If you love hard techno music, you probably remember the massive tune "Nightmare" by Sebastian Groth, Ben Dust and Markus Weigelt that took the scene by storm in 2021. The track was number one on the charts for months, reached millions of streams, was a trendsetter for the current hard techno rave style and became the most successful hard techno track in 2021, but if you thought that was the end of the story, youre wrong. Sebastian Groth, one of the original producers of "Nightmare," has released a new remix that takes the track to a whole new level of intensity. La referencia 033 de Florida Music nos trae a la mente detrás del propio sello, Andrés Campo, con un EP de nombre ‘Numbers’ de cuatro tracks. Los enigmáticos títulos de cada tema son eso: números. ‘091 (Original Mix)’, ‘136 (Original Mix)’, ‘013 (Original Mix)’ y ‘006 (Original Mix)’ son los temas que componen este corto-no-tan-corto, que en líneas generales es intensamente percusivo, potente y muy físico, con toques atmosféricos y una clara progresión narrativa. Las melodías aparecen más hacia mitad del trabajo, pero acaba con la misma intensidad que al principio. Abriendo el EP tenemos ‘091 (Original Mix)’, un track con una percusión potente y suelta desde el comienzo, con unos interesantes sonidos metálicos y acuosos que acompañan el track hasta el final y que nos recuerdan al agobiante entorno de un submarino. Una bomba pistera en toda regla. Luego nos encontramos con ‘136 (Original Mix)’, un track que continúa la estela de ‘091’, comenzando con intensidad y un ritmo muy marcado, para luego dar paso toques atmosféricos y una línea de sintetizador marciana y ácida, y efectos metálicos parecidos en sensaciones a los del track que le precede. Diseñada para freír el cerebro… y las zapatillas. ‘136’ da paso a ‘013 (Original Mix)’, que tiene una percusión más apretada, de las que pegan al pecho, con aire más minimalista y toques melódicos y atmosféricos más marcados, que se van transformando a medida que progresa el track, convirtiéndose en una angustiosa melodía que acaba en una orgía sonora matemática y minimalista. Finalmente, cerrando este EP se encuentra ‘006 (Original Mix)’, que empieza más suave, pero que pronto empieza a destaparse como una genial combinación de efectos, percusión y melodías de sintetizador alienígenas, acompañado todo por esos sonidos metálicos y acuosos que recorren este trabajo con sutileza del primer al último tema. Todo con un tratamiento de las teclas impecable por parte de Andrés Campo. En resumen, otro completísimo trabajo por parte del jefe de Florida Music.

Christian Cambas is back and celebrates his return with an original track on one of his favorite labels.

Keeping things totally subliminal with a haunting melody and an apocryphal vocal snippet, we are kept locked in via the pulsating bass and commanding synths that seem to have been programmed in some kind of dismal future.

A remix from label boss T78 was essential to this release, and the original has been completely flipped on its head, with a big surprise halfway through, as only he knows how. Another brother-in-arms from the other side of the pond is up next, and of course we are talking about Durtysoxxx who based his version on the synth progressions and provided the heads-down vibe of the package.

UK duo Drumsauw seal the deal with a spacious mix, letting their rendition breathe effortlessly while keeping the production crystal clear.

Layton Giordani steps up for his first solo EP of 2018.

In terms of pedigrees, it doesn’t get finer than Layton Giordani. The Brooklyn-born DJ/producer followed up his lauded debut album of 2017, with a collaboration with Danny Tenaglia to close out the year and marked the summer of 2018 with a three-way collaboration with Adam Beyer and Green Velvet, ‘Space Date’. The period has been a big one for Layton personally, also. From humble beginnings in his native NYC as an Output resident, to being thrust into the bustle of the European club and festival circuit, he’s enjoyed a stint living in Amsterdam, growing and developing over this time. All these experiences have had a fundamental influence on him and his music. The four-track EP ‘Phase II’ represents a new chapter for this exciting talent.

