Digging deep deep in the King St crates once again comes one of the very first songs that put this artist on the road to becoming one of the most well known and respected in House Music. DJ Roland Clark continues to be a force of soulful nature after having achieved a #1 Billboard Club hit back in the day with "Show Me" and one of the biggest underground hits, "Flowers" and "I Get Deep," whose vocal is STILL being played today in the guise of it's many bootlegs. From his soulfully sung pieces, grounding him as a versatile artist and putting him up there with some of the best R&B counterparts, to his thunderous spoken word, be they preachy or sassy, DJ Roland Clark has played ball with the best. Here we pay homage to him once again with "Until We Meet Again," originally remixed by legendary Matthias Heillbronn & Mike Delgado, aka Deep Zone when it was originally released back in '96, now sees revival remixes by UK soulful heavyweight Sean McCabe and a more ramped up remix by Italo-electronic outfit the Dollscombers. Recorded on the anniversary of JFK's assassination and 21 years after their historic '92 New Year mix on Kiss 100 FM, Coldcut meets The Orb inna Uptown Youth House for the Return Trip. Matt Black and Jonathan More alongside studio accomplice Dor Wand got suitably enhanced with Dr LX Paterson and Youth for a multi-player late night jam session lasting over 3 hours. They then entrusted the multitracks of the set to DJ Food who heroically edited, condensed and massaged the sprawling swamp of sound into a tight - but also loose - 2 hour Solid Steel session.

Swimming through the mix are Lee Perry, Killing Joke, Sun Ra, William Burroughs, Teebs, Ry Cooder, Actress, Prince Jammy, Iggy Pop, Monty Python, Hank Williams and Hal 9000. Alongside unreleased dubs from the players themselves, remixes and versions of tunes old and new, the complete track listing for this marathon set may never be fullly disclosed. It's 2 hours, 10 minutes of sonic secrets to melt your mind, probably best listened to in headphones late at night with all suitable facilities for the full effect. Enjoy this trip.

The third and final sampler from Crazy Penis’ ‘A Nice Hot Edit with’ album.

Crazy Penis’ debut album ‘A Nice Hot Bath With’ was one of the long players of 1999 and still holds a special place in many people’s memory, now in 2010 Paper have decided to hand over the tracks from this album to some of their favourite producers out there and as such have created the marvellous ‘A Nice Hot Edit with’.

For the final instalment Crazy P step up themselves to remix the excellent ‘Do it Good’, making the most of the fact that they manage to salvage the original parts by creating a brilliant disco fuelled, breakbeat driven anthem. Funk laden bass and tinkling Rhodes piano keys intertwine with tight guitar licks to form the basis for this superb re-invention of one of their favourite cuts.

Crazy Penis - Do It Good  (Crazy P's We Found The Parts Remix)

Bristol-based producer Sean McCabe released his first tracks in 2003 and has since fine-tuned a trademark sound that is effortlessly soulful.

McCabe made his name in house, developing a long-running relationship with legendary US garage label King Street Sounds and remixing the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Evelyn Champagne King, Carolyn Harding, Blaze, and Roland Clark. Since then he’s amassed an impressive discography, delivering inspired productions for labels like Local Talk, Strictly Rhythm, Vega Records, Tribe, and Quantize – plus an original solo album for Z Records.

A quick listen to any of his productions or one of his superb DJ sets will confirm this attractive, emotion-rich aesthetic. While rooted in house, his sound regularly takes on flavours of disco, boogie, Afro, deeper grooves, proto-house, ‘90s garage-house dubs and much more besides.

As an artist, his 2014 debut album entitled ‘It’s Time’ on Z Records displays his musical range and versatile quality production skills. The album hit Number 1 on Traxsource in its first week and has received support from the likes of Solar Radio, Mi-Soul, Kiss FM, and Jazz FM.

As a DJ, he forged a reputation at the legendary Southport Weekender, where he performed regularly. Anyone who can impress the notoriously knowledgeable Southport Weekender crowd must be doing something right. Sean has also travelled the world, playing as far afield as Asia and South Africa, as well as regular appearances across Europe and the UK. Refreshingly, he seems to have no particular aspirations to play in gargantuan clubs, and admits to preferring gigs in small, intimate venues, where he can make a connection with the crowd.

As a producer, McCabe is constantly learning and evolving, taking his sound in different directions. He admits to a love of vintage synthesizers – picked up from listening to classic New York boogie and ‘80s soul. In 2016, Sean continued his musical journey by launching ‘Good Vibrations Music’ record label – a natural evolution of his renowned Good Vibrations events in Bristol.

With a successful album under his belt, his own record label and notable collaborations with the likes of Karizma, Turbojazz, and DJ Spen, his reputation for bringing quality soulful dance music to the masses continues to rise.
