Nothing Seems Real är The Grand Stations första fullängdsalbum, släppt 2011, och markerar en viktig milstolpe i bandets tidiga historia. Albumet spelades in under en intensiv period 2009–2010, då bandet fortfarande sökte sin identitet men samtidigt hittade det unika sound som skulle komma att prägla dem framåt.

Musikaliskt rör sig skivan mellan alternativa rockrötter och 70-talets jamrock, med inslag av 90-talets grunge och en rå livekänsla som fångar energin från bandets spelningar. Gitarrerna är drivande men aldrig överproducerade, sången bär på en blandning av melankoli och kraft, och låtarna växlar mellan episka crescendon och mer lågmälda partier.

Tematiskt speglar Nothing Seems Real känslan av att befinna sig i en värld som inte riktigt går att greppa – drömsk, ibland mörk, men med en envis vilja att fortsätta framåt. Albumet innehåller flera av de låtar som fortfarande ses som klassiker i The Grand Stations repertoar.

Det var också den sista skivan för den första sättningen av bandet innan flera medlemsbyten skedde, vilket gör Nothing Seems Real till ett slags avslut på en era – men också starten på allt som skulle komma.

In anticipation of Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord (I CAN'T WAIT) I thought it appropriate to recall my experiences from the last  game.
