Urška Rihtaršič, harfa / harp

A harp tuned in 12 EDO and another in 7 EDO allow, through the pedal system, access to various microtonal combinations (1/20, 1/10, 1/6, 1/5, 2/7, 1/4, etc.) in relation to 12 EDO, establishing tonal centers and temperaments. The first and third sections of the piece are tautological, transposed by a distance of one tone.

Bite (2016)

An emotive and eclectic mixture of throat, vocal and flute exertions create the panicked scape of 'Frequency Fables' (2018). The 9-page graphic score is highly gestural, following a similar style to those of the mid-twentieth century. This recording - made in my home bathroom with nothing more than a pair of headphones and my iPhone microphone, was one rendition of it; page turns, huffing, puffing and all. The emotional reception between my eyes, the instrument, the score and the air around me allowed for me to express a turbulent textural exploration of the flute's grungier side.
