Mood Swing & Chevy Bass X Cheshire have served up ‘No One Above’, a deep and brooding glitch-hop number that’s riddled with original instrumentation, growling basslines, stuttered vocals, and a sound-scape that’s so sci-fi that when it came to remix duties there was only one name we could think of. Unfortunately, they weren’t available, so we gave our pal @wbbl a call - who flipped it into an infectious bass house belter - perfecto!

Wrapping up the release, Swim Inc joins the Mood Swing & Chevy Bass collab party with ‘Higher’. A bass-heavy glitch funk groover, built around a sample that’s just on the tip of your tongue but also never quite there, making it instantly recognisable and completely original at the same time - a rare combo indeed.

Native to Auckland New Zealand, the long-haired @funk_ferret is world renowned for being notoriously good at digging for the sweetest samples; curating the finest mixtapes; crafting fantastic arrays of the chunkiest beats - in an effort to attract a mate; is hypoallergenic, and mostly ventures out at night. We are truly delighted to welcome our fellow furry friend to the Freemix family, and to our ever growing roster of certified party starters. 

In his debut Freemix EP package he serves up ‘Disco Down’ - a sleazy mid-tempo disco-inspired groover with lashings of hip hop vocals, square synths, and super punchy drums. We'd crouch in their shower to pass them gels and lotions; we'd sit on top of their toilet to pass them pieces of toilet paper as and when needed; we'd smooth their hair and 'shhh' them whilst they slept..the final straw came when we got caught foraging through their underwear drawers like pigs snuffling for truffles. It took a long time to get this tune finished because Mr Stabalina did indeed throw his hands in the air, and because he’s made of helium and sex musk, they floated off and were taken by an eagle.

We contacted Team America but they kept repeating ‘Mmmaaattt Dammmmmooonnnn’, over and over; we contacted The A-Team but they refused to travel; we contacted the Time Team but they had a problem with their geophys; no answer at all from The Suicide Squad. In the end we tracked them down with a sex-musk-o-meter. Hello. My name is Mr Stabalina. You stole my hands. Prepare to die.*

Safely back in the studio we’ve been trying alternatives to throwing actual hands in the air. We’ve tried ants, pants and washing machines, but after getting stung, arrested and breaking very many bones we’d recommend just sticking with your hands and damn the consequences.

*The Eagle and Mr Stabalina formed a firm friendship and are now fighting crime in Guatemala.

Mood Swing & Chevy Bass X Cheshire have served up ‘No One Above’, a deep and brooding glitch-hop number that’s riddled with original instrumentation, growling basslines, stuttered vocals, and a sound-scape that’s so sci-fi that when it came to remix duties there was only one name we could think of. Unfortunately, they weren’t available, so we gave our pal @wbbl a call - who flipped it into an infectious bass house belter - perfecto!

Wrapping up the release, Swim Inc joins the Mood Swing & Chevy Bass collab party with ‘Higher’. A bass-heavy glitch funk groover, built around a sample that’s just on the tip of your tongue but also never quite there, making it instantly recognisable and completely original at the same time - a rare combo indeed.

“Arrrrggghaaa arrrrghaaaa! Cries Tarzan, and all the beasties come a running. The ground shakes to a thousand pairs of thundering hooves. Tarzan stands stock still in a large clearing, wet-look soft rock hair glistening in the sunlight, loincloth tight, nonchalantly cleaning his nails as the beasts bear down on him… Oooof! The beasties just steamrollered over him and come to a screeching halt at the feet of…  Charlie Beale! Waggles and The Fritz are in matching pink tights and tu-tu’s, instructing a chorus line of flamingos the flamenco. Dephicit has covered his chin with lemon curd (again) and is now sporting an incredibly hipster beard made entirely of ants and wasps. X-Ray Ted is playing with the monkeys…oooh, they really shouldn’t be flinging that stuff around, it’ll get in someone’s eye! Get a room! Mr Stabalina is teaching the cutie meerkats to swear, he’s going to hell for that! Bear Twists is..oh my god, he’s TWISTING BEARS! Oh wait, he’s just giving Baloo a Chinese burn. General News turns to the camera, waves a glitter cannon filled with hallucinogenic frogs and says in his best Tony Montana voice, “Say hello to my little friends” and fires his psychoactive ammo. Bam!  …hey, why are my hands so big? Why has everything gone purple? Woah, can you see elephants?

Some say he used the internet. Believers say the music flew out of the decks, hit the dance-floor, was osmosed into crowds of adoring dancers who sweated it into the ground, the cows chewed it up and pumped rainbows of happy methane into the atmosphere which rained laser skittles into a Father Funk funnel we’ve had erected on the roof of Scour HQ - whereby our oompa lumpas froze it and sailed it to the studio through the tunnel of love and chocolate sauce sea. Or it was the internet?

Either way - It rocks funkin’ hard and we’re close-to-tears honoured to share it with you all.

We've been squirrelling away behind the scenes over the summer, and we think we've finally cracked it! Bringing together two artists of such magnitude that the Avengers would have to reassemble to stop this party. The Fritz is a lovely legend, he always does nice things and only ever thinks happy thoughts. When life serves him lemons, he makes us lemon meringue pie! 

We’ve had the pleasure of him stalking us in our hometown for some time now, and once, in an outrage over his wonderfulness, we tripped him up at the top of the stairs on purpose. He promptly picked himself up and pointed out that our form was wrong and spent the next three hours making us trip him up until we did it to perfection. He beamed at us through bloody, broken teeth. 

Unsurprising then that he’s produced an ultra schweet debut EP of utter beauty. Eight years in the making (thanks to Spinforth's notoriously fussy ears) - each track has been stewed and refined to absolute perfection - it’s happy, it’s positive, and emphatically Fritz-y. 

It’ll make you think of summer and generally thaw your teets during this cold snap - you’ll love it (or we can provide you with his address and you can throw him down the stairs too).

Mr Stabalina is a happy man and it’s infectious. He only seems to make good-time music that causes immediate engorgement and big cheesy grins. He makes children dance and old people get happily fingered. He wakes in the morning and cartoon birds flutter through his window and dress him whilst carrying him to the breakfast table, where aggressively ovulating chickens have prepared him soufflé. He moonwalks to the studio and everyone he passes stops and grins and spontaneously orgasms. How does he do it? We don’t know! http://soundcloud.com/Spinforth started his weekly* Scour for the http://soundcloud.com/Ghettofunk website back in January 2011, assisted by fellow Hong Kong Ping Ponger's Morphosis and Fat Harry. His quest was to seek out the choicest cuts from the freshest, often unheard of, producers ploughing their trade on SoundCloud. The Scour soon blossomed into a bit of a phenomenon, unearthing some of the finest producers to not yet have their tracks out in the DJ scene!

With incredible numbers of people checking out the weekly* posts, it seemed a logical next step to set up a brand new digital label, showcasing, and officially releasing, the creamiest of the crop of The Scour. Boom! http://soundcloud.com/scourrecords was born!

Expect all Scour traditions to be upheld throughout the initial releases; selection process, BPM order, making up of new words, a touch of nepotism from time to time, it's all here.
