Exhausted Modern balances obscurity and clarity with his first full-length debut for Marguerite Records, wearing the familiar hallmarks of the producer’s sound with a determination that makes a home in headphones as easily as it seeds the imagination with images of dance floors swaying under influence of a soundsystem.

Six tracks collectively form a web of energy, flowing from swift movement under the beat of kinetic drums to a staggered inertia, tracing frantically static shapes that grip time still: as some elements of the music rear up forcefully and unobstructedly grim, others merge together in subtlety to form an electric shroud.

This occurs both within tracks and between them — as EP opener ‘Giving form to chaos’ pulses with mutant tropes of electro and full-weight EBM basslines, it also carries a haze of ambience hear far more prominently on ‘The self unselving’’s slow and methodical ride, which in turn is quite distant from purely ambient music without grit or rhythm.

The EP leers out of its own cold gloom, bearing Exhausted Modern’s customary challenge to society’s inequity just under the surface of the smoked ice in the stuttered samples and coded titles. Listeners to Exhausted Modern’s past work will find familiarity and refinement, and newcomers will hear perfectly distilled versions of the sounds displayed like talismans within his work.

Swiss born, Amsterdam resident, The Midnight Tantrum, debuts on the Ransom Note Records sub-label, Insult To Injury, with five Analogue-Techno slices of pure heaven. We first discovered TMT at ECHOBOX Radio in Amsterdam, where label boss Timothy Clerkin presents ITI Radio and TMT, aka Patou, has his own fantastic label show, Dee Dee’s Picks.

A Dolphin’s Third Hole round off the EP with some interstellar arpeggios, underpinned by and intense, rolling rhythm section.

Matt Parent lived in NYC for the past decade cutting his teeth as a live performance artist and DJ. He released two LPs, one on Chem Club and most recently on Acid Camp. He has also released on compilations for Lost Soul Enterprises, Machine Jazz, Blankstairs, Microtones, and Mysteries of the Deep. He’s also a member of the group SEER with Maroje T. They released on Chem Club, Detour, Machine Jazz, and most recently Ghostly International's Spectral Sound. 

Currently living in Philadelphia,
CG animator by day as well as a college professor,he also finds time to mix and master tracks for labels and friends as well.

Instead, the overarching message is one of wanton abandonment; burnt-out artists peddling a punk profanity, marginalised musicians spitting on the establishment and industry. Exhausted Modern is a Prague based DJ and producer and a half of a well-known Endless Illusion label. Having had a recent release on brokntoys, he comes back with a new EP on Rotterdam Electronix.  In his own words, “taken from the EP "Happy Hertz Club Banned" coming on Rotterdam Electronix later this month, the record kicks off with an extended acid injected electro track called ''All Things Are Possible’’. While playing with the term of motivational spirituality, we’re getting put in a contrast with dystopian vibe of the track."
The record is available on Rotterdam Electronix, by the end of December.

Auser has been into cinematic Electro for more than a decade now, with releases ranging from atmospheric and hypnotic to tight and grim, but always loaded with a vision of a storyteller. Though Second Sun is, again, an audiovisual trip, that's not the primary concept here – it's probably the purest album-like experience of Robert Auser so far, presenting most of his characteristics and sounds, and also new elements, still, all are coherent and organic parts of Auser's projective language of electronics.
