Dutch trio Envotion are guys that are really close to my heart. Already in the game for over a decade they keep on improving and reinventing their sound. Adrift is their latest addition and what a beautiful strong progressive tune this is. Building smoothly to create a dreamy atmosphere towards the contagious piano chords and trancy synths, this record breathes good vibes and will keep dancers off their feet for nights to come. Remix duties are taken care of by Sebastian Sellares who after various releases on meanwhile and Anjunadeep now brings his special melodic deep house touch to the original, we couldn't have hoped for a better remix.

The elusive 'Imaginear’ rounds out the release and further solidifies the duo’s transcendent abilities. Ezequiel and Sebastian expound their lavish future vision, chasing their relentless curiosity for rhythmic and harmonic experimentation, as fuzzed out notes ring out into timeless suspension, across a bed of mountainous key changing grooves and misty textural refrains. Equally at home above a celebratory skyline or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario, its deeper design and thought-provoking atmospherics provide a much-needed dance floor curveball for the more adventurous selectors out there.

Ezequiel Arias & Sebastian Sellares - Imaginear [Preview - LQ]

Comprised of three distinctive and equally compelling creations, it is the charming melodies of the title selection which get the release underway. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, its warm machine gun style groove and flickering percussive arrangements marry perfectly with percolating effects and panoramic arps. Coming to full fruition during the second act, the duo’s musical prowess is on full display, as a delicate lead rises, conjuring up bucolic imagery, while remaining undeniably infectious against a backdrop of glowing pads and balmy textures, onwards to a spirited finale.

Ezequiel Arias & Sebastian Sellares - Sky Above [Preview - LQ]

Presenting their second release of the year, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers welcomes Sebastian Sellares back to the label for a new EP. The Cordoba resident has been one of the imprints core artists since first appearing in 2019, with five original productions released over the course of a prolific sixteen month stretch. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Cid Inc’s Replug Records, GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have also served as landing spots for the Argentine's mesmerizing productions, while progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren continue to champion his sound. With the year being highlighted by the recently released Replug vehicle ‘Sky Above’, a joint EP project produced alongside fellow countryman Ezequiel Arias, Sebastian now returns to Or Two Strangers with a three track showcase entitled ‘Blizzard’.

EP opener and title selection ‘Blizzard’ finds Sebastian operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by tough driving beats and layers of hypnotic percussion; it’s Sebastian’s stirring melodies which ultimately shape the piece into a memorable dance floor slam. Colourful cascades emerge leading into the main break, sitting in an emotional headspace and bringing with them trails of balmy atmospherics and effervescent effects, before eventually breaking off into a drop of rebounding rhythms and heartwarming chord changes.

Selection two ‘Elements of Nature’ lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Sebastian re-affirms his ability to tip a late-night dance floor over the edge, with wobbly grooves and hip-swinging percussion laying the foundation for misty atmospheres and smoky instrumentation. Sitting comfortably in an ethereal yet thought provoking space, thumping beats rise out of a soulful strum-led break into an ever-evolving, free form finale.

The EP’s final selection ‘Hypnotica’ finds Sebastian continuing to diversify his portfolio with a whimsical creation that’s nicely dialled for the sunrise hours. Deeper in design and highly stylized in delivery, its beautifully contoured, funk-fuelled groove sets the course for incandescent melodies and otherworldly harmonics to create a panoramic musical skyline. Often celebrated for his ability to create emotional themes, Sebastian has ventured further with the ‘Blizzard’ collection, into a time of true innovation, traversing a multitude of realms and dimensions within the progressive spectrum, while excelling throughout.

An artist with a steadily evolving body of work and ever-growing fanbase, Sebastian Sellares continues to chart a path to the upper echelons of the underground dance scene. Now making his Proportion debut, he delivers the twin-track “Renaissance” EP.

From his home in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has witnessed an unstoppable rise to prominence. An accomplished guitarist from an early age with a particular focus on rock and metal, Sebastian was ultimately drawn to electronic music with a penchant for luscious melodies and deep rhythmic grooves. A regular across the clubs of his Córdoba home, a production career in tandem quickly shone a light on a complementary set of skills.

A plethora of high-class releases quickly followed with a century of tracks finding their way onto such esteemed imprints as Anjunadeep, Proton Music, GMJ & Matter’s Meanwhile and Cid Inc.’s Replug, the latter in collaboration with fellow countryman, Ezequiel Arias. Thus, through a growing portfolio of original and remix production work, Sebastian has become a sought after and in-demand artist.

