Premiere: NOIRE & Akito - Sink or Swim

A promising track of EP2, plays around with a catchy and naive vocal phrase, insisting that ‘Sometimes It’s Hard’. The statement, sung by a soft but mechanical female voice, is underlined by a glitchy and relentless breakbeat layered with visceral subs. The track’s weltschmerz disposition is equally seductive and destructive, which makes ‘Sometimes It’s Hard’ an unusual tune that will satisfy both seasoned ravers and a wider festival crowd.

EP2’s mesmerising cover art, a piece created for affected called ‘Crinoid Scanner’, was made by local 3D artist Caroline Vang. The work is inspired by the alien yet familiar look of crinoid fossils. Finding her inspiration in the most alien and quirky parts of nature, Vang specializes in an experimental and surreal play of texture and shape, to challenge the line between fiction and hyper-reality.

Taken from GÄP’s new album, the Ashida Park affiliate serves a payload of fiercely forward-facing collaborations. It’s an all-star cast too: Principé donny DJ Lycox and hyperpop distruptor TTristana among the names assembled but we turn attention to the Miss Jay cut.

With trace echoes of the coldest instrumental grime, ‘Crystal’ delivers some mutant club turbulence. Rude stuff from two producers known for tearing apart genre boundaries.

Precious Metals Vol.1 is the inaugural compilation from Precious Metals, a label, radio show, and club night.

Since its debut as a radio show on London’s NTS in 2012, Precious Metals has been committed to showcasing  the outer reaches of experimental club music, both locally and globally. Under the direction of DJ and producer Endgame—emerging from South London’s pioneering club collectives Bala Club and Endless. The platform has been focused on capturing the organic cross-pollination of sounds from the inner-city and the sublime chaos of the present moment.

In 2020, Precious Metals evolved into a full-fledged label, seeking to unearth artists that are visionaries on their own terms, eschewing conventional genre limitations. Representing an international roster of uncompromising, iconoclastic artists both established and emerging. Bringing an emotionally charged vulnerability to club culture.

The compilation encapsulates this ethos, and ambition, the culmination of the past 12 years of endeavour. Featuring some of the legends and emerging stars of electronic music.

United in compassion and solidarity for the Palestinian cause and its ongoing humanitarian crisis, all proceeds from the album will be donated to support efforts toward humanitarian aid in Gaza, and Palestinian emancipation.

The release highlights Modulaw’s unique production style, combining slower grooves, raw club sounds, and sharp, metallic textures to create a sound both gritty and immersive. Among the standout features of the EP are a powerful collaboration with Estoc and innovative remixes by genre-blending artists Manuka Honey and Xzavier Stone, each adding their distinct touch to the project.
