I've followed the dance music scene since the late 80s, went clubbing and raving in the 90s. I love most styles of dance music and some other genres too, but my main love is early 90s club and rave music. I have been a DJ since the early 90s, starting my trade on Vinyls of course!
90s Old School House, Acid House and Techno will always be a part of my life, and my best memories were in the Metro Nightclub in Saltcoats, Scotland (hence the many 'Metro Retro' mixes I have done) Many a fine night spent there in the early 90s
I just loved the culture of anything goes! You could dress how you pleased and nobody gave a shit! And the music was just so fresh and not really categorised, it was all just dance music to us, or House music. You'd have some dark sounding techno one minute, uplifting house the next! Just loved that scene! I also spent a good few nights in Heaven Nightclub in Glasgow in 91 and 92 (Listen to my One Night in Heaven mixes for a flavour of the tunes). It was dark and sweaty and the tunes were a little harder! Hanger 13 at Ayr Pavilion was a favourite haunt in 93 and 94. I also went to other clubs like Fubar in Stirling and of course the legendary Arches in Glasgow as well as many, many raves!
