The last time we spoke to Shanti Celeste she teased us of an upcoming double-header release. Now that she's ready to deliver this pair of aural treats to your ears, we've made sure that we're able to bring you one half of the record before anyone else. We're super-keen, right?

This particular half, entitled 'Lumi', is quite simply an absolutely stomping techno track that's sure to set your speaker on fire. Metaphorically. Probably. It'll be out in the near future via her Bristolian label Brstl but, because we know you're impatient, here's your chance to give 'Lumi' a spin.

Unity

Lauren Flax is a Detroit native and long time Brooklyn resident who has been performing internationally for many years in a variety of projects and genres. She is known as a versatile and unique artist, an in-demand DJ and a producer with an extensive discography of original tracks, collaborations and remixes, including work with a long list of world class talent such as Grammy nominated artist Sia, Little Boots and Tricky. She has toured worldwide as a member of the successful trip hop project CREEP and can currently be found giving life to hedonistic dance floors worldwide.

The past year has seen Flax busy in her home studio, refining her analog hardware live set and working on her solo productions. One Man’s House is Another Woman’s Techno on The Bunker New York is the fantastic result of this work. All three tracks on the record maintain Flax’s presence and strong dance floor vibe. You may have heard bits of the record in some legendary DJ sets already or as a part of Flax’s killer live set, which was first performed at The Bunker’s 16 year anniversary party in January. “I basically start with just the drum machine...create some patterns to get me started...change the patterns and manipulate the sounds real time so that there is a truly performative aspect captured.” Acidic with a serious vibe, Flax makes sure to let us know “Everything for me has come full circle and I’ve definitely returned to my Detroit roots. Those roots run deep and so do my influences, but I also work very hard at maintaining and advancing my own sound. As for acid, it may have made a resurgence but for many of us who have been at it for decades, it was always present. I still can’t get enough.”

Techno pioneer Robert Hood debuts on Rekids with a blistering release entitled ‘Nothing Stops Detroit’ ahead of an album this winter.

Over the last three decades the Underground Resistance alum has continually been at the forefront of the techno genre whilst releasing on many of electronic music’s finest labels to boot. In recent years his solo outings have appeared on a select few labels such as Dekmantel, Music Man Records, not to mention his very own M-Plant. Having made appearances on Rekids in the past remixing label boss Radio Slave - both as Robert Hood (‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’) and Floorplan (‘Feel The Same’) - the Detroit originator now drops a four track release in his official debut on the label.

With its machine aesthetic, ‘Nothing Stops Detroit’ is unmistakably Hood from start to finish. Precision kick drums propel the title track forward as stuttering effects and deep stabs work alongside a march band rhythm. ‘7 Mile Dog’ is next with its grainy synths and scintillating pads, making way for the meandering bassline, rattling atmospherics and trippy, oscillating top line of ‘Ignite A War’. Finally, ‘The Cure’ is a cacophony of twisted percussion and rumbling low-end that energetically concludes matters.

Robert Hood - The Cure

After shining a light on the rich history of Eevo Lute with two retrospective compilations of Wladimir M. and Florence earlier in the year, Delsin Records dives deeper in the Dutch techno archives once more by re-masterering, re-cutting and re-releasing Ballet Mechanique’s Embody EP. A keystone release containing four tracks of tough, yet emotive electro jams, sounding fresh till the date of today.

Originally released in 1996 on Eevo Lute Muzique and definitely one of the highlights when it comes to pure futuristic techno soul. The Embody EP from Jeroen Borrenbergs aka Ballet Mechanique and Eevo’s in-house graphic designer at that time made his first public work on one of the most influential techno labels from the Netherlands.

Jeroen Borrenbergs, also co-founder and creative director from Stoere Binken Design is once again responsible for the artwork. The first 100 limited copies will be pressed on transparent green vinyl.

Embody

Following his debut contribution to the label’s catalogue this year via the Midnight Shift x Voitax „Mothership” compilation, (a contribution saw the artist paired with Veronica Maximova) the Brighton based producer @L/F/D/M, also known as Richard Smith, is the latest to join the catalogue on Voitax. Having pushed the boundaries of his own music, Smith managed to release an impressive amount of records throughout the last years and has perpetuated his sound on cult labels such as Cititrax, Midnight Shift, Optimo Trax, Ecstatic and Clan Destine Records. 

The British producer now returns to Voitax with his »Mutual Autopsy« EP - a strong four-tracker that is characterised by Smith’s undenably grainy lo-fi signature. The whole package is armed with heavyweight kicks, bloating basslines and crunchy, percussive patterns, that he perfectly crowns with some memorable and catchy synth lines. The former art student, as well as one half of Bronze Teeth, shows once again his ability to modulate his way into the abstract, while keeping it groovy and warm and firmly secures himself in the ranks with the techno avant-garde.
