More and more I’ve realising that as humans and artists we create space and also invite each other into these spaces. With space I’m referring to all dimensions; e.g. physical, emotional, psychological, mental. 
Some natural and highly relevant questions comes with this understanding: With what intention am I taking part in creating the world? How are my invitation affecting the world we live in? Can I contribute to the changes needed to allow balance and sustainability in the world? 

I strongly feel that all beings are fundamentally the flow of creativity and for all humans it’s essential to find one’s own way/channel to express this creativity. By doing this we naturally allow the balance needed to express in a sustainable way.
As an artist I know that I have potential to invite others to remember this. 

I’m so inspired and happy to see the Earth Percentage project taking form, making it possible for me as an artist to contribute to one of the most important challenges we as humanity are facing.

We're not really ones for nostalgia and, in any case, to us it mostly feels like we're only just getting warmed up. As a thank you for still being interested though, here's a previously unreleased live version of Retreat! Retreat! that was recorded in Texas that time we were out with The Cure.

To continue the series of my all time favourit artists I am chuffed to share 75min of listening pleasure from Sebastian Mullaert (aka Minilogue) with you. What a yummy Santa Claus surprise :)

Thank you for all the great music you have created and the goosebumps and joy you have given us through your excellent sound! And for taking the time to inspire us with your very interesting and meaningful interview answers.

1. Lucidflow: How does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Sebastian: I try to live a life where I have the possibility to be reminded about my being and at the same time be able to remind other beings about their being. You could say that it's an invitation of the being to the being to be ... Might sound stupid but at the moment I feel that this is the only true meaning there is. I try to let this be the intention behind everything I do; both in my daily life, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio and when I'm performing music on stage.
Like most beings I meet on this journey I also have loads of habitual patterns and unbalances that can be a hinder in keeping this pure intention strong all the time, patterns that I'm unaware about that hinder me and my surrounding to express creativity. Being aware and see this and also gather the strength and faith to face what I most of all want to escape is part of this practise, my daily life with my wife and two children, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio are all amazing ways to do this. This is the life I have right now and I'm thankful for getting this opportunity to let freedom take place; within and outside ... Two very different versions of a techno soul. You can virtually feel him putting hands on knobs and twisting and bending the theme in his delicate and hypnotic way. Who ever has seen Minilogue play live this feeling is captured here by Sebastian in an authentic breathtaking way.

"Direct Experience" in its original version is an 11 minute voyage into Sebastian Mullaert's art of shifting and moving frequencies gently from one place to the other without ever loosing touch with the pulsating rhythms that carry all of it into your vein. The music is indeed trippy and demands an appreciation for a hypnotic state we happily approve of.

The Dub version on the flip side is even more loose and secluded you can feel the music not touching the ground for a bare millimeter.

For the digital release we added two remix versions by our Scottish artist Nick Dow and by Hamburgs analogue cyborg Hannes Rasmus as well as two alternative takes by Sebastian Mullaert.

Nick Dow's version is a post Detroit techno interpretation uplifting and dramatic. It has "Jupiter sounds" kicking in that give the track a touch of the "Night Of The Jaguar"!

Hannes Rasmus who has released the high acclaimed "Musik Für Fünf Machinen" on Traum moves the track towards a glitter ball of disco! Guitars are slashing and sound are clashing… Hannes at his best when he has melodies embracing themselves without any reluctance.

Sebastian Mullaert has always favoured the long arc: of tracks, of creative cycles, of artistic trust. His next chapter unfolds in the form of a new vinyl only label, born in close collaboration with Ulf Eriksson — his longtime friend, ally and the steady pulse behind Kontra Musik, a label that’s been both home and launchpad for many of Mullaert’s most vital releases.

K-Files is built on two foundations: singularity and multiplicity. Every release will present a single track refracted through three or four different versions — each one approaching the core idea from a distinct creative angle. These are tools not just for DJs, but for listeners who hear dance music as more than just rhythm — as mood, as exploration, as transformation.

The first release, KFILE 001, sets the tone: deep, dubby, and spacious, it invites patience and immersion. But like all good rituals, the process will shift. Future releases are already poised to explore other territories: sharper energies, stranger grooves, unexpected colours.

In an world increasingly defined by instant access and digital saturation, K-Files stands
intentionally apart — a slower offering. A return to physicality, to process, to the tactile rituals of listening, selecting, and playing music with care.

K-Files is a sublabel for those who play records not just to move bodies, but to open space. A
platform for sonic evolution, variation, and perspective. A place where dance music is not pinned down — but opened up.

Each record will be released exclusively on vinyl.

The duo make their debut to Drumcode Limited with a heavy, two track release. The EP showcases a mix of their talents and influences to create a moody, dark techno groove. The atmospheric EP is enriched with gritty reverbs and a deep kick drum and the slow, deep crescendos in each track create an intense sound. Mullaert and Siech prove themselves again with a powerful offering to Drumcode Limited.

