Chilling Moments May 2021

Back with my first actual Chilling Moments mix since May. I've spent so much time in recent months preparing music for my live set return at a couple of great summer events that I ended up neglecting my long running series for too long.

This mix pretty much perfectly represents my definition of "progressive" all in one tight little 60 minute package. You'll find elements from just about every classic electronic music genre. From House & Techno through to Trance and Breaks all arranged so that the energy and aggressiveness builds throughout.

Well this one should have been out weeks ago but March turned into a bit of an exercise in having no free time. So... we are gonna call this April and it's early instead of very late. The power of positive thinking right?

Back to a traditional 2 hour melodic journey at a reasonable pace that is more geared towards the dance floor (in contrast to January's mix) with this one. Loads of great music from great artists and labels. I probably could have called this one the "2 hour Will DeKeizer prog sandwich" given its starting and ending point but we're not going to do that.

Arriving a little late this season is a melodic organic house mix that I typically do each year to welcome the warmer weather in Nova Scotia. Happy to share a new 3 hour Chilling Moments journey! I was in a mood to slow this one down a little bit so it starts at 115bpm and only builds up to 120 at it's peak. The first hour is filled of heavy deep house vibes while hour two dips into deep progressive. In hour three things get a bit dark and nasty before finishing off with some darker melodic vibes.

I guess sort of my typical mix progression with this one. Deep and slow to start and working it's way up over the first hour. Might turn a bit dark and aggressive in the second hour before finishing off with somewhat typical end of set feels for me.

It's been a true labour of love for many many years now, and while I don't perform the way I once did, the insatiable appetite for new and great music remains unabated. Merry Christmas!! I am finally back with a new instalment of Chilling Moments! November and December seem to always be super hectic and stressful for me which, of course, leads to less time and inspiration for music but I am glad I was able to finish this up before the year was over. I did, however, kind of rush the end of this mix a little bit in order to accomplish that.

Like so many of my mixes this one starts out in deep organic house territory and progresses throughout, ending on a slightly darker and heavier mood.

Happy Holidays Music Lovers!

I am back with my second 2 hour journey of 2017. I had all but done away with 2 hour mixes in recent years due to a desire to stay away from listener ADD but have recently come to the realization that 2 hours is really the best format for me to explore a mix the way I have always liked to. It allows me the freedom to explore material I really wouldn't have time for in a 60 minute format. I realize it can be hard to find the time to ingest a full 2 hour mix in one sitting but these are really made for driving or for those who enjoy putting a pair of headphones on for 2 hours and making the world go away.

As always I hope this mix brings a smile to the face of anyone who takes the time to give it a listen.

Chilling Moments December 2018

A new year brings new adventures and endless possibilities. Welcome to 2020!

I'm happy to share with you my first Chilling Moments mix of the new decade. This mix is inspired by the warm sun & vibes of Costa Rica. Compiled and mixed in beautiful Playa Flamingo just a hop skip and a jump from Tamarindo where the BPM Festival is set to take place in just a matter of days.

We're slowing things down a bit with this one to fully enjoy the uplifting organic melodies and growly bits. Great music from great artists and great labels. I hope you find this mix as inspiring as the climate and atmosphere of Costa Rica has done for me.

Chilling Moments January 2020

In an effort to brighten spirits during these somewhat dark and tumultuous times where we are likely feeling isolated and alone I'd like to dedicate my March 2020 Chilling Moments to everyone struggling to find something uplifting to hold on to. I would also like to thank all those brave souls out there who are sacrificing their own safety for the good of others. I'm quite sure they aren't getting as much thanks as they deserve.

Chilling Moments March 2020

The one and only track Jay and I were able to complete. We spent a fair bit of time and a few bottles of wine on this during the late summer and fall of 2007. Our sessions were always pretty disjointed because of other responsibilities but this will always remain as a huge reminder of the time we spent together. I miss those time dearly.

Jay & I never released this track but seeing as we are now 13 years on I feel a share is long long overdue.

Jay Hamilton & Sean Keating - Turn Me Loose (Original)

While looking for an old track I actually produced in 2007 I came across a couple of live recordings from 2007 that I completely forgot I had ever recorded so I decided I start sharing some great old mixes that I actually enjoyed listening to again.

This one is from a very special night at one of Halifax's best electronic music venues (or perhaps the best given all the great events there throughout the years) where I opened for one of my favourite djs to play with. The one and only Danny Howells! Such a great guy and an amazing dj who even had my head spinning during his set. I was so blessed to have opened for Danny both times he graced the decks here in Halifax and I am very happy to share this two and half hour warmup set.

Live @ Reflections w Danny Howells (7_06_2007)

Former fixture of the Atlantic Canadian electronic music scene now turned bedroom DJ with 25 years of experience as a local pro. While Sean no longer performs his love for electronic music remains unabated but evidence of that can only be found by way of his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" now in its 23rd year.

Having compiled an impressive list of accomplishments throughout the years, Sean has played alongside some of the biggest DJs in the industry including Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Sultan, Luke Fair and Steve Porter, just to name a few. He has even had the honour of opening for world class DJs slightly outside of his genre such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiga, Calvin Harris, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade and Darude. In 2011 Sean also provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" mix contest and was featured on John's long running radio show "Transitions". An accomplishment that even the most seasoned of pro DJs aspires to.

With Sean's dedication to his craft, ear for the music along with his storytelling ability, each one of his mixes is sure to be an emotional journey through sound.
