We have combined an interview and a mixtape today, both from one of Holland's most promising talents. He's 23 years young, born and raised in Amsterdam and understands our capitals nightlife like no other. He has made huge leaps forward in his musical career the last couple of months. He just got back from a mini tour in the States. During ADE '13 he will be playing alongside Maceo Plex, Tale of Us, Danny Daze and Tennis at 'Audio Obscura: Ellum and Life & Death Showcase'. Of which the latter he is now part-time label manager for. And he's only been DJ'ing actively for little more than a year. Job Jobse is his name, and he's been showing up on our radar more and more, so it’s time to get to know more about this homegrown artist. I had a nice and extensive talk with him, discussing his work at club Trouw, obsessive female fans and the future of deep house. Next to an interview, this article will also feature Job's mixtape for Deep House Amsterdam. It's very sexy and deep, perfect for this Friday afternoon.

"I recently got an email from young Paulo with the title “Is it evil enough?” and a tracklist for his new mix. Who knows what possessed him to try to make the most evil mix possible only like a week after he moved to beautiful Buenos Aires, where the weather is still nice even though it’s winter time, but damn, the kid turned it out with some serious deep darkness. It was even harder for me to post this mix with the weather in Boston straight up 90F and humid for like the last 2 weeks, but luckily today it’s raining so I feel a little evil. You can see the kid’s development from Paulocast to this mix, with super stylized track selection and more complex mixes, plus he put 2 Shackleton tracks on it! The Villalobos remix of Blood On My Hands (where the title for the mix is from) is def one of my top 5 tracks of ’07 it’s just so darkdarkevil that it’s hard to rinse, so props to P for getting it in right. Oh yeah and if you didn’t know already the kid is coming back to Boston for DOTC4."

Nature pacifies my mind and my soul. I can breathe deeply and let go. The oppressive darkness slowly recedes and warmth rises within me. Inspired by this energy, I glide through the forest. Only slowly do the first thoughts come to me again. This time, however, they spread confidence and even joy. The driving force behind this burgeoning hope is the four-four beat drumming out of my headphones. It is the rhythms and melodies that drive me forward again. My old friend, music, is back in my thoughts and that feels damn good. Only now do I realize how much this elementary part of my life has faded into the background. All the events have so consumed me that I could no longer feel the music. But now it's fighting its way back beat by beat and exuding its original magic.

To celebrate the fact that I now have more than 10.000 followers on my Soundcloud page I wanted to create a mixtape with some of my favorite tracks of all time that I used in the 48 mixtapes I thus far created. Here is the recording of the set that I played at @thegardensofbabylon at ADE. I had the honour to open the floor downstairs where immediately some of my favourite Gardens of Babylon family members joined the dance and stayed until the end of my set. So grateful to have been a part of this event. There were some technical failures right at the start with a broken filter knob on the mixer but once I changed CDJs I found my flow and before I knew @nourpalestina showed up to take over. I danced a lot to her set and later my favourite Max Morel and closed with Geju. The vibes was so intimate and I had one of the best dances of my life. Thank you The Gardens of Babylon and ADE for having me!! <3

(Story continued from Witchtape #60)
The little witch was enjoying a very welcome shower under the waterfall at the foot of the mountain.  She was soon shivering from the ice-cold melting water from the glaciers of Mount Hermon, soaking wet and feeling stripped to the bone while at the same time feeling purified by the crystal clear water which was slowly on its way southwards to the lowest place on planet earth… the Dead Sea.  The witch of the North was soon joined by a young teenage witch from the desert in the East and a 6000-year old witch from the Mediterranean shore on the West.  Soon they let themselves float in the water while holding each other in a tender embrace with their legs intertwining.  Despite the freezing cold water, the little witch soon warmed up by the close contact with the two other women.  Her body even started to glow as she felt the youthful energy of the desert witch enter through her skin, where it merged with the immense wisdom of the elder witch.  Soon she felt their powerful collective kundalini schingeling flow through her body, while the 3 women floated towards the middle of the river where they slowly started sinking in a slow spiraling movement, which became faster and faster while the 3 intertwined witches sank deeper and deeper into the abyss.  Yet the little witch felt perfectly at ease in the loving presence of her two sisters witch, while the spiraling movement became faster and faster.  At one point, she didn’t feel the bodies of the other witches anymore.  It was as if the three of them merged into one superbeing and the little witch felt young and old at the same time, black and white, north and south and east and west fused together into one single underwater vortex, while the girl completely lost her sense of time and space.  She had no clue how long they continued spinning around.  Maybe minutes, maybe hours, maybe weeks… until all of a sudden the spiral slowed down and the witches slowly returned back to life… back to reality…

It's also almost exactly 5 years since my first time performing at a club (at F8 in San Francisco, June 2015), so in a sense it's also a bit of a time capsule for me.
