Tafari (pronounced Ta-far-eye) Anthony is a Toronto based artist whose music blends R&B, pop, and soul. He is a creator who embodies the spirit of the modern musician. Not just a musician, but a creator. Known for his sleek vocal tones, sultry melodies and music which oozes with personality, Tafari leaves listeners in awe – somewhat apt considering his name means “He who inspires awe”.

His influences range from artists like Prince and John Legend, to more contemporary artists like Lennon Stella and Charlie Puth, among others. Often described as a mix of Sam Smith and MNEK, Tafari creates deeply emotional songs that resonate across generations. “All of these artists are creating music that is pop in its own right, but also so different from each other”, shares the musician. 

Following the release of his two previous EP’s, both of which received considerable notoriety in Toronto, Tafari made a conscious decision to take a break in 2018 and focus on creating new material which explored his own personal soundscape. “I wanted to take a moment to feel uncomfortable and nervous again. That break was crucial for me”. Now Tafari is unveiling the confident new single “Centrefold”. The track sees the musician taking a different direction, to what he calls his own interpretation of pop music. Soaring with atmospheric synths and cascading pop melodies, Tafari showcases his impressive velvet vocals, with a hint of sass. “Centrefold” is the ultimate “go fuck yourself” send off to a self centred ex-lover. Tafari confides, “I’m a pretty calm guy, but when I get to my breaking point, it’s hard to hold my tongue. This song was written from sheer frustration of trying to let him down gently and realizing that he just refused to understand”. 

Working alongside Brandon Unis (Juno Nominated. Billboard Charted. 1X Gold Producer / Mixer), Kelly Alaina and OBLVYN, in Edmonton, Alberta, Tafari was able to illustrate his desire to create something out of his usual realm, pushing his boundaries. He explains, “I was in a new city, new space and with new people. I think all those factors combined allowed me to step out of my comfort zone to try new things, be open to new sounds and melodies, and be comfortable to be whoever I wanted to be that day”. 

Thematically, Tafari’s music often details love, relationships, life’s hardships and finding self identity and worth in a world where most people feel they need to blend in to be happy. “I’m not afraid to write about those dark moments and truths that may be hard to hear. I would hope that my music would inspire someone to be less afraid of being themselves. Be less afraid of offending people by expressing how you truly feel. And to be less afraid of wanting the things you desire and deserve”. 

Tafari’s music has been nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award, receives regular airplay on CBC Radio, with one of his singles being named one of CBC’s Most Influential Songs of 2016. He’s also performed with Shangela (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and New York’s upcoming pop Star MAX, toured across North America and Asia as part of the award winning a capella band Eh440, as well as having performed at Toronto’s Dundas Square and Massey Hall and receiving praise from Michael Buble himself. “Centrefold” is set for release Jan 31st.

SIVLE (Elvis spelt backwards and pronounced civil) is a versatile Rock and Roll band from Brantford Ontario, Canada, belting out an arsenal of legendary cover tunes from the 50s - today as well as many originals.  SIVLE's regular show of songs from Yesteryear and Today features a crowd-induced trip down memory lane of hits from Elvis, Lady GaGa, Miley Cyrus, Pink, Janis, CCR, the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Jimi Hendrix and much well-known radio hits from the last 60 years!!!

The eclectic and diversified trio is female-fronted by powerhouse Joan Minnery. On lead guitar/vocals is Bill Minnery, and Dan Taylor fills out the trio on guitar/vocals/drums. SIVLE also has a 4-piece full band unit.  SIVLE has an active loyal following called their SIVLEization.

SIVLE was formed in 2017 with opportunities that include being the opening act for the 2019 WTFest Rock Festival, featured entertainment at the 2019 Brantford Mayor's Levee and headlining both the Find Your Spirit Fest & Downtown Music Fest in 2018. SIVLE also appeared at the 2022 Summer Street Festival in Woodstock. The popular band has packed rooms across Ontario and most notably they were featured at the 2023 World Music Festival in Mississauga. 

Their brand-new album "Bless This House" features seven (7) original tunes all written by members of the band.  The songs highlight Joan Minnery on lead/backup vocals, Bill Minnery on lead vocals and guitar/bass and Dan Taylor on lead/backup vocals as well as guitar/bass and keys.  Bob Minnery -- bigEZbob appears on banjo on Bless This House.

The uniqueness of the album -- Bless This House is that it features several vocal tracks from the two guys in the band, as most of Sivle's work has always been with Joan as the lead vocalist.  

Bill's songs "Epiphany" and I Can't Find My Way" reflect his guitar virtuosity in Progressive Rock/Blues, Dan's songs "Looking at You" and "Feels Like Home" lean towards Soft Rock with likeable hooks, while Joan remains true to her roots with Country Rock in the title track "Bless This House" about her father and her autobiographical "I'm Not Giving Up This Mic. Then the band veers off in an old school Psychedelic Pop anthem in "Sing IT Like Pearl." 

Their albums feature songs that Joan, Bill and Dan have written independently and then arranged together as a trio while sprinkling a glitter of guitar-laden rock and pop into the finalization of 3 very unique styles.  

Sivle's new album was recorded in the fall of 2023 and produced in Brantford Ontario Canada by Tyler Wilson -- who also appears as a supporting musician on several tracks

SIVLE appears at a variety of festivals, fairs and local establishments, including a bi-monthly residency at the Duke on Park in Brantford.

When the full band is out, legendary female musician Jamie Reinhart joins in on bass and vocals. Joan's brother Bob Minnery aka bigEZbob is also out periodically as a guest on rhythm acoustic. Bob has been instrumental in writing all of the first recordings of original tunes as well as their sister, Anne Minnery.

SIVLE has two distinct shows. The first is the full-piece band showcase with drums, bass, guitar and vocals, which is preferred for bars, taverns, bigger stages and outdoor festivals. The other is the more scaled-down three-piece acoustic, which goes over very well, in particular for smaller stages, matinees and legions. A SIVLE show features music from Elvis, the Beatles, CCR, Pink, Lady Gaga, and Janis Joplin and includes a wide variety of hits from Today and Yesteryear. There is something for everyone.
