Nascent is about becoming.

The desire to become a better human being, longing to actively participate in the world around you, striving to actualize your potential, and finding meaning in this process. Over the past 4 years, these have all been things I've struggled to bring to fruition due to my own shortcomings. Nascent is the embodiment of all the emotions which emerged from this struggle.

Writing this album eventually became a source of this conflict. As I created the music which was supposed to help me find peace, I watched the rest of my life begin to atrophy. In many ways, Nascent is also about the writing process and its consequences. Despite this, I would like to believe I've come out the other end having grown because of it.

I am changing. I am learning to be willing, learning to take the shackles off. Who I am and who I want to be are starting to feel like the same person. It's been an insane journey and I am so grateful for it. Thank you everyone for your enduring support and patience. I hope this music finds a place in your life.

The Struggled Prophet Ep

Signed by Yours Truely, is the second studio album from the American rapper Brokezy. It was released on August 18th, 2023 by Brokezy Productions and Distrokid. The album has features from local artists WydTrente and LuvLyrxc. The album was lead by 2 singles, "In My Mind" which released on January 20th, 2023 and "Before I Go" which released May 26th, 2023.

Production for the album started in August 2022 and the album was finished in August 2023.

This project is unlike any other Brokezy project yet. This album dives into some of Brokezy's darkest life stories and struggled with mental health issues and drug abuse. The album also touches on a major relationship break up that Brokezy is going through.

PAIN IN MOTION

Fragments grew out of memory and impermanence. It lives somewhere between noise and stillness. Each track began as a small idea that stayed with me. Over time, those pieces came together naturally.

Like my other records, this album works as a continuous listen. What makes this one different is that you can start at the beginning or the end and experienced in reverse order. The emotional weight shifts depending on where you enter, the same way memory does.

This LP is dedicated to the 364 people killed at the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023. The attack was devastating for the Jewish people and for the global electronic music community. It was the deadliest attack on civilians gathered around music and peace. The war that followed has brought immense suffering to many. That reality does not erase what happened that day. The deadliest attack on civilians at a music festival in history stands as its own tragedy and deserves to be mourned without qualification.

Fragments is my attempt to hold space for what was lost and for what music can offer in moments like this. Sharing this has not been easy. The last few years have changed me. I have carried fear, anger, and grief while watching friends and family suffer and face unprecedented amounts of hate. I have struggled with how to speak about that without being misunderstood.

This experience has shaped what I can express through music. Fragments came from that place. My hope is that it offers a moment of connection and a way to sit with grief. Even briefly.

This project came into existence with the use of AI as the final executor.  
    
Creating each of these songs took between two days and several weeks, from my first draft of lyrics about a topic that spiraled through me in that moment, through the first couple of rolls. Then fine-tuning, corrections, more rolls, until the final moment was there:
yes, this song is me, and I feel it deeply.

I struggled hard with the decision to keep these songs to myself and a very small circle of people or publish them. Many of them are exposing and show vulnerability.
Still, if there is even a slim chance that someone stumbles over this and finds resonance, I’m glad I decided to share.
