Chris Cargo is an Irish DJ, producer, and label boss with over three decades of experience shaping the sound of underground progressive house. Since the 1990s, he’s carved out a path defined by depth, emotion, and technical precision. His music is both timeless and current, blending deep, melodic, and progressive house in a way that resonates across generations.

He’s performed in more than 60 countries, captivating crowds from the USA to South America, from Europe to Asia. Whether in clubs or on festival stages, Chris has built a reputation for sets that are immersive, dynamic, and masterfully curated. Audiences in Mexico, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Germany, France, Sweden, and beyond have experienced the energy and craft that defines his presence behind the decks.

As a producer, Chris has released on some of the most respected imprints in progressive and melodic house. His catalogue includes music on The Soundgarden, UV, Sprout, Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo, Particles, Movement Recordings, LAIKA Sounds, Forensic Records, Roku, Wizarding Wolf, Suza Records, and RKP- to name just a few. His work has appeared in iconic compilation series from Renaissance, Global Underground, and Carl Cox’s Intec, while also gaining support from BBC Radio 1, MixMag, and DJ Mag.

Chris has hit the Beatport charts consistently, including two HYPE number one spots. His remixes of classics like Stella by Jam & Spoon and Western Approaches by Pako & Frederik highlight his ability to bring a fresh perspective to well-loved tracks without losing their essence.

He also runs If You Wait, his own imprint and creative outlet. The label has become a trusted home for his original music and a space to champion rising artists. In 2022, he released the 11-track album Resistance on the label, a project that received critical acclaim and further established his voice as a producer who understands the emotional and structural depth of dance music.

Happy to share the latest edition of Chilling Moments. I fully intend on doing another one for July so despite it being very late into June, I'll still call this one June.

I guess sort of my typical mix progression with this one. Deep and slow to start and working it's way up over the first hour. Might turn a bit dark and aggressive in the second hour before finishing off with somewhat typical end of set feels for me.

A fixture on the East Coast electronic music scene for more than two decades, Sean has earned the respect of electronic music lovers, DJs and promoters all over with his intelligent and smooth storytelling blend of organic and progressive house.

A true technical perfectionist who combines outstanding programming skills with near flawless execution all while playing to the atmosphere in which he is performing, Sean once earned himself the reputation as one of the most consistent performers in the East. His professional approach and attention to detail provided him with many memorable opportunities throughout the years having compiled a very long list of accomplishments.

Introduced to electronic music in the 80s and early 90s by musical acts like Depeche Mode and New Order it wasn't until he listened to Sasha & John Digweed's "Northern Exposure" in 1996 that his world really changed forever. Falling in love with the sound of the Global Underground, Sean was moved to share this new found love of electronic dance music with others. After an extended period of honing basic DJ skills at home he recorded and distributed his first demo to a few select Halifax promoters and was lucky enough to be given his first public performance at the now infamous Baseline Fridays @ Reflections.

Championing a sound and style that was a bit different for Halifax at the time, Sean quickly become known as one of the early pioneers of progressive house in Atlantic Canada. Holding residencies over the years with some of the most influential production companies including Massive Productions and Underdog Productions while also working the after hours scene with Kyle Kurts at various venues including Sub Rosa, Sean's reputation in the scene grew and provided him with many memorable experiences having played alongside a very long list of some of the world's biggest headliners including Armin Van Buuren, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Luke Fair, Steve Porter, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade, Calvin Harris, Darude and Sultan to name just a few. In 2003 Sean was lucky enough to play alongside one of the DJs ultimately responsible for his musical journey, Sasha. A very special club event that continued into the wee hours of the morning at a local after hours venue where Sean & Sasha treated a small, intimate crowd to an impromptu tag set that still remains as one of Halifax's most indelible electronic music memories.

Somewhat more recently in 2011 Sean provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" international mix contest and was featured on Digweed's highly acclaimed radio show "Transitions". An accomplishment that even the most seasoned of international touring DJs aspires to.

While Sean's live performances have become increasingly rare in recent years, his love for the music remains unwavering and he regularly releases new mixes in his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" which initially started as a SHOUTCast live broadcast through CyberDJs.ca and is now celebrating its 20th year.

With Sean's dedication to the craft, ear for the music and storytelling ability each one of his sets is sure to be an emotional journey through sound.