Beginning with ‘New York to Amsterdam’, a track that draws inspiration from a classic by Yves Deruyter, Layton’s work packs a memorable punch as tough acidic undertones and brain scrambling synth effects undulate raising the intensity, making it a perfect opener for Adam Beyer when he played Berghain earlier this year. ‘Body Language’ follows, a track written when Layton was scrubbed out of touring for a month courtesy of a shattered elbow from a skating accident. Not wasting the downtime, he’s crafted a cut that’s sleek, sexy and smart, with a seductive vocal and rousing melodic riff that runs throughout. ‘Black Mirror’, stays true to its dystopic name, a stomping rave cut that pummels dancefloors with a menacing lead synth that’s purpose built for the cold months ahead. ‘Enter the Stratosphere’ is steely electro-tinged techno paired with atmospheric licks of melody, awhile maintaining the artist’s trademark low-end chug. A classy conclusion to an EP from one of techno’s brightest talents.

Gary Burrows has unleashed his monstrous new single
 'I am Ready' closing an even stronger third year for bubblejam.

Gary Burrows is an up and coming Techno DJ and Producer from Birmingham UK who is firmly establishing a name for himself within the techno scene.

Gary's' influences from the harder side of Techno and Old School hardcore are clear to hear. Gary grew up with old rave tapes being left around the house by his brother and sister and once Gary listened to these he became addicted to dance music and was hungry to discover more.

Gary burst onto the scene with his explosive, energetic and driving Techno in 2016 with two tracks signed to Spektre's Respekt Recordings. This was immediately followed up with another EP signed to Respekt. Since then Gary has had a number of releases across some huge labels including Funk N Deep, Layer 909, Eclipse, Orange Recordings, and Technologic. 

Gary has received some fantastic support from some big artists such as Carl Cox, Alan Fitzpatrick, Spektre, Pan-Pot, Richie Hawtin, Spartaque, DurtySoxx, Fatima Hajji and many more

Two contrasting remixes of ‘Space Date’ come courtesy of Pleasurekraft and John Monkman, as the three-way collaboration between Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani and Green Velvet continues to thrill. Joining the strong reworks is an unexpected treat for fans; a last-minute inclusion of a fresh new original track from the trio.

Drumcode got its first taste of Pleasurekraft’s unique production touch in 2016 when ‘Dopefield’ dropped on ‘A-Sides Vol.5’. The Swedish/American duo’s exploration of cosmic techno realms made them the ideal candidates to re-work ‘Space Date’. Their contribution is as visceral as they come; defined by a hypnotic vocal arrangement, a stirring call and response melody and propulsive galloping beats fashioned for peak-time moments. No surprise it was a highlight of Adam Beyer’s Ultra Resistance sets and gobsmacked Maceo Plex who requested a promo to play at Time Warp a week later.

Meanwhile Drumcode debutant John Monkman steps up with a very different, but not less deadly reinterpretation of ‘Space Date’. The Brit has impressed in recent times with strong releases on Ellum, Kompakt and his own Beesemyer imprint, and takes this form into DC207. His is a twisted intergalactic re-rub drenched in warped electro, blistering modular sounds and touches of IDM that manages the difficult task of taking the original to darker, more leftfield realms without ever losing its powerful dancefloor pulse. 

A new collaborative work ‘Data Point’ joins the pack, only completed by the trio of Beyer, Giordani and Green Velvet in late May in time for the Drumcode boss to drop it at IMS Dalt Villa during the sunset slot with Ida Engberg.

‘Camargue’ gets a fresh treatment on Drumcode, as a handful of techno’s finest give new life to an R&S classic. 

Coming from the studio of CJ Bolland and Portuguese journeyman The Advent, the track was born out of a golden age of Belgium dance music and first released in 1992. It stands as one of the most treasured pieces of vinyl in Adam Beyer’s collection and this six-part compilation of remixes and remakes marks a highpoint in Drumcode’s history. 

