Music, with its profound ability to communicate, has a rich and extensive history as a medium of expression. It has proven to be an effective means of disseminating messages to a wide audience, even fueling powerful movements for change. Bottlesmoker, our band, aims to create a work that conveys a message. Our focus lies in the messages that have already shaped Indonesian society, particularly within indigenous communities. Traditionally, these messages, comprising hopes, wisdom, prayers, and more, are often conveyed through various forms of art. Hence, through our upcoming album, aptly named "Puraka," we seek to reiterate these messages from our ancestors to the younger generation.

"Puraka" will mark Bottlesmoker's fifth album. The name "Puraka" is derived from Sanskrit, meaning "Breathe." In today's world, everyone is in search of the right way to breathe. This encompasses both the literal act of breathing in clean oxygen and the metaphorical struggle to secure basic necessities such as space, money, time, and sustenance. This album narrates the relationship between humanity and the surrounding environment in their quest to find the correct way to breathe. The deterioration of forests disrupts the proper breathing process, obtaining fresh air becomes challenging in urban areas, green spaces are shrinking, and human-induced environmental degradation triggers numerous disasters. Additionally, surviving, struggling, and finding one's place within a perpetually unstable nation demands individuals to discover their own unique ways to breathe. "Puraka" serves as a collection of reminders for humans to reconnect with nature, rebuild harmonious relationships, and preserve and protect the environment.

Indigenous communities in Indonesia heavily rely on and value their connection with the natural world as an integral part of their existence. Consequently, the harmonization of humanity and nature has remained remarkably strong in their primal way of life. Through the album "Puraka," Bottlesmoker aims to continue fostering this harmonious relationship and inspire the younger generation to join in caring for the environment through a cohesive artistic endeavor.

As each track resonates, "Puraka" invites listeners on a musical journey that explores the symbiotic bond between humans and nature. The album encapsulates diverse sounds, melodies, and rhythms, mirroring the intricate and delicate interplay between the environment and our lives. Bottlesmoker, through their distinct musical style, fuses electronic elements with traditional Indonesian instrumentation, creating a captivating blend that bridges the gap between the modern and the traditional.

With "Puraka," Bottlesmoker endeavors to evoke reflection and action, nurturing a sense of responsibility towards the environment. By rekindling the wisdom of our ancestors, this album serves as a poignant reminder for us to return to our roots, reestablishing a harmonious relationship with nature and taking on the role of caretakers for the environment.
