The inspiration for this track was the Netflix documentary My Octopus Teacher. I have always identified with this fascinating and misunderstood animal from the depths but, until watching the documentary, wasn't aware of the extent of their genius nor of their nobility. They are lone animals, extremely shy, elusive and mysterious, but give them a chance and they will form bonds of trust, friendship and playfulness.

After being awe-struck and incredibly moved by the realisations explored in the documentary, I created the Octopus Flow with the purpose of facilitating one's connection to the octopus as a spirit animal. To both empathise with their frailty and the challenges they face in this anthropocentric world (as they themselves, along with their habitats, are increasingly commodified and destroyed) as well as embody the powerful traits of these highly intelligent, metamorphic, dexterous, decentralised, strategic, mysterious creatures.

Da Iguana is both urban and organic. Instrumentalist ever since he was a kid, Da Iguana has explored many styles until Hip Hop and its instrumentals invaded his life for good and gave him that passion for loops and samples. 
Da Iguana fell for electronic music 4 years ago, revisiting the way he composed and mixed, adding a dosis of his other passion: travelling. From 60 to 140 bpm, from jungle to desert, from ethnic grooves to electronic loops... 

This EP moves between lightness and darkness, gathering Da Iguana’s sonic memories from the jungle & its wildlife (Corcovado), Cuban vibes, Caribbean tropical storms and his encounter with the Surinamese community in Amsterdam…

Da Iguana - El Jaguar Caza Feat. Sāgarā (Original Mix)

These 5 tracks are a sample of some of the music that I've written so far as an undergraduate music composition student.

The first piece is a solo work for Alto Saxophone and Piano. I don't have it recorded yet, so what you get is a high quality MIDI sampling of clarinet and piano produced via Sibelius, using the East/West Symphonic Orchestra Gold library.

The second piece is a woodwind quartet, also using MIDI samples from the East/West Symphonic Orchestra Gold library.

The third piece is a string quartet that is still in progress. What I have uploaded are the first 3 movements.

#4 is a MIDI version of an orchestral piece I wrote last year. I do have a live recording with my University's orchestra, but the sound quality isn't the best and some of the percussion is missing. Therefore, I just went with the MIDI version.

The last piece is a set of 3 movements for piano. These were performed live on my junior recital last year (not by me), and I've spliced the audio together to make one track.

Keeping the momentum of recent sought after releases, Intergalactic Faerie Funk, (AKA IFF) returns to NYC imprint releisure a deep and considered 12”. Like IFF’s previous outing on releisure, the 'Save The Robots EP' gets a lot right. The release is an impeccably produced nod to the diverse range of influences on IFF’s sonic identity and contains all the classic hallmarks of quality house music.

Our premiere sits on the B2. ‘A Rainy Day On Mt Vernon’ establishes an organic atmosphere that is equal parts eerie while a warm kick-clap combo drives things forward. Despite the ostensible hive of activity, the track is refreshingly stripped back. Allowing each sound its breathing space, IFF creates the kind of rich textured loops that transform into worlds to get lost in. With tender tones and gentle grooves, the mood is cozy and inviting, with a pervasive sense of calm. This is a track that provides a comforting kind of warmth that would be equally welcomed in the living room as on the dancefloor of a party at its tail ends.

The four-tracker is set to drop later this month through Lobster Distribution.

'Teleporter’ is the new joint EP from Deft & Lewis James; a natural pairing of minds for a project that has been long in the making. Both have indirectly crossed paths via separate releases and collabs on Exit Records and 1985 Music, and now come together on Deft’s own B4 Music.

Both artists are well versed in creating a balanced combination of atmospheric soundscapes, heavy sound design and emotively driven electronic music (evident in their last releases for 20/20 LDN / Hooversound and Exit / Astrophonica respectively), which ’Teleporter’ does not fall short on.

With varying tempos and paces, the EP dips into new territories that both have adapted and developed to make their own. Taking influence from their already familiar backgrounds in Bass, Footwork, DnB, Hip Hop / Beats, the result is four ominously threatening, sub heavy dance floor cuts, uncompromising in mood, tone and aggression.

Title track ‘Teleporter’ comes in at 128bpm with echos of the 140 sound, and demonstrates the impact of a single note sub-bass line, drums and a frantic melodic hook; distorted, dirty and fierce.

Carrying through the fraught melodic hook energy is ‘Peepo’; a playfully chaotic half-time/beats stomper, driven with booming 808’s layered with precise and outlandish sound design.

‘Octo’ is the 170bpm roller of the release, a slight breather from the previous tracks that progressively builds tension and apprehension via its infectious percussion loop, haunting & hypnotic melodics and driving sub drones.

‘Wolf 504 b’; dystopian melodics and soundscapes drift and crescendo over slamming drums and a scowling, distorted bassline, bringing this collaborative effort to an enigmatic close.
