I really enjoyed the way you played this epically epic Orbital excursion track

I lost a good friend last month. 

We knew each other for roughly 20 years, and I was thankful for every one. 

I wonder if the World will ever see his like again...

James was a Friend, a Confidant, a Veteran, an Environmentalist, a Burner, an Activist, a Teacher, a Social Worker, an Enthusiast of Off-Road Adventure, the "Cool Uncle" to more people than I can count, and one of the Kindest men I have ever known.

He touched the lives of so many people, somehow managing to weave between social, racial, and class divides with ease, while always leaving a wake of warmth and encouragement behind him.

His stout devotion to his friends, and constant drive for honest self-assessment and improvement were an inspiration to me, and countless others. 

I can only hope that he understood how much, and how truly we all loved him.

This mix was recorded live from the first streaming event my friends and I put on in the early days of the pandemic (2020). Worrying about the acoustic/technical issues it captured, I chose to keep it to myself. But, in the Summer of 2021, while camping near Lake Tahoe, James and I shared an early morning together, waiting for the rest of our group to wake. We chatted for 4-5 hours, catching up (I had moved to the MidWest a few years prior), listening to music, hiking, and goofing off in general. He asked about this set (I suspect he had a soft spot for the breakbeats it begins with, or maybe the Orbital), and I happened to have it on me, so we folded it into our playlist that morning, along with the music of some young artists he had recently met, and was excited about. 

It was a magical morning, and in memory of it, and him, I figured I'd get over myself and share this set with you.

Recorded at the outdoor barn stage at the Shameless Vicennial Festival at Forest Park in Darrington Washington. Headliners for the weekend were John Tejada and J.Phlip. 

This wasn't just any festival, it was a family reunion of the beautiful, weird, and supportive community that the Shameless crew has built and become known for over the past 20 years. It was an absolute honor to get down with so many of my friends, fellow DJs, peers, and mentors.
