal environment as the track builds. With the hypnotic momentum already sky high a set of dynamic stabs delivers an added bit of intensity which is sure to push your dance floor over the edge as the track reaches an exhilarating apex.