Nick Monaco - Physical Therapy (Soul Clap Remix)

Swiss DJ & producer, Mirko Loko, continued to indulge in his intergalactic persuasions on last year’s long player “Comet Plan”.  Released on Cadenza, Mirko’s second album was enthusiastically received and picked up many fans for its collection of blissfull and wide-eyed electronica and techno sounds.  Featured guests on the album included dOP’s vocalist, JAW, and Francesco Tristano.

12 months on, and “Comet Plan” gets revisited and remixed by two stellar names from the electronic dance community.

Sebastian Mullaert is well known for partnership with Marcus Henriksson as Minilogue, the Swedish duo responsible for killer albums & singles for the likes of Cocoon, Silver Planet and Wagon Repair.  Mullaert plumps for a solo remix of “Venus” of epic proportions, split into two versions; “Phaze One” and “Phaze Two”.  An organic trip through the cosmos, Mullaert tweaks and teases over two seductively trippy versions, showing us a master class in minimal electronics.

Hailing from Dallas, Brett Johnson has become synonymous with masterful jackin house music via singles for Derrick Carter’s Classic, DJ Sneak’s Magnetic, Freerange and Visionquest.  Brett tackles “U Special” featuring JAW, and turn in a very tasty Remix and Instrumental version.  Soulful, spacey and groovy in equal doses, Brett delivers the goods in abundance on these mixes.

A tight remix package that bows respectfully to Mirko’s original visions, and a timely reminder, to the uninitiated, to check out the album for further inspection.

When you listen to Sebastian Mullaert’s music you will feel something enchanting, a resonance that delivers truth, integrity and reminds us to simply be. The Swedish artist has a distinct approach to life, as well as music, which is centred around tranquillity, stillness and the convergence of Zen meditation, nature and creativity. Known for his work as one half of Minilogue, Sebastian is also an accomplished solo artist with new material ready to roll. As an artist that is constantly evolving he has taken a bold new direction in his sonic exploration, immersing himself in the neo-classical scene and joining forces with one of the top 10 philharmonic orchestras in the world - Tonhalle Zürich. Working with great care and innovation he has created a truly immersive audio-visual performance experience, combining a mesmerising integration of electronic and classical instrumentation, with a visual art installation based on breath taking nature landscapes shot from a helicopter perspective. With such an innovative approach he aims to bridge the gap between classical and electronic music and introduce a whole new generation to the neo-classical concept. 

Sebastian's deep connection with music can be traced back to his formative years; from playing the organ and violin as a child, to performing in orchestras, string quartets and pop band, progressing into electronic music in his late teens. Discovering house and techno in the mid-nineties was the catalyst behind a revolution in his life, he set out on a new musical pathway, to promote the simplicity of being. Throughout the late nineties he experimented with electronic sounds, forming cult duo Minilogue with a friend and releasing with Crosstown Rebels, Traum Schallplatten, Wagon Repair and more, plus two albums via Cocoon – ‘Animals’ (2008) and ‘Blomma’ (2013). In 2014, the duo decided to take a break and invest their time in solo projects and Sebastian has since been hard at work cultivating a collection of new music already snapped up by hugely influential labels such as R&S sub-label Apollo, Drumcode, Hypercolour and Minus.

Sebastian Mullaert’s live performances are awe-inspiring, combining technical wizardry with energy, atmosphere and euphoria, you only have to watch his “Interpretations” performance for XLR8R or Boiler Room appearance for examples of his prowess. Recognition of his aptitude has led him to perform at institutions and festivals such as Panorama Bar - Berlin, Labyrinth Festival - Japan, Fabric - London, Concrete - Paris, The Block - Tel Aviv and Blackmarket - NYC. 

Sebastian’s collaborative work runs parallel to his solo endeavours and he has teamed up with several figures in the techno world to produce some unforgettable releases. Collaborators include Mathew Jonson, Eitan Reiter, Aril Brikha and Ulf Eriksson, and releases have come via underground platforms such as Hypnus, Mule Musiq and Kontra Musik. He also produces under the alias Wa Wu We, offering a serene, understated take on the techno aesthetic. Furthermore he is involved in the new Be Yokai project, a trio formed of Sebastian, Douglas Holmquist and Kristoffer Ström. The three men formed a natural alliance, finding their flow after several sessions together. Their first EP is signed to Hypercolour sub-label Space Hardware, with a live show and more music in the pipeline.

Sebastian Mullaert is already established as a potent force in the world of electronic music. Serious about reminding people to BE on the dance floor, or in the comfort of their own home, the music he makes is deep, progressive and utterly unique. Whatever the future holds, you can be sure he will continue to channel the infinite energy that surrounds us into every facet of his life.
