Chilling Moments May 2021

Back with my first actual Chilling Moments mix since May. I've spent so much time in recent months preparing music for my live set return at a couple of great summer events that I ended up neglecting my long running series for too long.

This mix pretty much perfectly represents my definition of "progressive" all in one tight little 60 minute package. You'll find elements from just about every classic electronic music genre. From House & Techno through to Trance and Breaks all arranged so that the energy and aggressiveness builds throughout.

Chilling Moments November 2021

Happy to finally present the first edition of Chilling Moments for 2022 and the first one in six months now. I compiled this one with the summer season in mind and recorded it live @ my home studio. It's packed full of summer "All Day I Dream" styled organic house vibes with my usual heavy melodic twist. Energetic percussion, uplifting melodies and of course fun baselines for your summer listening pleasure.

Chilling Moments July 2022

Seeing as how I really haven't had much time to spend on music in recent months and also haven't uploaded any new content in quite some time I decided it was the perfect opportunity to just hit "record" on a random studio session and call it November's Chilling Moments Live.

I didn't put much thought into this one and just played whatever I felt like which usually means trying out tracks I've never played before. I started out by using a little intro section I had put together for a Chilling Moments months ago but never got back to.

I'll really try to just record more random studio sessions in the future as I don't seem to have much time to dedicate to a full mix compilation.

Chilling Moments January 2023

Well this one should have been out weeks ago but March turned into a bit of an exercise in having no free time. So... we are gonna call this April and it's early instead of very late. The power of positive thinking right?

Back to a traditional 2 hour melodic journey at a reasonable pace that is more geared towards the dance floor (in contrast to January's mix) with this one. Loads of great music from great artists and labels. I probably could have called this one the "2 hour Will DeKeizer prog sandwich" given its starting and ending point but we're not going to do that.

Happy to share a new 2 hour home studio session from April 10, 2023. Unlike a lot of my studio mixes this particular mix has no premeditated programming to it and is just an afternoon practice session playing some new tunes (and a few older ones) sort of at random for the first time. This mix starts out in organic house territory and builds throughout the 2 hours into slightly heavier progressive material.

Arriving a little late this season is a melodic organic house mix that I typically do each year to welcome the warmer weather in Nova Scotia. Chilling Moments January 2024

Happy to share a second 2 hour mix for January 2024. This time loosely based on material I played during my set @ The Halifax Mutha Fuckin' Classics Holiday Jam late in 2023.

Deep & melodic organic house to get things going and builds a bit throughout into some housey progressive before finishing off with a modern rework of one of the most iconic melodic tunes of all time.

Chilling Moments May 2024

My first Chilling Moments of 2021 finally arrives.

First I'd like to thank all of my listeners personally. Without the attention my SoundCloud account gets I very much doubt I'd even be doing this anymore. I'm very glad to have this outlet for the music that remains beating within my heart and hope to continue that trend further into the future.

Really wanted to get one out last month (or even earlier this month) but a new year and a new job position has changed my routine somewhat. 2021 might be a little bit slower on the music front than 2020 was but I will still do my best to get some new mixes out whenever I can.

Another 2 hour journey starting off in melodic deep house territory and progressing in a way that sort of seems to happen naturally for me.

Chilling Moments February 2021

A fixture on the East Coast electronic music scene for more than two decades, Sean has earned the respect of electronic music lovers, DJs and promoters all over with his intelligent and smooth storytelling blend of organic and progressive house.

A true technical perfectionist who combines outstanding programming skills with near flawless execution all while playing to the atmosphere in which he is performing, Sean once earned himself the reputation as one of the most consistent performers in the East. His professional approach and attention to detail provided him with many memorable opportunities throughout the years having compiled a very long list of accomplishments.

Introduced to electronic music in the 80s and early 90s by musical acts like Depeche Mode and New Order it wasn't until he listened to Sasha & John Digweed's "Northern Exposure" in 1996 that his world really changed forever. Falling in love with the sound of the Global Underground, Sean was moved to share this new found love of electronic dance music with others. After an extended period of honing basic DJ skills at home he recorded and distributed his first demo to a few select Halifax promoters and was lucky enough to be given his first public performance at the now infamous Baseline Fridays @ Reflections.

Championing a sound and style that was a bit different for Halifax at the time, Sean quickly become known as one of the early pioneers of progressive house in Atlantic Canada. Holding residencies over the years with some of the most influential production companies including Massive Productions and Underdog Productions while also working the after hours scene with Kyle Kurts at various venues including Sub Rosa, Sean's reputation in the scene grew and provided him with many memorable experiences having played alongside a very long list of some of the world's biggest headliners including Armin Van Buuren, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Luke Fair, Steve Porter, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade, Calvin Harris, Darude and Sultan to name just a few. In 2003 Sean was lucky enough to play alongside one of the DJs ultimately responsible for his musical journey, Sasha. A very special club event that continued into the wee hours of the morning at a local after hours venue where Sean & Sasha treated a small, intimate crowd to an impromptu tag set that still remains as one of Halifax's most indelible electronic music memories.

Somewhat more recently in 2011 Sean provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" international mix contest and was featured on Digweed's highly acclaimed radio show "Transitions". An accomplishment that even the most seasoned of international touring DJs aspires to.

While Sean's live performances have become increasingly rare in recent years, his love for the music remains unwavering and he regularly releases new mixes in his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" which initially started as a SHOUTCast live broadcast through CyberDJs.ca and is now celebrating its 20th year.

With Sean's dedication to the craft, ear for the music and storytelling ability each one of his sets is sure to be an emotional journey through sound.