The package consists of a punchy pin-sharp 2019 version of the original, as CJ Bolland and The Advent polish the edges of their time-honoured rave favourite. Maceo Plex makes his return to DC after 2014’s ‘Conjure Dreams’ and his is a bustling industrial take, with distorted vox that gives way to sheaths of stirring melody, before the spine-tingling chords enter the fore and the cut drops into broken beats. Vintage Maceo. Enrico Sangiuliano delivers a trademark cosmic rework underlined by tribal bass stabs and twisted synth lines to accompany the famous riff. It’s an outstanding remake that’s already a big summer favourite for the Drumcode crew. Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani team up with their own groove-injected, future-focused adaption, all the while never losing sight of the misty-eyed spirit of the original. In contrast to the peak-time prowess of the other respective versions, rising Dutch talent Keith Carnal moulds a liquid smooth interpretation heavy on hypnosis and sparse drums. The Advent rounds out the package with his own fresh version, a whip-smart cut that chops and changes between pounding drums, dreamy synth interludes and warbled effects.

A testament to the growth of Adam Beyer’s scene-leading label, Drumcode annual A-Sides Vol.8 is the brand’s biggest yet.

The 25-track strong compilation features standout cuts Beyer has received over the last 12 months, but been unable to find room for in Drumcode’s regular release schedule, such is the volume and high standard of music that’s submitted.

The highlight-rich compilation includes Jamie Jones & Darius Syrossian’s buzzy Drumcode debut ‘Eyes of the Night’, Nicole Moudaber’s first DC release in 5 years with the mesmerizing ‘This Is Us’, Will Clarke’s bass-drenched re-work of Adam Beyer & Bart Skils ‘Your Mind’ and Joey Beltram’s first Drumcode release in 11 years with the retro-tinged ‘Can You Feel It’.

The beloved Alan Fitzpatrick returns to the fold with the searing ‘Heiße Rakete’, alongside label mainstays Layton Giordani, who drops the stirring chord-driven ‘Chrome’ and Wehbba with ‘Mantra’, combining techno classicism with future-focused groove.

This recording was made in the Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo, a place known for its incredible acoustics. Here I'm playing the Kamancheh, one of the predecessors of the violin, an ancient bowed string instrument from Persia. I feel that the discovery of that instrument brought me a bit closer to some of the more subtle frequencies I’m reaching for in music. 

While I was playing there was a strong rain shower coming down on the roof of the Mausoleum, and at first I thought that would make the recording useless, but it turned out that the soft rushing of the rain in the background actually added a beautiful high frequency continuo to the music.

Welcome to the hardness level 1,000 of electronic music, welcome to the world of: Sebastian Groth. As a DJ and producer, he is an integral part of the German techno scene. As the label operator of ReWasted, one of the main addresses for hard techno worldwide, he is also one of the most influential players when it comes to the defining sound and trends of the last ten years in the field of hard techno. With a mix of uncompromising techno, his own edits and special old-school vibes, he skillfully generates his very own genre on the edge of madness by using classic hardcore and schranz elements: power techno!
It is this tendency to DJ as a true entertainer with contact to the crowd, a smile on his face and a slightly ironic attitude to his own work that characterizes Sebastian. The Westerwald (Germany) native discovered his passion for electronic music early. At the age of 14, he bought his first DJ set-up and organized his first illegal rave at the age of 16. His first own release in 2008 found its way straight to house music pioneer George Morel, who gave him the opportunity to remix his 1993 classic "Let's Groove". This first major success paved the way for a great career.
Since then, Sebastian has made himself a name as a workaholic, not only as a producer and remixer. His discography includes countless releases on some of the most important labels for hard techno and includes remixes for the who's who of the top league. So, it comes as no surprise he's received a multitude of awards for his work over the years, including the award for "Best Techno Producer".
Since his beginnings, the techno scene has changed many times, many artists have come and gone, but Sebastian has stayed, because: His heart beats 150 BPM and faster.
