“Arrrrggghaaa arrrrghaaaa! Cries Tarzan, and all the beasties come a running. The ground shakes to a thousand pairs of thundering hooves. Tarzan stands stock still in a large clearing, wet-look soft rock hair glistening in the sunlight, loincloth tight, nonchalantly cleaning his nails as the beasts bear down on him… Oooof! The beasties just steamrollered over him and come to a screeching halt at the feet of…  Charlie Beale! As I live and breathe! “Awright Geezers?” says Charlie, “Welcome to Freemixed Nuts Volume 4” and the elephants trumpet euphorically. 

The camera pans around to Leo who’s wearing a banana fancy dress outfit, grinning from ear to ear in the arms of a lovestruck silverback. Waggles and The Fritz are in matching pink tights and tu-tu’s, instructing a chorus line of flamingos the flamenco. Dephicit has covered his chin with lemon curd (again) and is now sporting an incredibly hipster beard made entirely of ants and wasps. X-Ray Ted is playing with the monkeys…oooh, they really shouldn’t be flinging that stuff around, it’ll get in someone’s eye! Get a room! Mr Stabalina is teaching the cutie meerkats to swear, he’s going to hell for that! Bear Twists is..oh my god, he’s TWISTING BEARS! Oh wait, he’s just giving Baloo a Chinese burn. General News turns to the camera, waves a glitter cannon filled with hallucinogenic frogs and says in his best Tony Montana voice, “Say hello to my little friends” and fires his psychoactive ammo. Bam!  …hey, why are my hands so big? Why has everything gone purple? Woah, can you see elephants?

At one of my shows in San Francisco recently I got one of the strangest song requests of my career. I was in the middle of mixing in a funky glitch hop throw back banger, when a girl came up and asked for some Fleetwood Mac. Naturally, I had nothing for her. Crash Party, the elusive duo. Easily mistaken for men in black. They can be seen sweeping into disco’s that lack energy clothed in suits and shades. Under their arms they carry a medley of lap tops, controllers, bass and shed load of funk! After four finger slapping the DJ, they plug in their gear, Bun the dance, then hover out the building leaving a mosh pit behind them. 

It’s a demanding job in this day and age, so how do the boys relax? One prunes a Rhododendron while the other trims the Hibiscus. That’s right! Crash Party are bad boy gardeners! Hence the title of their new EP “Funk to Ur Roots.”

We kick off proceedings with the title track produced post thumbing gardeners weekly. The lads have started as they mean to go on. Combining guitar licks with heavy bass and hip-hop VOX, resulting in a fine-tuned neck snapper.

Are You Ready Now? Alright, I’ve just finished mowing the lawn. This banger features one of funks favourite horn samples that has been given a complete lick of paint. After the garden fence of course! The boys signature sound has this one ready to destroy dancefloors!

Kick it Like…. Oi! No balls near the Fox gloves mate! Once again CP have plucked a well-used sample and managed to make it sound better than ever with dope bass lines, head nodding beats and fresh samples keeping it trim and tidy for the party people!

Get Up and Dance! The garden’s done and it’s time to hit the clubs. For the last tune they’ve picked the tempo up. Spliced some Soul with some thumpin’ bass and beats. What’s the end result? The clues in the title.

It’s that time of year again for the annual Cuttin’ It Fine party!

As always there’s no expenses spared, we’ve hired the finest village hall a shilling can buy, made our own paint guns, disco lights and in CIF tradition spiked the punch with Aldi Demestos. Laaaavly! Now onto the guests….

We’ve invited Dephicit this time. Each invitee has to bring an offering and this spicy chap has hijacked a DJ Fresh Classic, slapped some turbo diesel synthesisers and let the handbrake off! Essential for any dance floor destruction…

Next up we have another new comer, Toy Beats. We patted him down at the door and he unwillingly handed over his splendid remix of Bust a Move. A total rework of the classic with delicious bass and synths capable of setting this village hall on fire!

Crash Party have also made a visit, mainly for the punch. Speaking of punch their 900 Funky offering sure packs one. They’ve been using this bad boy in their sets and never fail to entice an orgy when playing it at country fates.

Last but never least, we have skyped Frankee More in Australia for his 3-hour yodelling set. It usually gets a bit boring after the first hour so we’ve got his Funksta Loving re-funk lined up in case. 100% Frankee, 100% Fresh!

His quest was to seek out the choicest cuts from the freshest, often unheard of, producers ploughing their trade on SoundCloud. The Scour soon blossomed into a bit of a phenomenon, unearthing some of the finest producers to not yet have their tracks out in the DJ scene!

With incredible numbers of people checking out the weekly* posts, it seemed a logical next step to set up a brand new digital label, showcasing, and officially releasing, the creamiest of the crop of The Scour. Boom! http://soundcloud.com/scourrecords was born!

Expect all Scour traditions to be upheld throughout the initial releases; selection process, BPM order, making up of new words, a touch of nepotism from time to time, it's all here.
