The latest installment in our free download series welcomes Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada with their much requested take on Depeche Mode’s ‘The Things You Said’. As frequent studio partners since remixing Upercent’s ‘Pulsacions’ in 2017, Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada have become one of the progressive scene’s most beloved production teams. The duo have built a strong synergy over what has been a six-year creative swell, showcasing their original material on Nick’s The Soundgarden imprint, while also recording a string of impressive remixes for DAYS like NIGHTS, Get Physical, Proton Music and many more trendsetting imprints. Always looking for new avenues to test their creative chops, the duo took to re-imagining Depeche Mode’s ‘The Things You Said’ earlier this year. Released in 1987 as part of the band’s ‘Music for the Masses’, an album widely regarded to encompass the best styles from both ‘Black Celebration’ and ‘Violator’, ‘The Things You Said’ has stood the test of time and remains a high point on the seminal and much loved long-player. Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada have combined their extensive forces once again, knocking out a near nine-minute epic rendition which has not only been a staple in Nick’s recent sets, but also finds the duo landing more additive ever. A storied artist with a rich seam of high-quality releases to his name, Nicolas Rada is a welcome addition to the Meanwhile catalogue with a superb twin-track offering in the shape of “Glasgow / Riot”.

Operating out of his Buenos Aires home, Nicolas Rada has been at the forefront of the Progressive House scene for almost 2 decades. As part of the artist roster under the Analog Agency banner, Nicolas has travelled the world, spanning the continents with performances in Australia, Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, Netherlands, Hungary, Scotland, and not forgetting his Argentina homeland.

Contemporaneously, a production career has seen Nicolas Rada scale rarified heights. From early work and almost a century of credits on Balkan Connection South America, to work on Lee Burridge’s Tale & Tone, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and fellow countryman Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, the Argentinean star has shone brightly in the underground dance firmament with over 400 production credits to his name.

Now gracing Meanwhile with his sizeable talent, “Glasgow” is a typically powerful offering that revels in a thumping beat, off-beat hats and running 16th note bassline. Picking up the pace in the second movement, subtle melodic motifs begin to accentuate the rhythmic collage as they seamlessly develop over the 8-minute timeframe. Atmospheric pads and steam-pressured white-noise risers add to the overall feel as “Glasgow” hits its height in delay-infused melodic patterns that propel it forward to an epic conclusion.

The cleverly named “Riot” immediately excites with its complex rhythmic arrangement and bassline narrative that extends the vibe of its partner track. With bouncing phrasing, it syncopates effortlessly alongside a cascading array of melodic characters that build in dizzying fashion. Using vocal samples drawn from the classic “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” film, first used by the likes of Chicago’s iconic progressive breaks act, Grayarea, the spoken word melds effortlessly with the shimmering synth stabs and textured pads. The result is a 24-carat modern progressive jewel that sparkles from start to finish.

Making a welcome Meanwhile debut, Nicolas Rada lays down a powerful marker with “Glasgow / Riot”.

If a new generation of self-identity artists is emerging within the electronic music scene, there is where we will certainly find the Argentinian Nicolás Rada, a DJ and producer who has created his own firmly-based path onwards success.

His early influences of Progressive Rock have led him to create a characteristic sound that his public appreciates and that makes you enjoy either on the dance floor or out of it. That sound is the one which conducted him to different labels such as The Soundgarden, Sudbeat, Balance, Get Physical, Chapter24, Sincopat, DAYS Like NIGHTS, Hoomidaas, Proton, among many others.

Since his very first steps in electronic music, up to date, Nicolás’ productions have received support from important referents as Nick Warren, Hernán Cattaneo, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Guy Mantzur, Guy J, Patrice Baumel, Eelke Kleijn, Armen Miran and from many others. This guidance has given, and will surely give many opportunities to his carreer. Thus, the legendary Nick Warren proposed him to make some collaborations together and that is how not only their professional but also personal relationship began, releasing “Land of Dreams”, an EP edited by Nick’s label, The Soundgarden.

Warren’s musical knowledge challenged Nicolás with a new goal in a crucial moment of his carreer, to produce an album. And that’s the origin of “Resilience”. In addition to that, Patrice Baumel included Nicolás’ track “Cumulonimbus” in the prestigious album Global-Underground Berlin and Nick Warren added one of their productions to the mythological label Balance.

Since 2020 is on the roster of Analog Agency alongside some of most important Djs in the world. Nicolas’s brilliance has taken him on a global musical journey performing in a multitude of countries like Netherlands, Australia, Hungary, Spain, Scotland, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuator, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Sri Lanka and many others.  In his own country, he has covered almost all Argentina, visiting the most important clubs. He has been supporting Djs around the globe like John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, Nick Warren, Satoshi Tomii, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, Patrice Baumel and others.

His talent and achievements and music have been featured in music publications such as DJ MAG, Electronic Groove, Decoded Magazine, Vicious Mag, Change-Underground, When We Dip, which are the leading print and online sources within the music industry.
