wow, done with GB? which strings did you use?

@user-167794867: Hey Leon, thanks for listening!  First of all, all the instruments I use except for the drums are under the ‘Keyboard’ section. You click on ‘More Sounds’, and then all the acoustic instruments are under the ‘Other’ section.  I use the ‘Strings Staccato’ from there.  The woodwinds instruments are really great to.  I don’t really like the ‘Strings Sustain’ in GarageBand, I think they sound to airy and hissy.  For sustained notes, I like to go to ‘Synth Pads’ and use a patch called ‘Hollywood Strings’.  They don’t really sound exceptional by themselves, but when they’re mixed in with a lot of other instruments they’ll get the job done.   The Alchemy synth has some really nice patches that blend well with the acoustic instruments.

I almost made it to the portal, the one that would take me home, but then the sky suddenly darkened, the wind picked up, and  I could feel an ice cold chill in the air.  The sand beneath my feet began to shift, and before I knew it I was being taken away by a massive ghost ship.  There are clearly forces that don't want me to leave this place.  

It took me through a violent sand storm.  It was full of flashing lights, and images of people and places I once knew played like a movie on a screen made of clouds.  I must have passed out because once the dust settled I could see that I had traveled all the way to the edge of the desert.  Trees.  Lots of trees up ahead....

Finger picking. I wrote this one on uke, wearing a baby in a baby sling underneath, pacing the apartment for hours while he refused to sleep every night for a month or two. It's conceivable that the melody belongs to someone else? It seems really familiar, in that familiar accidental-purloinery way (like the time I "wrote" a song that was already a Beach Boys song, and it just sounded soooo familiar!) Oh well. At very least, it borrows heavily from elements that have existed for a long time. 

What else? Glad you asked! Micah and I have released our first EP as Letterpress Mighty. I'll tell you more about that later, because we're still in the process of releasing tracks here:

That EP is hard-won, and represents about two years of writing and recording work, through an irreparable computer crash, some broken equipment, a replacement computer and new software, three grueling semesters of school, a new house - I could keep going, but you get it. It's been hard, and it took longer than I wanted. That's partially why I'm soo excited that it's released. I'll be sharing each of those tracks to my page here as well, and I sincerely think you will enjoy it.