Now making a first appearance on Proportion, Sebastian Sellares delivers a twin-track EP of the highest calibre. Redolent in rich melodic tapestry and dynamic rhythms that have become a staple of his work, “Renaissance” is a glorious offering that lilts effortlessly via rolling groove and ticking hi-hats. A rumbling bassline sequence creates syncopated synergy as expertly placed and stereo-panned effects add to the dense atmosphere. Elegant melodies emerge into the second movement and breakdown as they tumble and cascade over each other in beautiful aural patterns. Hitting its stride once more in the second half, emotive string phrases and delicately pulsating synths add even greater depth in a track that finds the Argentinean at the height of his production powers.

Partner track, “The Blitz” immediately excites with its subtle bouncing bassline energy and ticking percussive groove. Immaculately placed synth phrasing provides dancefloor dynamism as a sweeping analogue synth line imprints itself on the listener’s consciousness. Rising and falling with club-friendly ease, a cadenced synth line builds in energy, mirroring the bassline beneath before twinkling keys provide a moment of exquisite beauty. As the track drops back into its stride once more in the latter stages, bass prowess and melodic majesty combine in mesmerising fashion.

Taking the rebirth of modern progressive house to new heights, Sebastian Sellares is a true “Renaissance” artist.

[...]A Meanwhile regular, April 2021's "Dunes at Dawn" EP and a pair of remixes sees Sebastian Sellares returns to the label after February 2022's remix of Alex O'Rion's "The Serpent". Reworking the title track, the Argentinean star makes intelligent use of the themes resonating through "Sami" as a hypnotic rhythmic bedrock provides the perfect foundation for smooth melodic lines to flow gently across the piece. Trademark motifs and counterpoint phrases swell gently towards a rousing breakdown, where new melodies and additional production material converge in a wondrous sonic storm. Melody and rhythm then combine in the second half to mesmerising effect.

Opening 2024 with a bang from one of the finest modern progressive house artists, Sebastian Sellares returns to Meanwhile Horizons with his “Uncertainty / Dark Omen” EP.

A producer with a century of production credits for a selection of premium underground dance labels, Sebastian Sellares has been a regular contributor to the likes of Anjunadeep, Proton Music and Dmitry Molosh’s Proportion. Appearances on GMJ & Matter’s Meanwhile have been centred around April 2021’s 3-track “Dunes at Dawn” with high-profile remixes of GMJ, Alex O’Rion and Ivan Aliga adding to an impressive portfolio.

Making his Meanwhile Horizons debut a year after first appearing on the flagship label, the Argentinean star now returns with a brand-new twin-track offering. “Uncertainty” is a brooding, gem that bristles with an industrial-sounding percussive groove. Developing with mute melodic phrasing, a powerfully sustained bassline note drives the track forward with immaculately placed pads and counterpoint motifs adding to the evolving sonic soundscape. With a beautifully conceived palette to provide a sense of unease and incongruity, the opening track is a powerful statement.

Continuing the industrial-sounding narrative of its counterpart, “Dark Omen” builds effortlessly with a strong sense of purpose and identity. Redolent in delays and reverbs, the atmosphere created ensures an uneasy intensity to the track as ticking shakers add a traditional club-friendly urgency. Repetitive motifs progress easily in parallel with a chorus of textures, effects and building pads. A strong bassline motif makes its play at the breakdown before things build once more into the second half; a sharp-edged stereo-panned effect creates a piercing sonic layer with the track showcasing another side to the Argentinean’s production persona.

Through a finely conceived and multi-faceted aural collage, Sebastian Sellares has discovered another winning formula with “Uncertainty / Dark Omen”.

Continuing on a similar sonic plane is the second selection 'Far From Home'. Pacey and hopeful like its predecessor, there is a deeper emotion emanating from this one. A warm, redolent groove sits at the foundation, moving with rolling undulation as layers of drums and aquatic effects converge for a buoyant cadence. Elegant atmospheres rise across the first movement, flowing beautifully into an emotive centrepiece, as heartfelt chord stabs and poignant tones unite for a smooth yet exhilarating finale.

Started his musical journey at a very young age, learning to play guitar and listening to Rock, Metal & Pop music, eventually leading him to reach into the electronic side of music. Falling into the hands of the underground, he found house & techno as his main genres, as time passed by he developed a connection with melodies and deeper grooves, focusing his work on the progressive side of these genres.

He has drawn influences from artist like Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Nick Warren, John Digweed, Cid Inc & Guy Mantzur to name a few, some of which have already supported his music
Playing alongside some of the best national Djs, he's becoming one of the next big upcoming artist on the scene, with releases on labels like Above & Beyond "Anjunadeep" imprint, Tripswitch's "OneDotSixTwo", Antrim's "Or Two Strangers" and Aly & Fila's & Paul Thomas "UV" divison of Future Sound of Egypt
