Satellite is the 4th album from Graham Richardson's Last Days. Richardson who is now well known for his cinematic electro-acoustic pieces that effortlessly invoke an almost inconceivably tangible imagery has this time around turned ever inward for Satellite's core inspiration. While Richardson credits the album with certain personal themes in tow he's more apt to let the listener gather their own meaning of the album's affinity of satellite and stars. The song New Transmission features vocals by Beth Arzy (Aberdeen, Trembling Blue Stars) and could very well sum up the album's apex while delivering the most pop affected Last Days song to date. Satellite is out Sept 17th on n5MD

Stories of Disintegration

In between composing, writing, rehearsing, and recording, I have been improvising a lot, and this track is the result of one of those moments. It is very different from what I am working on but, somehow, it holds my essence, and it makes me feel well. Instead of letting it disappear along with many other pieces that I never share with others, I have decided to publish it in celebration of #pianoday2018. I hope you enjoy it.

My wife and I were gifted an old spinet piano when we bought a house in 2015. Always slightly out of tune, a little dusty sounding, and very much imperfect, the instrument has its own character. But it wasn’t until I cut up an old sweater and taped it to the strings, so as to avoid waking up the family at night, that my love for that character really took form. While piano is certainly a part of the Elskavon sound, I was writing so many new songs on this spinet that I felt the need to start a whole new project. Blurstem was birthed. While the sound is a not-so-distant relative of Elskavon, the heart of it is a minimalist, raw, and intimate feel.

Pre-Raphaelites: Dreaming of a medieval past
16 May—27 September 2020 (postponed due to Covid-19)

This exhibition takes a fresh look at the Pre-Raphaelites and their obsession with medieval subject matter.

During the 19th century the Pre-Raphaelites created countless images of medieval history and legends. These pictures served as metaphors of an alternative world far away from the challenges of contemporary life.

While British society was rapidly changing during the age of Empire and Industrialisation, pictures of perfect kings, saints and fairy tales offered the imagination a temporary escape, a place to lose oneself and a social ideal to aspire to.

Along with highlights from our own collection, the exhibition will feature loans from art galleries around the UK including Tate and the Ashmolean Museum. Among others, the show will feature works by Edward Burne-Jones, Frank Dicksee, William Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

Dreaming of a medieval past takes a new well-being approach to exhibition design. We invite you to sit down, relax, and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells around you.

This exhibition is a collaboration with The Bowes Museum.

Cellist, composer and producer Sebastian Plano is best known for his unique approach to music creation: Uninterrupted nights playing and recording every single note by himself in his Berlin studio, layering each musical phrase at a time. Creating entire ensembles by oneself makes for a distinctive sound, the genre of which becomes difficult for anyone to categorize.
His recent album “VERVE” got Sebastian Plano a nomination at the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2019.

Plano began playing the cello at age 7, and writing music at 12. He later left his home city of Rosario, Argentina, driven by a strong cello-soloist career ambition. It is only after years of dedicated study in renown conservatories across the world, that he chose the path of composition instead, leaving conductors and black suits behind him.

After a well-received solo debut “Arrhythmical Part of Hearts”, which he promoted busking at San Francisco’s subway stations, he went to meet with Nils Frahm in Berlin to master his second title “Impetus”. He later released “Novel” in 2017, a 2-track EP featuring former Kronos Quartet’s cellist Jeffrey Zeigler as a guest artist. Then scoring, alongside Ben Lukas Boysen, the award-winning Playstation game ‘Everything’ and more recently, writing and performing string arrangements for British singer-songwriter Celeste. 
Sebastian Plano received a Grammy Awards nomination for his last album ‘Verve’ released on Mercury KX in 2019.
