Here starts the beat portion of the mix post Pop Ambient intro

This is a re-recording of the full 3.5 hour live set that I played at Outra Cena, Lisboa, on 19/10/2023. The club was busy and the energy was high, and the pace and mood of the set reflects this. On the night, I found it quite hard work to monitor over the boomy reverb of the cavernous room, so my mixing was a lot more raw than it is presented here, with more chop and dynamic mixing tricks. However, I wanted mainly to commit the selection to record, as I was very satisfied with it.

2nd Hour: Sbat

Recorded in my Tokyo apartment on a couple of 1200s, a lone XDJ and my cherished FF4000 mixer, the mix was slowly put together over the course of a couple of months as I went through almost all of my collection trying to find the right records (old and new). I've always been a big fan of DJs that can keep chugging from one 100bpm obscure number to the next, all the while making all everything sound like it belongs together (e.g. Andrew Weatherall in full backroom swing) and I really wanted to try and create my own version of that where you're taken through different styles, almost without realising (I hope), but whilst keeping the focus on a late night/early morning stomp in the backroom of some weird Tokyo after hours club you probably should have left ages ago...but you didn't...and you still have a few more hours in you.

The mix flows from Pop ambient to minimal house. 

This was a personal dig through my Kompakt shelves spanning material from early 00s to present.  In doing the research, I realized I have a very nice selection of more club/rave tuned Kompakt tracks, which unfortunately did not make the cut for the 5 pm Happy Hour winebar venue.

A conversation between natural ecosystems and synth voices and effects, Braiding Fragments by Italian musician Sara Berts weaves together field recordings and synthesis, creating a sonic in-between space, a melting together, a processing of the visible world into beautiful ambient tones and possible states.

Scott Ferguson delved into the House & Techno scene in Detroit, Michigan in 1994, transitioning into DJing and exploring various vinyl records encompassing Detroit & Chicago House, Detroit Techno, Disco, & Funk. In 1998, he embraced the Ensoniq ASR-10, integral to his sample-heavy, filtered sound. Ferguson's debut 12" surfaced in 2001 under his own label, alongside releases on 'Mahogani Music' and 'Psychostatia Recordings'. In 2012, he initiated two new projects: the minimalist 'Black Boxx' utilizing three black hardware boxes, and JBSF with Jitterbug. His productions have garnered acclaim from iconic DJs such as Derrick May, Larry Heard, and Moodymann. Presently, Ferrispark Records continues to produce and distribute vinyl, while Ferguson continues his global DJ ventures.

This mix was originally only available on cassette as part of Chris Seddon's excellent Supine series. (well worth checkin other mixes in the series).  Now that the tapes have all been sold and as I Love acid is just around the corner it seemed a fitting time to up this.  Just going to show that our love of the 303 goes way deeper than just your usual  four to the floor numbers.. here's a selection of slower stuff...  and an occasional uptempo one thrown in for good measure...

(A/R label owner of Disposable Commodities) Portland based Justin Screendoor began DJing in 1996, cutting his teeth on the Midwest rave circuit in Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison - a veteran vinyl practitioner with a DIY sound system sensibility, and the versatility to broadcast for a range of atmospheres, venues, crowds, and moments. 
“My DJing style and sound has been honed over the last 20 years playing weekly residency slots, afterhours, loft parties, warehouses, festival stages, all types of clubs in between and dedicated bedroom sessions.  The focus for my sets is to push the limits of what the dancefloor can take – getting weird and psychedelic– perfecting an adventurous yet streamlined DJing style. I specialize in underground house and techno (Detroit, Chicago, Berlin) with dalliances into minimal, disco, breaks, and ambient.  I am a new music obsessive - avidly tracking new music releases on the daily and finding continued inspiration.
