Chilling Moments May 2021

Back in 2004 I was asked to open for this really hot DJ/Producer out of Montreal named Sultan. While he was pretty unheard of around these parts at the time I was already fully under his spell of amazing music. Given he was fairly unknown in the Halifax area at the time I decided to put together a teaser mix ahead of the gig in an effort to hype the show a little bit.

The show went over very well in the end and it led to him returning many times in the years that followed and I was lucky enough to be a part of most of those shows right up until the last time he graced us with his musical prowess.

I've been listening to this mix a little bit in the last week or so and I honestly can't think of a better example of truly "timeless" music. The tunes in this mix still sound great to me today and I could see myself continuing to play them (albeit a little slower now likely).

I felt it was high time I shared this mix on SoundCloud and was somewhat surprised to realize that it wasn't already there. I haven't bothered to remaster this mix as I no longer have the original wave in order to do it properly so here it is exactly the way it was released on CD back in 2004.

Honestly, I miss this guy making music like this and I am somewhat saddened that we have grown apart in recent years. I can't think of another dj out there that I miss talking to and playing with more.

Chilling Moments Live (May 2022)

Happy to share a new 2 hour home studio session from April 10, 2023. Unlike a lot of my studio mixes this particular mix has no premeditated programming to it and is just an afternoon practice session playing some new tunes (and a few older ones) sort of at random for the first time. This mix starts out in organic house territory and builds throughout the 2 hours into slightly heavier progressive material.

Performed and recorded on a Pioneer DDJ-800.

A few people have asked me to send them this old live set from No Foolin' in Halifax in March of 2007 with Junior Sanchez.  Seeing as how I was playing either before Junior or after (can't actually remember, it was seven years ago come on) I played a slightly more peak time set for the kids.

Happy to share a new 3 hour Chilling Moments journey! I was in a mood to slow this one down a little bit so it starts at 115bpm and only builds up to 120 at it's peak. The first hour is filled of heavy deep house vibes while hour two dips into deep progressive. In hour three things get a bit dark and nasty before finishing off with some darker melodic vibes.

Electric Pines (electricpines.ca) has quickly become an extremely successful late summer festival in Nova Scotia. Held at Saqmaq Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia every Labour Day long weekend it is an East Coast event not to miss!

Sean Keating - Chilling Moments October 2025

Well while compiling music for a rare upcoming festival this coming weekend I was able to finish up my latest studio mix. It's been my habit as of late to keep things to a 60 minute format but sometimes that just doesn't seem enough so I decided to create a full 2 hour mix this time around.

This mix is titled "Walkabout" and while I am not an indigenous Australian male between the ages of 10 and 16 and passing into manhood currently I thought it an apt title to describe this 2 hour spiritual journey. You'll hear nearly downbeat sophisticated melodic deep house through tech-house, techno and progressive house before coming back down to where it began.

I really really enjoy making these mixes and hope to continue to do so for many years to come. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do!

Chilling Moments November 2017

Happy Holidays Music Lovers!

I am back with my second 2 hour journey of 2017. I had all but done away with 2 hour mixes in recent years due to a desire to stay away from listener ADD but have recently come to the realization that 2 hours is really the best format for me to explore a mix the way I have always liked to. It allows me the freedom to explore material I really wouldn't have time for in a 60 minute format. I realize it can be hard to find the time to ingest a full 2 hour mix in one sitting but these are really made for driving or for those who enjoy putting a pair of headphones on for 2 hours and making the world go away.

Chilling Moments December 2017

Finally Chilling Moments makes its first appearance since May by finishing a mix that has been on the back burner for a few months now. Preparing for a few extremely rare gigs during Atlantic Canada's summer festival season took up a bit of time and forced me to shelf this mix that I had started back in June. Having completed my yearly ration of 2 live performances a few weeks ago I was able to revisit this mix and finish it up for your listening pleasure.

We're back to deep & slow with this edition of Chilling Moments which features a lot of great organic deep house that I wasn't really able to explore a lot during my festival sets this summer.

Chilling Moments May 2020

Former fixture of the Atlantic Canadian electronic music scene now turned bedroom DJ with 25 years of experience as a local pro. While Sean no longer performs his love for electronic music remains unabated but evidence of that can only be found by way of his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" now in its 23rd year.

Having compiled an impressive list of accomplishments throughout the years, Sean has played alongside some of the biggest DJs in the industry including Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Sultan, Luke Fair and Steve Porter, just to name a few. He has even had the honour of opening for world class DJs slightly outside of his genre such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiga, Calvin Harris, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade and Darude. In 2011 Sean also provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" mix contest and was featured on John's long running radio show "Transitions". An accomplishment that even the most seasoned of pro DJs aspires to.

With Sean's dedication to his craft, ear for the music along with his storytelling ability, each one of his mixes is sure to be an emotional journey through sound.
