Ocean Alley have captivated audiences around the world with their infectious melody lines and memorable blend of psychedelic-surf-rock. Their track 'Confidence' took out top spot in the triple j Hottest 100 of 2018, with their acclaimed second album ‘Chiaroscuro’ voted #2 on triple j's 2018 album of the year listener poll.

The band have solidified their position as one of Australia's most exciting touring acts, making their mark on the local and international circuit with their consistent touring schedule, selling out countless shows across North America, Europe, UK and New Zealand, as well as playing memorable sets in Australia at Splendour In The Grass, Bluesfest, Falls Festival and the triple j One Night Stand, as well as overseas at Reading & Leeds (UK), BottleRock (USA) and Sziget (HUN). 

June 2020 saw the release of Ocean Alley's third album 'Lonely Diamond'. The album features the singles ’Tombstone’, ‘Hot Chicken’, ‘Infinity’ and ‘Stained Glass’, debuting at #3 on the ARIA Album Charts in Australia and fuelling the band to consolidate and build with the immense DIY momentum that shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Regarded upon his 2006 arrival as a promising beatmaker looming in the shadows of J Dilla, Madlib, waterfalls and Dabrye, Steven Ellison -- known as Flying Lotus -- nullified all comparisons only two years later with Los Angeles. On that album, his first of five for the Warp label, Ellison distilled a uniquely crisp, spasmodic, and heady sound with elements of hip-hop, avant-garde jazz, IDM, and dubstep. While the abovementioned producers fueled Ellison, he had also been excited as a youngster by the '90s West Coast rap classics that combined programming and live instrumentation. His sound continued to develop as he put his own twist on the approach, recording with a crop of jazz musicians including the indispensable likes of bassist Thundercat and strings master Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. This process began with the turbulent 2010 set Cosmogramma and peaked in terms of acclaim in 2014 with You're Dead!, which crashed the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and spawned the Kendrick Lamar collaboration "Never Catch Me," a Grammy nominee for Best Dance Recording. Ellison devoted a few years to various forms of film work and the operation of his revered Brainfeeder label, and returned in 2019 with Flamagra, his second consecutive album to top Billboard's Dance/Electronic chart.

Oakland, CA outfit Lumerians are a prodigious force in the extra-terrestrial realms of modern psychedelia. Since forming in San Francisco back in 2006, Lumerians have traversed their way through multiple different genres - offering mind-bending adventures into everything from space rock, kraut and noise to zamrock, free jazz, drone and dub. Drawing from a range of influences, both familiar and esoteric, past and present, Lumerians conjure up sounds from far into the future. In their twelve years as a band they’ve toured with everyone from My Bloody Valentine to Killing Joke and Black Moth Super Rainbow, putting out a number of critically-acclaimed releases including two ‘official’ albums and two collections of improvised compositions called Transmission from Tellos III & IV. On June 22nd the band will be returning with their third album, Call of the Void, on London-label Fuzz Club after four years under the radar. The album is dedicated to the memory of Barrett Clark, Lumerians’ long-time friend, sound engineer and collaborator who passed away in the tragic Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland 2016.

It may have taken the band four long years to put their latest album together but it was definitely worth the wait, their mystical exploratory soundscapes at their finest. Eclectic and vastly multifaceted, the album is further proof - if you needed it - that Lumerians are a singular force in contemporary psychedelia. Talking about Call of the Void, vocalist Jason Miller explains: “If ‘Transmalinnia’ represented the exploration of an alien world and ‘The High Frontier’ a voyage through space, ‘Call of the Void’ is a penetrative exploration of Earth through an alien gaze gone native - the weight of gravity, the build-up of pollution and sediment, experiences of ecstatic revelry and tragedy.”
