Verona-based Patrick "Twice" Gibin is making a habit of collaborating with nu-jazz and broken beat veterans. Having previously joined forces with one-time Sonar Kollektiv regular Clara Hill, this E.P sees him acquire the services of killer keys-man Kaidi Tatham of Bugz In The Attic fame. The latter's smart, jazz-funk influenced riffs are all over the sweet, gently soulful and wonderfully positive deep house A-side "Lights Out", but can also be heard on the woozy, broken beat-goes-boogie flex of "High Flames". "Flash Burn", another musically rich, organic house groover - this time complete with what sound like eyes-closed guitar solos - completes an excellent package.

Short Info: 

Curiously enough the story of this record begins with a song, which isn't even featured on it. A song named 'Guayabas'. One of Guillermo Reuter's very first free-spirited compositions is one of his two contributions to the fourth album 'Ese Dia Va A Llegar' by friend and musician Agustin Pereyra Lucena, in 1975. 'Guayabas' was the unintended starting signal for Reuter's career and was coincidentally the initial spark for this reissue that you, dear reader and listener, are holding in your hands right now.

But perhaps we'd better take one thing at a time and not jump ahead of ourselves. 'Guayabas' was the Guillermo Reuter song that first caught the attention of the Notes On A Journey founders Jürgen von Knoblauch and Stefan Leisering. It led them to discover his album 'Candeias' shortly thereafter, and a love affair was born. It was a similar story for Jacques Subileau, the producer for the recordings of 'Ese Dia Va A Llegar' (and therefore 'Guayabas'), who was so enamored by this single composition that he proposed Reuter to cut a whole album, made up exclusively of his songs and compositional stylings. The Frenchman with an Argentinian girlfriend, had connections to European record labels like Disco Mediterraneo in Madrid and Disques Espérance in Paris which specialised in World and African music. 'Candeias' would be released on both labels, on the Spanish imprint under the name of 'Sambaiana', in France as the original title 'Candeias', but for inexplicable reasons, with terrible sound quality.

Having now Notes On A Journey, more than forty years after its initial release, introducing 'Candeias' to a whole new audience is also in the interest of its creator. For Guillermo Reuter, this album was and is a lifework, which has never lost momentum and significance. It is a record, which simply stands the test of time by bringing pure joy over its full, entertaining length, and is going under the skin at the same time. That's why for this re-issue the original Spanish pressing has been lovingly restored, preserving the sound quality, letting you listen to it the way it should be heard, in the here and now. With the stunning new quality 'Candeias' will find a much bigger following this time round. Come and join the club.

Organic Analogue continues to expand its particular vision of machine-soul as a fresh talent from Amsterdam joins Jeremiah R, HVL, DJ Guy and MNLTH in the realm of spiritual, sonic exploration. Aleks has already made a name for himself in the past year with releases on Natural Sciences, Hesperian Sound Division, Deeptrax and 0Helena0, while his MCM alias recently birthed the Lost For A Year cassette on Lonely Planets. Sharing our penchant for sci-fi imagery and impeccable hardware jams, this talented Dutch producer is a natural fit for OA.
This double 12” release provides the chance to hear some of the breadth in Aleks productions, commencing with the ambient submersion of “Void”. Following that most horizontal of starts, “Gone Home” makes for a gentle progression towards beats with its laconic early morning pads blowing out like Forest Pine-scented dry ice around the trunks of the acidic rhythm section. “NTH” too takes a step further up the energy scale with its Detroitian techno twitch skirting the divide between jacking club material and emotional content.
“Hush” brings a peppy, 303-powered thrust to the record, but the sharp edges of the resonance and the brittle drum machine propulsion are softened by the swooning pad tones that linger throughout. Aleks displays his proficiency for ambience on the beautiful “Heavy Rain”, while “City Break” taps up the smoky drum science of mid 90s Mo Wax and runs it through a crunchy filter. It’s on “Pool Daze” that Aleks truly reveals his affinity for infamous ‘Dam party spot The Breakfast Club. Cascading dub techno chords rattling in the distance while an impeccable house groove takes the reins – it’s the perfect recipe to submit to as the morning stretches into the afternoon.
We’re also thrilled to welcome HVL back to OA after his stunning Away From Everything We Know EP in 2015. He steps up with a remix of “Pool Daze” steeped in classic techno finery, weaving expressive melodic elements around deft beat programming in frankly stunning turn that steps up to the giants of early electronica. As an additional treat, HVL has donned his Kiyadama guise for the “Acid Expansion” of opening track “Void”, channeling the gods of true transcendental dance music in a eight-minute psych-out.
Capturing the foggy time-slip quality of the dancefloor with a sound that could just as easily come from the early evening or the late morning, the Pool Daze L.P. is a comfortable fit whatever hour it plays out. In its spirited embrace of steady, ear- snagging rhythms, the warmest melodies and dubby atmospherics, it’s equally comfortable as another thread in the OA tapestry.

Sean Gorham AKA Sean Innit has been a club and bar DJ since the very early 90's. 
His love of music has seen him work in various roles in the music industry through the years with releases on several labels including Moton and co-founding Midnight Riot alongside long term colleague Yam Who?.

During his time working with Yam Who? theyhave worked together on a large catalog of records including artists such as the legendary NYC band Odyssey and the godfather of Neo Soul; Amp Fiddler.

Sean is also well known as a vinyl head and was formerly a familiar face behind the counter at London's Love Vinyl record store in its early years, where he was often found spinning in-stores and club nights alongside some of the world's most prestigious DJs including Roger Sanchez, DJ Pierre, Gilles Peterson John Morales and UK's finest and much missed Phil Asher. 

You can mainly catch him playing eclectic sets on a selection of London's audiophile systems including his residency at Mad Cats in Shoreditch where his custom built Public Fidelity sound system resides, as well as regularly guesting at the world famous BBE store.
