Sebastian Porter with his debut EP on Lebensfreude Records. Better not match label name and the music together. Porter, born in Cologne and meanwhile Berlin-based, knows how to dress the summer in music. As each ray of sunshine would be a sound. Deep, melodic House, which does not make the mistake of flirting with too much seriousness. Instead, constant surprises: it is the use of cellist Thiemo Niggemann in "Geschichten einer blauen Raupe" or the smoky, lascivious voice of actress and party icon Marie Scherzer, what with the interpretation of Nietzsche ("Those people") and Shakespeare ("Moon") texts to the musical tapestry of Porter gives an understated, yet distinctive touch. The Freiboitar remix of "Moon" is reached in terms of permeability again one better and rounds off an EP that will come big to the open-air summer season.

After having made a clear statement with his debut EP “Moon“ on Lebensfreude Records this summer, with “Good Times” Sebastian Porter now provides the soundtrack for the autumn days. Once again Porter knows how to create that deep, melodic house sound without showing off too much seriousness. Sebastian Porter keeps on focusing on the club. While “Wild Spirit” wistfully pays homage to the atmosphere of a late-summer open air festival, the EP’s opener “Passenger” as well as the title track come along less playful, darker, more direct – pointing briskly to the club’s entrance. It’s time for the “Good Times”!

Short info:
"Silent Words" is a mirror of Sebastian Porter himself and how he creates most of his tracks. It is a journey of soundelements which wander and coordinate themselves. Like in every journey there are dark times with dark drudgery but also light, cracked open moments full of enlightenment. But it all makes sense after you look at the whole picture. You have to pay full attention while listening to these tracks to really feel them. The rhythm contains a lot of single sound fragments and percussive details inside each other which create an interesting sound. At the same time, those details create the essential contrasts in this story. The story of Sebastian Porter!
“Rolling Boy” and “Wild Wendy” on the other hand are much more direct, vigorus, clear and with focus. A wonderful addition to the first track because you know how you feel when you took a journey through yourself, excactly like this!

“Silent Words” ist ein Spiegelbild von Sebastian Porter selbst und davon, wie er an die meisten seiner Tracks und auch Sets herangeht. Es ist eine Reise von Soundelementen, die wandern und sich gegenseitig dirigieren. Wie bei jeder Reise gibt es dunkle Phasen mit tiefer Schufterei und helle, aufbrechende Momente voller Erleuchtung. Sinn macht am Ende aber alles nur, wenn man es im Gesamtbild betrachtet und so entfaltet auch dieser Track die volle Wirkung erst dann, wenn man ihm in seiner Gänze die volle Aufmerksamkeit schenkt, sich ihm von Anfang bis Ende widmet. Rhythmisch greifen eine Menge einzelner Soundfragmente und percussive Details ineinander, die ein interessantes Klangbild erzeugen und alle nötigen Kontraste schaffen die eine Geschichte ausmachen. Sebastian Porters Geschichte!
“Rolling Boy” und “Wild Wendy” sind da wesentlich direkter, energetisch, klar und fokussiert. Eine prima Ergänzung zum ersten Track, denn wer einmal durch sich selbst gereist ist weiß, wie man sich am Ende fühlt, nämlich genau so!

"Calling" is the second release by Sebastian Porter at WHATIPLAY. By listening to this EP you clearly notice that Sebastian Porter's sound makes consequent progress and has been added some progressive elements. The storytelling in both tracks "Calling" and "Gayatri" is undeniable, furthermore melodies and emotions are still essential. "Gayatri" even includes a little shamanic part. The EP gets rounded out with a fantastic remix of "Calling" by Danito & Athina who appear for the first time at WHATIPLAY.

Die “Calling”-EP ist das zweite Release von Sebastian Porter auf WHATIPLAY. Es sind diese Momente, in denen man loslassen kann und sich für einen Augenblick lang gemeinsam in den Armen liegt, weil sich die Herzen so weit öffnen, dass man garnicht anders kann, als zu lieben und sich seinen innersten Bedürfnissen hinzugeben. Getrieben von der Musik, die uns in diesem Moment über alles hinweg eint und gemeinsam nebeneinander und miteinander tanzen lässt. Leben und leben lassen! Angesichts unserer gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung, wo waschechte Faschisten es offensichtlich wieder schaffen, sich als stabile Kraft zu etablieren und einen Bürgerkonsens voller Hass, Gewalt und Verachtung hinter sich vereinen, der mich so erschüttert, dass ich es manchmal garnicht richtig glauben kann...angesichts dessen bin ich froh über jeden Menschen, der es schafft, seine Arme zu öffnen und das Schöne zuzulassen. Von diesem Gefühl bitte so viel mitnehmen, wie geht. Die Welt braucht es.
