Soundstrike ist eine Initiative internationaler Künstler gegen Rassismus, Krieg und Umweltzerstörung.

Künstler aus den USA gründeten das Projekt Soundstrike zunächst im Frühjahr 2010, um gegen ein diskriminierendes, quasi rassistisches Einwanderungsgesetz (SB1070) im US-Bundesstaat Arizona zu protestieren. Gleichzeitig riefen sie zu einem Auftrittsboykott in diesem Bundesstaat auf.

In den USA beteiligen sich zahlreiche Bürgerrechts-Organisationen an dem Netzwerk,
zusammen mit Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, Salman Rushdie u.v.a.m.

Mehr als 500 Künstler aus den USA unterstützen den Soundstrike, darunter Rage Against the Machine,
Mos Def, Anti Flag, Immortal Technique, Kanye West, Ozomatli, Cypress Hill, Lady Gaga, Nine Inch Nails und Sonic Youth.
Zahlreiche Musiker wie Manu Chao unterstützen das Netzwerk, ohne sich an dem direkten Auftrittsboykott gegen Arizona zu beteiligen und fordern gleichzeitig ein Ende der Kriege und Umweltzerstörung.
Eine Gruppe von Schriftstellern u.a. beteiligen sich mit einem sogenannten Wordstrike.
Poster, Filme, Stencils, Graffiti, Fotoausstellungen, Lesungen schaffen weitere Öffentlichkeit.

Seit Oktober 2010 haben sich zahlreiche Berliner Künstler, Einzelpersonen und Organisationen dem Netzwerk angeschlossen.
In Berlin fanden seit dem Herbst über 20 Veranstaltungen unter dem Titel Art-Word-Soundstrike statt.
Konzerte, Ausstellungen, Lesungen, Kunstaktionen.

Inzwischen gibt es Netzwerke in den USA und Kanada, in Deutschland, Polen, GB und Japan.


Artists from the United States first started the project in the spring of 2010 to protest against a racist immigration law (SB1070) in the U.S. state of Arizona. They reject to perform in the state Arizona.
