Quickie from us: "HOLY SHIT, FINALLY THIS FUCKING SONG IS OUT... This song was meant to be an Edit to promote a show we had at LIV in december. Initially we had Disclosure's 'Fire Starts to Burn' over the track and thought the drop was way to hot to use someone else's vocal. So we had this ridiculous idea to create a song around the concept of the #SELFIE. We really weren't sure if this was the most brilliant idea, or worst idea we ever had... So we had our home girl Alexis come over and within an hour we had 2 verses and the song done. At that point in time we thought it was hilarious but we were quite sure how it would be received, but seeing as we aren't pussbags and music is about experimenting and having fun, we put it out. 2 days later the song had 200k plays and about 1% negative feedback. So we went to Dim Mak who we always loved as a label and asked them if they were interested in it, if we went back in added a new verse and changed the drops. 6 Weeks later here we are, with an amazing Music Video compiled with all this great submitted #Selfies from Fans, Friends, DJS and Celebs. So we hope you all enjoy the tune as much as we did putting this whole project together. This is our first EVER Original release and it would mean the world to us if you all bought the song, shared the video and took #SELFIE video... ”

4) #Selfie was named word of the year in the USA and The Netherlands...

A word from Sweat It Out on the track:

This one is pretty hard to write, but at the same time, it has what I would like to think, a good ending.

I have known young Benson for quite a while, but not as long as the late and great AJAX. It turns out, they met one night in Terrigal way back in 2008. Jax was the superstar guest dj and Benson, the local guy with a demo. But better than just giving his demo to Jax, he got a lift home with him. The ride was full of advice and tips, tips Benson took on board to the fullest extent.

Fast forward a few years, and Jax had been playing some (now Melbourne based) Benson bootlegs but hand't put 2 and 2 together that it was the same Benson from Terrigal. This led to some Sweat (Jaxxy) commissioned remixes for the young boy and in a huge nod to Benson's development, the guys collabbed on a remix of Yolanda Be Cool's Love Keeps.

AJAX was famous for recognizing talent early and 6 years after giving Benson a lift home, I feel he would be very, very stoked to be releasing a Benson original on his imprint.

And Benson should be proud of Hot Mess. It's wonky. It's swampy. And yet somehow, kinda poppy. And Lex Famous kills it on vox.

AND we got remixes. YBC pitch a house in the tropics, Dom Dollar adds his charm (banging as it may be hip) and Jad & The Ladyboy ensure that the cool(est) kids are happy too.

The 41st release on Sound Avenue finds the Belgian imprint showcasing the winner's from the labels recent Han Haak 'Slaves In Transit' remix competition. The Original version was one of the standout selections on the labels 2013 Summer Sampler. The remix competition yielded several worthy submissions and after narrowing down nearly one hundred entries to ten label boss Dominique Heyninck began the arduous task of selecting the ones best suited to the ever evolving Sound Avenue umbrella. With a commissioned remix from Sebastian Markiewicz already in the bag the three competition winners chosen in the end were Mohn (NL), Phonic Scoupe and Matt Cahill. 
The first (and previously commissioned) remix is supplied by Sebastian Markiewicz who makes his Sound Avenue debut following three appearances on sister imprint Crossfade Sounds. The Polish producer's mammoth techno take on 'Slaves In Transit' shines with a tough granular groove, futuristic sound swells and apocalyptic overtones which are sure to be devastating on the darker dancefloors. 
Capturing the prestigious first place spot in the competition was Mohn (NL) who has already achieved some nice success with an appearance on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeats Volume 2 compilation which was released in June of this year. The Dutch producers inspired take on timeless techno has been perfectly captured once again on his 'Slaves In Transit' remix. It's shimmering keys and shifty tones are undeniably catchy and the blissful harmonic underbelly is the icing on the cake. A standout interpretation from a future star in the making. 
Second place in the competition went to the hugely up and coming Phonic Scoupe. In addition to a strong run of releases on Stripped Recordings the production trio has turned in several outstanding bootlegs this year. For their 'Slaves In Transit' interpretation Phonic Scoupe have turned in a deep and groovy rework which proves to be an excellent contrast to the previous more techno inspired mixes. It's elastic-like bass hooks, drifting soundscapes and expertly tailored electronics make for one of the best remixes of their career thus far.
Closing the release out is the third place winner and relative newcomer Matt Cahill. With no previously released productions Matt took a shot in the competition and scored big. His atmospheric tech house reconstruction proves to not only be a great addition to the package but the beginnings of a very promising production career.

Getting Freaky

Finally back playing on turntables, just bought a new mixer, carts and some sweet traktor vinyl so thought a sultry little house homage would be a fitting first mix. Pretty deep with lots of funk and  feel good vibes, hopefully help keep spirits high as the cold sets in.. a winter warmer if you will!
