Seb passed us a short statement that motivated him to record this mix for us: "I usually like to play a mix of older and newer music, for this podcast, it’s a little different. Most of the tracks were released during the past Covid year and I haven’t had the chance to play them in a club, so this is a bit of a corona-releases-appreciation mix :) I haven’t done any mixes or live streams in the past months, doing this mix got me right back in the mood. Hope we can do this soon again, properly and in real life, together with people on a loud dance floor."

Felix Benedikt's mature sound has often had him mistaken as a veteran producer. In fact, Benedikt is actually a talented young artist with a wealth of music already under his belt. At the beginning of the millennium he received his basic musical education working at Cheap Records and started to DJ at the age of 14. From 2012 on, Benedikt worked at TONGUES, a Viennese record store with an in-house studio where in 2015 the project Alpha Tracks was born. The first release on the reactivated label Morbid had strong international resonance and Alpha Tracks has continued with highly acclaimed records since. Tone setting record store, HARDWAX, distributes the project exclusively as Benedikt continues to perform internationally. The music of Alpha Tracks is mainly produced live on analogue machines with different guest musicians, focussing less on technical fetishism than on the live dynamics of studio collaborations. The result is a sound that refers to the Rave era of the early nineties. Alpha Tracks blithely ignores tempo limits or taste doctrines. Aesthetic taboos or even fragments of often maligned genres, are not treated as a retro fetish, but are folded into the contemporary oevre with playful Viennese charm.

Giegling & KANN affiliate Map.ache or better - just Mapi - is next in line turning "Cell“ into an epic, cinematic House groover. Using the original ambient vibe and adding his personal touch, the Leipzig Urgestein shows off in fine, subtle elegance.

Wilde Renate's Sebastian Voigt more on the techno side of things. His breakbeat remix of "Milieu“ features the vocals of photographer Gundula Eldowy Schulze. He ends up at 130 BPM in a frantic yet warm insanity.

P.Leone’s E-Missions imprint drops the ’Sequential EP' from Berlin’s Sebastian Voigt this June.
The four-track release, which sees the Renate/Else resident serve up elastic, machine funk electro and rugged techno also lands with a remix from legendary Scottish producer, Neil Landstrumm.
Voigt opens the ’Sequential EP’ with a title track that instantly leaps out due to a rhythmic, rubberised lead that woozily weaves its way through the arrangement while joined by a myriad of tension building soundscapes. ‘Polyol D9’s woody four-four kick provides a backdrop for more of the producer’s love of overlapping and effect-laden synths that unfurl steadily to create an unnerving critical mass before being tamed at, literally, the last minute. Returning to electro for the last of the originals on ’Sequential EP’, Voigt shows an altogether more musical and airy predisposition without sacrificing detail or dance floor heft.
Closing, Neil Landstrumm perverts ’Sequential’ by blending it with ‘92 UK hardcore, creating a swaggering cut that is shot through with lairy breakbeats, cacophonic stabs and the original’s modulated leads: a grade-A banger.
